Another bit of culture! One art form that has never really interested me much is ballet. I have seen not more than half a dozen in a lifetime of theatre going, but to be fair each has been rather special. At university I had to spend two months studying in Vienna. The legendary pairing of Rudolph Nureyev and Dame Margot Fonteyn were dancing the ballet Giselle at the Opera House. I managed to get a standing ticket. I was never a Nureyev fan, but the way he used the stage as virtually his home and had the audience in the palm of his hand was remarkable. 
At the start of my career I went to see a short ballet/dance at the Royal Ballet choreographed by one of the great choreographers of the day, Jerome Robbins. His Dances At A Gathering has no story. It is just pure dance with six couples dancing to the piano music of Chopin. I loved it. Robbins, of course, is arguably best known as the choreographer of the original West Side Story.
John Cranko was unquestionably one of the finest of all choreographers. Gay and based at London's Royal Opera House before the law was changed, he was arrested and prosecuted. He moved to Stuttgart where he literally became a star in the world of ballet. His Romeo And Juliet was amazing, as was a ballet he created for his four top stars which he named Initials R.B.M.E. each being the first initial of their first names. Perhaps surprisingly, he used not ballet music but the Second Piano Concerto of Brahms. Fabulous evening. It has became one of his most famous ballets.
My last ballet experience was a major work by another great choreographer, the American John Neumeier. who headed the company in Hamburg for 51 years till last year. Beforehand, he had worked with Cranko in Stuttgart. Also gay, he created a Swan Lake which he titled Illusions Like Swan Lake in which he changed much of the story and had the principal character loosely based on mad King Ludwig of Bavaria who built all the Bavarian castles like Neuschwanstein. I saw this way back in 1977. The company just had to take it to Munich because  everyone in Bavaria in the south was desperate to see it!
In my time, I have known a handful of ballet dancers and am always amazed at their dedication and hard work for what for most is a relatively short career. I have been having some email exchanges with a Hong Kong dancer who is now a Principal with the Paris Opera Ballet, the first Asian ever to be awarded such an honour. But I have also seen on youtube a rather fascinating vdo featuring two 16-year old identical twins from Berne, both of whom have been studying ballet for years and will shortly attend the John Cranko Ballet School. The vdo was filmed at a short summer school in the USA. It has some clips from ballet class where the stretching always amazes me - as do the young guys cute asses (oops!) I have a feeling that we will be hearing a lot more about these twins in the world of dance some years into the future. 
 
 

Next day I went to Khao Kheow Open Zoo I joined a tour group which I was told was a Russian tour but English would be fine, it was not 😅. Tour guide spoke a little English however a few of the Russians on the tour did speak English, I used translation app to translate most of the tour info. Everyone was friendly enough. In the end the made everyone goto one of their shops to try and get people to buy overpriced items. The zoo was great. Got to see all the exhibits and everyone had a lot of fun. 

Throughout the day the massage boy from Grindr kept messaging me, getting really needy. The bad thing was Every time I walked out of my hotel I walked by him at this massage shop and just waved and kept walking. I decided to goto M Bar to see what it was all about. The only thing I didn’t like was that some of the lady boys/queens  did not know the lyrics. However the visuals and the dance numbers made up for it. I would see both this and Tiffany again in the future. 
after the show I came back and rested for a while then I decided to goto candy boys show, I wanted to goto this earlier in the week however they are not open every day. The seating for this show is more intimate as it’s couches however they are closer together so performers cannot walk Through easily to collect tips. This show had a live singer! It was great to watch him sing. I enjoyed the acts the only thing is between each act they play the same melody which gets kind of annoying. The performers were great and interacted with everyone. They had one cute dancer that I would definitely off. Not sure if it’s possible, I am too shy to ask if it’s not upfront. I would go back to:this show again. 
 
after I decided to go back down to the gogo bars, I walked around however no shows were starting so i walked by a gogo bar called dreamboys however there is no show. The boys stand on stage.. that’s it.. felt kind of awkward. There was only one other person in the bar besides myself, one guy kept looking at me on stage and making it very obvious he wanted me to off him. I was interested in another guy too but he appeared bored and wasn’t looking. I decided to buy the guy making googly eyes at me a drink, we discussed fee. He asked 2500 I counted at 2000 which he accepted. He got dressed and left. I believe off fee here was 500. Caught a grab and headed back to hotel, he told me how it’s slower now, he use to dance as a gogo boy on walking street and make more per night, it’s what he likes to do but those bars have slowed down so he looked elsewhere. I forgot to mention when we stepped out of dreamsboys it’s directly across from xboys the mamasan was outside and she saw me and gave me the why you didn’t come back look. I was surprised she remembered I hid behind boy and she laughed.

i did a bit more shopping during the week, next time I think I would visit more gogo bars however I did like staying in Jomtien and I think I would again. I found nighboys club I didn’t go in because it was dead outside and kind of late. Last year was my first visit to thailand and I had a kit of fun so this year I decided to come a bit longer and do pattaya and bangkok. This report only focuses on pattaya. 
 
I was a bit unsure if I wanted to take a taxi so I decided to hire a driver from nams lady drivers. Which was the right decision. They were waiting for me when I arrived and had a comfortable car waiting for me. Drive was pleasant. I would highly recommend. I also booked them for my transfer to bangkok, which was another great experience, 
I booked the agate. I had a crystal pool room I believe, on the back side of the resort. Night time was very quiet no noise from the bars was heard. Staff were friendly. No issues with guests, able to come right up with me. 
 
first day I stopped at soda massage. I picked a boy who was sitting down and off we went. Soda massage has a shared shower room, cabins are smaller but adequate with dim lights. You can however hear everything in the cabin as next to you, as I heard a guy negotiating a price with the boy he had. I didn’t negotiate any extras in the beginning. Massage was mostly light strokes after flipping boy gave me price however I’m sure he knew what price was negotiated next door cause he didn’t try to quote higher. I accepted. Surprisingly  he was verse and we had a fun time showered in the room with another guy showering aswell. 
 
Back to my hotel for a quick nap to recover from my long flight. After I woke up I messaged a Thai guy on Grindr and had he come over for some fun. 
I then headed over to the best bar for the show, this is a cabaret show, mostly drag queens lip syncing. This is my one gripe in these bars. The queens lip sync based on the sounds from the music, they do not know the English lyrics. I feel it would be much better if they lip synced to Thai songs. I highly doubt it bothers anyone else but it’s a little thing I notice, show was ok, I wasn’t really impressed. 
 
next day I did some sight seeing and did some exploring, walked around the area I was staying, visited the gay beach and just get a general feel for the area. I booked the Tiffany Cabernet show for the evening. This show I truly enjoyed. The musical numbers were great. The outfits amazing, and the giant led screens that cover the entire back of the stage really immerse you into the performances. Was mostly a Chinese audience and everyone really enjoyed the show. I did end up taking pictures with a lot of the cast after its 100 baht per performer. The lip syncing was great here. 
 
In the evening I went to m2m bar for the cabaret show, this show is really well choreographed. The lead boy is really good looking, I have seen him in videos and got lucky as he had just returned to the show after a 3 month trip in France. I got there just before the show was about to start and it was empty, however after 5-10 minutes the bar filled out with people arriving for the show. 
 
after the show I went on Grindr and a boy messaged me who turns out was a Massage boy from a massage shop two doors down from agate. I decided to do massage at shop with him. We had a great time massage+ was 1200 all in. I had a great time however he kept pushing to massage in my room next time, still not sure why. 
 
Next I went to Koh larn, I booked a tour which included speedboat transfer, sea walking, snorkelling,  couple hours on the beach and lunch. All in was 1600 which I felt was quite fair, I’m sure if you looked around you could get cheaper. The sea walking was really fun and is something I would likely do again. 
 
after I got back I was tired and basically just slept the massage boy from the previous day messaged me again saying he wanted to see me again, I had a great time so I decided to:meet up:with him again for another good time.

Yeah, its like when some of guys message me they miss me. I'm like oh yeah you miss my wallet don't you haha

After playing for close to 3 hours, we ended this informal pool competition with my guy coming in 3rd out of 4 players. He didn't say anything about the pool table. All he said was that it was not his lucky day! As sponsor of competition, I gave away the prizes - 1200 baht for 1st place, 1000 baht for 2nd place, 800 baht for 3rd place and 500 baht for 4th place.
It was off to Foodland for supper and then back to hotel. 
End of Day 2.

It rained on and off on Saturday. No sun at all so definitely not going to hotel swimming pool. While my guy was at work, I was lazing in room. In the morning, I went to 7/11 to buy cooking oil, salt, sauce, sausages and eggs. My guy was going to cook dinner for me after his work ended. Unfortunately, there were no fresh vegetables at this 7/11.
At noon, I went for lunch and met forum members at Foodland and later Starbucks to chit chat. We were together a few hours because at one stage it was raining heavily were stuck indoors. At 4.30pm, I had to go to Foodland supermarket to buy fresh vegetables. I also got marinated black pepper chicken meat. On my way back, I bumped into an old friend on his way to his work as a waiter on soi 4. We said hi and were happy to bump into each other. My regular guy knows him as they both started in same bar in soi Twilight years again. I tell myself I must go to soi 4 to meet him and give him a tip.
I returned to hotel room. At 6.30pm, my guy arrived. He took a look at what I had bought and went about to prepare dinner for us. "No chilli?" he asked. Oops, I forgot! But it was alright. My guy set about making his own sauce. Half an hour later, dinner was ready.

After dinner, we played chess to pass time until 9pm. We took complimentary hotel tuk tuk which dropped us outside Park Silom then we crossed Silom Road to Patpong. Tonight was pool night. I had organised a pool competition for the 4 best pool guys in Patpong bars. They can be found playing pool at open bar with pool table below Freshboys from 8pm to 9.30pm on most days. My guy is of course one of them!
In March, I had taken the guys to play pool at the small pool bar operated by ladies near Foodland. But my guy said that pool table was old and had a lot of wear and tear. So I looked around the neighbourhood for a place with pool table in good condition.
Found it! It's at Patpong market next to King's Castle lady bar. It's on the 2nd floor and there are 4 sumptuous brand new pool tables. My guy cannot use the pool table as an excuse if he loses!

A friend I used to travel to Thailand a lot with, thought he was the only "BF" that one MB had in Pattaya. He'd tell me that when he went back to the states that his guy went back to work on the farm 😝

Looks that low season is not that low afet all

4th trip this year. Yes, I can hear the groans and silent cursing of many forum members.
6 days 5 nights. Thursday to Tuesday. Extended weekend. I decided to take a trip because favourite forum members happened to be in Bangkok at same time.
Purposely kept trip a surprise from my regular guy at Freshboys. I concocted an elaborate plan go surprise him because I wanted to see his reaction.
The plan was other forum members go into Freshboys first. I will wait downstairs. They will get him to sit with them. They will then blindfold him. After getting signal from them, I will go inside, sit close to him, hold his hands, say his name and see his surprised face when he takes off the blindfold. Then we will hug and kiss. And everyone around us will be happy for us.
Well, that was the plan.
Who knew that at relatively early time in the night (10pm), my guy would be seated and drinking with a guy with bottle of whisky!!!!!!
 

It might be they employ 20-something Marketing/sales folk who think QR codes and phone surveys to be the natural way to get feedback. 
Ironic, since I imagine if could actually get good feedback, their customers would probably express a preference for pen and paper or emailed surveys.
