I hear ya but I think we're saying the same thing... majority are looking for the financial stability... as I said earlier probably 80-90%. But I think the original poster's point was that you have better odds in places like Thailand of finding a younger dude into older. That's definitely true. I learned that in my first hour after landing in Bangkok and again today in Chiang Mai. My Grindr blew the f up in seconds with messages from guys that would be way out of my league back home. Yet on Samui, I was as invisible as I am in the US because it's basically Daytona Beach Part 2. 😆 Sniffing out money boys or those not being up front about it is pretty easy to me. Profiles kind of say it all ... at least most of the time. And if the profile doesn't do it, the nature of the chat dialog does. At least for me it's obvious. The dying grandmother/pet is terminally ill/need books for class or will get kicked out... it's a running joke among my buddies I travel to Colombia with. But those stories are from rent boys to begin with, so it's not as if true feelings were ever in the equation in the first place. There are a couple guys in their 20s I've met in my Colombia visits that I connected with and still am in touch with. And I attribute it to the same thing... the exotic, being different, or like your theory ... the excitement of someone from a different culture. So to the original post's point, yeah I def think odds of finding something legit and not based on $ with a younger guy are better in places like this.

I’ve landed in the mountains. After living like a monk with no bedroom action all week in Koh Samui, I’m definitely planning to partake in some fun here in Chiang Mai. I know the opportunities will be far fewer than Bangkok but after a week of beaches, temples and elephants on Koh Samui, I’m down for some fun. Most of my time here will be spent exploring apartments and neighborhoods during the daytime. For those who haven’t followed so far, I landed in Bangkok. Been researching a move to Thailand for about a year. I know far too much about healthcare, visas and the tourist do’s and don’ts. But before I made the big commitment I wanted to come over here for two months to see if I really like it as much as I thought I would. I didn’t really anticipate Bangkok being a contender in terms of where I’d want to live in Thailand. It was really just where I planned to land. I wanted to have naughty fun in Silom since I’d always heard about it. But when I booked this trip, Ko Samui and Chiang Mai were my two big contenders of where I’d want to live. Samui will definitely not be it. Bangkok… we’ll see. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It’s all of the positives of a big city without the negatives I’m used to in the United States. Wrote about my trips to the Bangkok bars and massage spots over on the Bangkok board. I’m going back in two weeks. If Chiang Mai doesn’t do it for me, I’ll do some apartment visits and see more parts of the city. And of course, try to squeeze in some fun at night. But for Chiang Mai, the number of options to explore seems far more manageable. Anyone with suggestions on particular massage spots or go-go bars to visit… Feel free to drop a reply. Adam’s Apple seems to be the big gogo bar. Probably gonna check that out tonight. The massage spot that seems most enticing at first glance is aqua cnx. I’m mostly a twinks and twunks kinda guy btw. For now, though, just watching the daylight disappear from the rooftop infinity pool of my Airbnb.

But they are apparently out there. My being the hot guy in the club days are far behind me. I’m in my early 50s so I’m not pushing a walker around yet so maybe I still got it … a little bit. But these two had legit interest. Still chatting with them both. One I’ll see when I go back to Bangkok in a couple weeks. A week ago he was talking about coming up to Chiang Mai to spend a weekend together (on his dime). But yeah, neither one has done the sick grandmother routine on me. I’m still getting used to even having one. It’s still new to me. Always have been clean shaven. maybe it’s a similar scenario in the Philippines. I’ve never been. I’ll tell you this though. I had zero luck in Ko Samui. I think because there I didn’t stand out at all. Old white dude central there.

Exactly. I'm willing to pay the premium for blue eyes and/or blond hair. Plus they often have that muscle tone without being too 'roidy looking.

Saw a couple Russian guys on Grindr during my quick 24 hour Pattaya visit a couple weeks back. Didn't see any at the bars but we stuck to Jomtien that night. Straight scores bonus points for me. I visited Europe a half dozen times but never made it to Russia. So when the guy who was showing me around PC pointed out the Russian neighborhood, my ears and other body parts perked up. Definitely plan to seek a Russian out on the next visit at the end of the month. 10,000 baht? No. Maybe 10,000 rubles if they're super hot. Probably should pass on the military role-play request? 😜

I guess on some wacky psychological level I still like a little bit of a chase or hunt. The unattainable always appeals to me. It’s why I love straight guys. It’s the Disney thing. I want what I can’t have in real life. The mystery dude I’m obsessed with from Jupiter seems unattainable. I know he’s not. But I like that he seems like he is. Somehow, this makes sense to me. 😆

Interesting that’s actually one of the things I liked about Jupiter. The guys didn’t seem miserable. They were not all smiles, but they were all business. They were focused. They looked like they knew why they were there. There was action and movement. We’ll see if it holds my top spot when I get back to Bangkok in a couple weeks. It’s such a tossup. I will seriously be crushed if that guy is not there. 😆 But yeah, I did like not being hovered over at many of the other bars. The hard pitch is so unnecessary. It’s not like guys stumble into these bars not knowing if they wanna play they can pay. An easy way to get me to never come back is to pounce on me the moment I walk in. Especially when I’m solo. And Jupiter didn’t do that. They scored big points with me on that. It’s easier when I’ve got my buddies with me. It’s just so goddamn annoying. I’m pissed none of them were able to make this trip that I normally travel with. I mean, who cant do a two month vacation at the drop of a dime? 😜 But back to the guys demeanor… The saddest thing is when you walk in and they just look miserable and they’re standing there doing nothing for 20 minutes as if they’re being scolded. (Although I could see that being a fantasy if it was intentional.)

Finally had an overdose of eye candy... again, not locals. But JFC my island tour today was a goldmine of 20 somethings who spend time, but not too much time, at the gym. One group was from Tunisia. Muscle frat boys with too much volume and their Instagram posing obsessed girlfriends... but the guys had perfect bods that somehow made them less annoying. Also on our tour, I fell totally for this Spanish guy probably about 22ish. He and his girl (assuming) were having a spat. A couple times when I offered to take a pic for them she asked for solo pics too. Ouch. 😆 He didn't seem too bothered. I sent a pic to a couple of you but I don't feel comfortable posting it here on a public forum. But dark haired Euro boy with nice abs, developing chest. Killer smile. Ugh I was in love. Then when we got to "Pig Island" a boat full of twinks from another tour jumped off all ready for the beach. The pigs were no longer the star of the show. I was playing with my new GoPro. Somehow the twinks ended up in lots of the shots of the pigs. Must be a glitch in the camera. After we did some snorkeling (pretty subpar - no colorful reefs but at least a few tropical fish, but gave me a chance to try the GoPro underwater) and then lunch at this beautiful abandoned other side of the island... it was really a great deal for $50ish. About a 6 hour tour I booked through Airbnb. TripGuru was the name of the company hosting. Pickup and drop-off at my place in Lamai Beach included.

Tried the canned coffee this morning. Liked it. Coffee milk was a thing I remember living near Rhode Island for a few years. Haven’t had it in years. And yeah the towels are vital. This is the one I get. Was surprised my buddy who lives in Bangkok had never noticed them. Probably more of a tourist thing.

Someone asked last week if the fire shows are nightly. Didn’t know as I’d only been here a couple days at that point. I think they are nightly on Chaweng. Here in Lamai they seem to be 4 or 5 nights a week. It’s definitely more chill than Chaweng. Which isn’t so bad. The beach walk is awesome at night. No fire shows tonight.

If there was good news’s to report on that front I’d be all over it. 😉. Dude it’s a bust in every sense on Samui. Grindr . Bars. Spas. All 👎 Even 7 Eleven staff is usually C-. I think it’s just tough to follow Bangkok. Still enjoying KS though for what it is - a chill out It’s felt like my Asian trip is on a pause. It feels like I’m in Daytona Beach.
