  1. I have made it to Medellin and arrived last Wednesday. If you just follow the instruction given by the government, there is no problem coming in. There is not much to report because I have been sick since day two. On day one we went to bar Chiquita (or something like that) and some other bar at Parque Lleras. A few things that I noticed which I think are noteworthy: People in hospitality are nice. I've been to many countries around the world and I can honestly say that I have not been treated better in any other country. Last Friday we went to Industry. Before going there I've read some reviews online and people were pretty negative about the staff. I can honestly say that everyone we interacted with from doormen to bar staff and waiters were as nice and helpful as people can be. Another point: I have never been in a situation where I got a bill with tip pre-calculated on the bill, but not mandatory. That seems to be normal here. I don't have a problem with it but it was a bit of a culture shock. As I said, I was sick most of the time and I will be leaving tomorrow. But next month I'll be back and I know there will be many interesting things to write about. Ohh, it's also warmer than I had expected. 28c some days.
  2. I'll be in Medellin Tuesday and I can't see myself worrying about Covid all that much. There is nothing wrong with taking precautions and finding the path with the least risk, of course. I'm more of a bar and club person, so that one dude that I am kissing will be the least of my worries. I had COVID, my 2 vaccinations and recently a boostershot. Now, I like to expereince things as normal as possible. Enojoy your trip!
  3. You are also allowed entrance with a PCR test. They omitted this in the (earlier) news reports yesterday. https://thecitypaperbogota.com/news/colombia-introduces-new-entry-requirements-for-all-travelers/28778
  4. It's is not possible (for me) to use the CoronApp as a foreigner unless I would have resident ties with Colombia. I cannot add a foreign passport number nor change the phone number input to a foreign prefix. The previous advice about the Check-mig app seems to be the correct one.
  5. I just got back from Thailand and in two weeks I'm travelling to Colombia. I already made a lot of new interesting friends on Grindr, I'll keep you all posted.
  6. Why would you post a link to the same article that I posted?
  7. Yes, that's why I asked. I also heard and seen some videos about people that used Uber. The driver would ask them to sit at the front because then it would look like they were friends. But as I understand it now, Cabify is illegal as well. I know Cabify from Barcelona and the in Medellin they have an app "Easy Taxi." Here is a two-year-old thread from Tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g297478-i6346-k12473130-Transportation_in_Medellin_Uber_Cabify_Easy_Taxi-Medellin_Antioquia_Department.html The agency from which we rent a house is sending a car for us. This service will cost us $80.000 pesos from Medellin's José María Córdova airport, which is equally priced as a regular taxi but I would gladly pay more, just for the safety aspect. https://medellinguru.com/get-to-medellin-from-the-airport/
  8. Did you use Cabify?
  9. Did you ever been to the altitude of Bogota? I've been and left after a few days because I couldn't handle the altitude. It's only 250 meters higher than CDMX, but that was a world of difference to me. Something to take into concideration.
  10. It's pretty normal to make assumptions with limited information. This is how we make sense of things and navigate through life. I said what it proves to me based on my experience, not as a matter of fact.
  11. You might be interested in a little experiment I just did. I basically tried to recreate my own experience on Grindr in Medellin but with a gay twink account. The only difference was that I didn't initiate chats. But this wouldn't account to many views. I still clicked on all the profiles I liked and let the computer run for 24 hours. Where got far into the 500 views, 25% messages and taps in 24 hours on my own account, this passive twink only got 136 views and 15% messages of which most were taps. That is a very big difference. Even though this isn't an exact science, it does prove to me that the "slim gay twinkies" are far less popular than in many European countries that I know of.
  12. I started to think that I was the only one on the Latin board. The amount of boys that are looking for someone older is stunning, and unlike popular belief most are not money boys. I often discuss this with a friend, one thing they usually have incoming is the lack of a father figure in their life. I don't see this a lot in Europe. I also think it's about location. How many boys didn't I turn down when in Asia or Mexico...I would take them in a heartbeat back home. This more or less touches the point you are making, but would I pay that $150 in Bogota? Yes, if there was nothing else to be had, but there are so many to choose from that "overpaying" is not needed. Also, I assume that this guy you are talking about was an absolute 10 in your taste of men. Would he only charge $150 in the US? One thing that I love about Latin America, as opposed to many Asian countries that I frequent, is the boy's freedom of entry without a visa into Europe. I might have a week in November where I have a boy from Mexico come over. Sadly enough, this doesn't go for Cubans.
  13. Why would stay somewhere where you have to register your boy when booking? You will be limiting yourself and better hope it works out with the person you registered. What I have read on airbnb, you could have problems with this. What I did was rent a house instead of an apartment. There is no doorman and you have your privacy. There is a section on Airbnb where each listing clearly writes those rules. When are you going?
  14. I am not a star in writing trip reports. But, I was in Mexico last month and wrote some of my experiences on this forum.
  15. It's that I have contact with a few of the webcam boys. On more than one occasion, I have been invited to a livestream via Grindr. My experience might differ from those who are into the muscled straight (looking) models. In December, I will be able to give you some feedback based on real live experience.
  16. Does speculation trump fantasy? 😜
  17. I guess it's tuff to know who to trust. Thais don't agree on a price "up to you" I wonder how often they get stiffed.
  18. Just when I was about to propose. 😭
  19. What a hero, pay half. Seems that he doesn't feel responsible for his husband. It's these stories that totally piss me off. And it's a vicious circle. Somewhere down the line a client is getting it back.
  20. AirEurope
  21. I booked all my tickets and apartments for my holiday. My business class ticket from Europe costs €1329. No, I don't expect the same product as Emirates, but I just need a flat bed seat. The fine print in the airbnb listings is important to read. Many of them don't allow guests of any kind. For now, I'm happy with my find. It's going to be a two month trip and will start in Medellin but only for a week. Then I,ll move on a few weeks. The reason is; a week should be enough for me to know if Medellin is for me or not. If I like it, i'll come back another month, if not, I'll come back a few days to take the plane back home from there. But honestly, if grindr is any indication, it might get pretty wild. @Latbear4blk I know you were planning a trip before my traveling dates. Have you been able to decide?
  22. Are you in Medellin or are you spoofing your location? Are you using a profile picture? Use your country's flag in your profile name. I would just write what I am looking for in my profile in Spanish. Just translate it with google translate. However, if you prefere only English speaking boys, then write your profile in English. I always chat with Google translate open. I'm cruising while I am learning to read and write in Spanish. Also try different times to be online.
  23. What would be the place/area to get an apartment if we want to have most things in walking distance? I mean, near the places that are open 7 days a week, like a popular bar. It might not even exist but that's what we have in CDMX. The place we go to daily is a a few minutes walking from our apartment. I know you said something about making sure that we can recieve guests. That I will do! Boys also told me that it was easy to rent a room in a motel for some quick action. Sounds like something I know from the Philippines. The love hotels.
  24. I am very curious.
