The problem with insurance of any kind is that you hope you will never need it but only find out how good a company is when you make a claim that you wish never happened. The great conundrum with insurance.

I have asked this question of a few ex pats I have met in Thailand. Virtually all have pre existing conditions that make health insurance unattainable. They are relying on savings to get them through a health crisis and just hoping for the best.

I have been to Thailand at least a dozen times. Last year I was in Bangkok in June and December and never noticed much difference. Beach resorts like Pattaya the difference would be more pronounced.

I stay at the Olivia Balmes. A good modern 4 star hotel in a very convenient location.

As an aside the Dusit Thani has been rebuilt and opened in September. Last December I had lunch there and had look around the place. It’s very nice and I would keen to hear a first hand report from anyone has stayed there.

Was Nicky at Moonlight?

Has anyone had recent experience of using these or other venues for short term purposes?

Can people recommend short time rooms around the Patpong area based on experience?

As I’m reading this I’m watching a news bulletin on Bangkok’s air pollution. According to this report Bangkok is the world’s 5th most polluted city. It occurs during the cool season and is now an annual event.

I only went to Jey Spa once. I just walked in and there were only 2 boys available. If you “pre book” does the owner ensure there is a reasonable stable available when you arrive or what?

Any updates on Thermas? Anyone been there lately?

Unbelievable? I have read countless stories online (and from acquaintances) who have met boys in Thailand, the Phillipines, Brazil, Morocco etc and exchange email addresses or phone numbers. Things start out ok then come the requests for money. Medical emergencies, educational expenses, poor parents, dying grandparents, the rice paddy up north has flooded. The list is by no means exhaustive. I have sympathy for Olddaddy but his situation is just a variation of a theme.

Songkran in Bangkok in 2025 is 13 to 15 April. A question. Is it completely over then? If for example I arrive on 17 April is it all over? Opinions among people I know differ as whether it’s a desirable time to be in Thailand but I think it’s something I would prefer to avoid.

What’s the format of the Atlas bar? Do the boys appear on a stage as per Dreamboys? Do they interact with customers?

A very promising development. I was at The One a couple of weeks ago and it was worse than tragic.
