How are the boys these days? Young, muscle or what?

The Tomahawk was in existence on my first visit to Bangkok in December 2000.

A bit depressing. How I loved the Thailand of old.

Is there any date for opening of the go go bars and other entertainment places currently under restriction?

I was last in Bangkok in January 2019, peak season. Customers weren’t scarce but boys in terms of quantity and more importantly quality were scarce bordering on non existent. Despite what this might read like I’m not being negative just reporting the facts. The consensus seems to be that the internet has all but destroyed the bar scene.

I’m not exaggerating but there was only a few, heavily tattooed overweight “boys”. As I have written here in the past anyone walking in for the first time would have assumed it was a chubby chasers bar. A tragic shadow of its former self.

It was tragic when I was last there in January 2019. It’s “former glory “ I regret to say was a long time ago.

A very good question. The “old” Hero was the best best gay massage venue by the widest possible margin.

Good question! Advice appreciated.

I agree just go. I was there once in September the wettest month and you tend to get short heavy showers but it very rarely rains all day. Have fun.

Lunch at Le Normandie restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental. Very expensive but magnificent. My favourite restaurant in the world. -
Bangkok has a bewildering range of 5 star hotels and they are fantastic value. On my last visit I stayed at an older hotel, Plaza Athenee, recently renovated and very luxurious with a magnificent lagoon size swimming pool. Bangkok has my favourite restaurant in the world, Le Normandie at the Oriental. Very expensive but an all round magnificent experience. Service incredible. Bangkok, I can’t wait to return!

Some people love Bangkok some hate it. Personally I love it. The excitement, buzz, of a bustling Asian city! Nothing like it! Can’t wait to return.

Which Rio hotels do you like?

Regarding safety you might be on to something. I was mugged nearly in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel on my first trip to Rio. Copacabana is not safe.
