a visit to the new Lagoa
Latbear4blk replied to Tomcal's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
You guys have triggered my fantasies. Perhaps this July, when I am in Argentina, instead of a Rio escapade I could try visiting Sao Paulo. My last time there was back in the 80s. I did not go to the saunas, but I did hook up with a miche in Praça da Republica. If I remember well, after fucking the guy in an hotel, I ended the night in a disco named Homo Sapiens. -
Not really. Perhaps they even care less. As part of their mindset they have a very body positive attitude, and very little inhibitions about being naked. Confidence is sexier than Beauty. We are always in the field of raw generalizations here, but I dare to say that it is more likely to find a Brazilian who will be attracted to you not because of your looks (or your money) but because of your personality, that it is to find such an American. They do appreciate deeply Beauty, because enjoying Beauty is part of enjoying life, but it is not their axis, as Joy is.

RIO Jan 21-31, 2020 Suggestions?
Latbear4blk replied to tassojunior's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
@tassojunior, I hope you can move on from a bad experience 20 years ago. I have been twice in Rio last year, both times staying in Airbnbs in Copacabana. I walked the area a lot, at all times, alone and with company, and never felt not even a trace of a thread. -
I have not noticed a specific relationship between Brazilians and esthetics. I mean, the focus on appearance shown by many people is not different than in most contemporaneous cultures. Rather than a national obsession on looks, perhaps it is the combination of a healthier diet and a physically very active lifestyle what produces so many beautiful men, besides the local particular racial mixes. I think @Europeanman may be right here, you are looking only at the hot guys. What I do notice is a different mindset about sex and joy, I like to think that Brazilian culture is epitome to Carpe Diem. This is a contrast specially noticeable if you are coming from a culture with strong Puritan influence.

I am surprised that a group pf people's enthusiasm for getting together would trigger so many negative comments. I have been there once and I do not think I will be back, not because it is not an interesting and enjoyable event, but because I have other even more enjoyable things to do at that time. Indeed, there are not many occasions when clients and escorts can get together and socialize for a whole weekend. Rather than trashing it, I celebrate it even if it is not my thing.
-
Probably, I would have never met you without the event!
-
I am puzzled at @Europeanman laughing at my previous joke. In my absolutely hilarious previous post (my comedian skills are legendary) I was referring to you. Reading throughout the thread, you seem to be passionately desperate for showing off your wealth and making excuses for your disgusting classist and racist comments. So I am puzzled. Perhaps you thought I was referring to someone else? That would be quite stupid and disappointing. Perhaps you thoroughly understood my joke and are able to laugh at yourself? That would be great, kudos to you. Of course there are still other possible explanations related to the very quality of my joke and my comedian talent. But I am sure you can let your own bitchiness to take over and inspire you.
-
Well, indeed someone is desperate in this thread.
-
Got it. Now I understand what you meant, and I feel the same. Too many labels, that is why I love Queer. The only reason I keep using the gay label is because I need traffic.
-
So why do you say you are lost? I wish my desire was more fluid. This is one of the things I like the most in many young guys.

April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP
Latbear4blk replied to Anthonyvan's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Of course it was well meaning. The thing is that I am confused, because I find a quite abundant vegetarian offer, if you know how to order, even in the touristic places. Even if you are vegan, there is a strip of restaurant in Avda Cordoba and Callao. But anyway, beyond plenty of places where you can me your own salad, you can order almost in every place: pascualina, tortilla de papas, tortilla de acelgas, tortilla de espinacas, empanadas with countless vegetarian options, provoleta, berenjenas en escabeche, tartas (perhaps you would call them uncovered pies?) in countless vegetarian options, and those are just the popular ubiquitous non meat/chicken/fish options. If you mean restaurants with an exclusive vegetarian menu, you are right, those are hard to find although they exist. Just like in DC. -

There are scary Grindr/on line hook ups stories everywhere over the world. Brazil does not deserve to be targeted. -

April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP
Latbear4blk replied to Anthonyvan's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Have you explored the offerings in all the different areas of Palermo? Your descriptions seem to be more suitable for the traditional touristic areas, like La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta, Barrio Norte, and Puerto Madero. Tourists do not come to BA to eat salad, so the offering in those neighborhoods is tailored to the demand. But the locals do not go so much to those restaurants. I think you should explore Palermo in your next visit. -

No. I am Argentine and know what I am talking about. It is correct, we are blunt and not fond of political correctness, and there are many expressions and situations that could be read as racists when they are not. However, there is a very strong racism, specially targeting mestizos and jews. Blacks is a special case. They used to be almost half of the population of Buenos Aires in the mid XIX century. They are almost extinct, and successfully erased from national history and identity. -
And he is a whore, right?

Yes! And they think they are not! Before I was banned for ever in the Argentinean forums I had gotten a suspension for getting in a heated argument with a local because of this! -
April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP

This is wise advice. Last July a multiple flight DC-Rio-BA-DC would have costed me more than twice than what I paid by flying to BA and, from there, purchasing a ticket BA-RJ-BA. -

Argentinians vs Brazilians is not a good comparison. Both are huge, diverse countries with noticeable ethnic variations within. BA vs SP makes more difference. I cannot tell, as I told you my last visit to SP was 30 years ago. BA has immensely changed in these three decades, it is now much more diverse than used to. I am sure other friends here can make a good and updated comparison. -

That is a question only you can answer. Our cycles when traveling are very personal. If sex is such a secondary interest, I would probably go to Buenos Aires. And you will have tons of good sex anyway, I just like Brazilians more. By the way, depending on the area you are checking, you may be surprise in both cities, specially SP. I remember that back in the 80s their Japanese population was considerable, I understand is even more now. Buenos Aires has had a significant Chinese immigration the last three decades. -

It is a tough decision, I like @Walker's suggestion. If you have enough days, maybe you want to try both. I was in São Paulo back in the 80s, so my knowledge nowadays is through third parties. For Buenos Aires, perhaps you want to read this post in my blog with some resources. My understanding is that both cities are similarly attractive on culture and urban activities. If you are inclined towards theater and dance, perhaps Buenos Aires would score higher in your rubric. Similarly, São Paulo wins if you are fond of visual arts. Of course Argentina cannot compete with Brazilian saunas if you are mainly looking for sex. However, Buenos Aires sex scene has changed and depending on your age and fitness, you have very appealing options. Sex parties are not my thing, so I cannot really speak of them, but the most popular in the city meets twice a week and have a website. If you are a foodie, I do not know SP nowadays, but BA is a very interesting option. Not only there is a very diverse variety of cuisines, but the scene is very much alive with fusion experimentation and creative chefs, and furthermore, with the exchange rate prices are considerably lower then in Brazil. You have 10 days. If you can give 5 days to each city, I think you will have an amazing trip. Flying between SP and BA is easy, with abundant offer, and very cheap. -
a visit to the new Lagoa

I have always used the same common sense precautions I use when I am at home. But indeed, your comfort is paramount. If you have concerns, stay with the safest option and only meet sauna boys in the sauna. -
Another show I am surprised no one has mentioned before. If you are into hard science fiction, you will love it. Spotless production and acting. The first three seasons were SyFy Chanel, Amazon picked up the fourth, all of them are available in Amazon Prime TV. The first two seasons are excellent. The third one is OK. I am watching the 4th. Production and Acting are still impeccable, but the plot is very weakened, as the original premise went blurred. The original premise was very appealing. The game of diplomacy and geopolitics is taken from international to interplanetary. Mars and Earth are two industrialized powers, and the asteroids belt is a raw materials producer. The first two seasons played with those tensions. But the show was very successful and they had to force an "expanse" in the original scope of the plot, and of course they added aliens. Anyway, a must see if you are into hard sci fi. And for those who besides enjoy eye candy, you do have some. Check this up, @TotallyOz:

Best show 2019. Really good.
