Irrelevant when it comes to my budget lol... I paid less than that to fly here from the US (one way). Japan is a passive curiosity. If it was in the $100-200 range, maybe I'd jump. But I'll stick with Thailand. I left the last 2 weeks open in case some US friends fly over. Or it gives me time to back if another place I visited gives me the feeling that I just didn't spend enough time. I doubt Chiang Mai or Ko Samui will deter me from spending my last 2 weeks in October here in Bangkok. If Japan was cheap, it might've been an option. But it's really on the periphery of my interest in Asia. Maybe I'll make it a separate trip before the move or just do a visit when I live here.

Jeez if flights weren't so expensive I'd do that for my last 2 weeks here. $500ish roundtrip from BKK. But I'll do a little reasearch when I get back to the States. Thailand really impressed me though. And I'm only on the first leg of the trip. Gonna be tough to beat Bangkok.

Glad to have him as my tour guide tonight. Going to try to get in as much as I can as I am pretty sure I'll be coming back tomorrow afternoon or if I get really adventurous I'll do a latenight grab ride if I have to do one more night. But that'd be one less Friday night in Bangkok. I need to clone myself lol.

Gotcha I was just remarking how different it was not being able to see anything from the street. Most of these places have the guys sitting outside or within easy view from outside of guys in the lobby. I wouldn't have been able to participate regardless with my dude right there. Keeping him unaware of my massage parlor and go go bar excursions.

I prefer he’s “my dude.” it’s fun hearing him say that word. He definitely didn’t learn it in English class. It makes him crack up laughing. Plus using the word boyfriend makes me feel guilty when I explore the bars later after he leaves. 😆

Wednesday night update... I don't think there's going to be any bar time tonight. My Grindr guy and I are still going strong... I mean it's almost a week. I can't remember the last time a guy's been in my life for a week. Let alone one where I don't have to hit the ATM. Don't know what he sees in this old bag o' bones, but it's been nice. He's from Tokyo so tonight I found one of those Japanese spots where you cook your own meats at the table. He loved it. Owner was from Japan so they got to speak in their native. When we got back to my Airbnb, even though we were full as hell, we burned some calories. So it's 10pm now. He has to teach in the morning so he's in the Grab on the way home. Me... I'm sitting here trying to encourage myself to go out and expand my now infamous rankings. But it might have to be put on hold until I get back from Pattaya. I'm beat. BTW the restaurant is "Tokyo Beef." Well worth trying. And it's near Senso. I haven't been there yet. Was odd to see a gay massage place with no boys out front. I definitely wanted to pop my head in, but yeah, he doesn't know about that part of my visit so we kept walking.

Home base will always be the US. This isn't some rash decision or one based on the go go bars. My plan is to live in a new country every 2 years with maybe 6 month buffers in the US between each move. The purpose of this trip was to see if there's anything that jumps out at me that I don't like. I thought I'd hate the heat/humidity. Or I thought there's be really bad air pollution. My big things are a good healthcare system, quality of life, affordability. That's why Chiang Mai is my gut on where I'll probably choose to unpack a few suitcases. Other countries I plan to spend a year or two in... Colombia (been there a dozen times now), Germany, Portugal and maybe Costa Rica. But rest assured, this isn't a "wow these bars are awesome I should move here" kind of thing.

haha you're adorable and I appreciate your concern... but the moving here ZERO to do with the scene. This has been researched to death over the past year... studying the health care system, quality of life, neighborhoods, etc. I am posting so much about the bars and clubs only because it's what the message board is about. But the go go bars, massage parlors, etc... zero influence on this decision.

Do you guys do an annual type of get together? I'll try to plan around that next time if you do. My timeline rn is to head back to the US in October. Start packing, start selling. And then move to Thailand hopefully by May or June.

With word that 5000 US sailors are invading Pattaya, I decided to book a room there for tomorrow night. Sounds like it's best to head to the airport and then get a bus/van for a few bucks? I know you can do a Grab for $50 each way, but eh, would rather spend that on fun. If there's a bus or van that leaves from Silom, that'd be great, but I have a feeling it's the airport that makes the most sense.

I don’t wanna say I’m already a legend or anything here in Bangkok, but they’re naming places after me. Breakfast this morning was a bacon and cheese sandwich that was phenomenal with dessert in the form of a s’mores cookie at Fat.P “the fat kids eatery.”

Gotta say though the 2 guys sitting next to me who came in... we were pointing out who'd be the "if I had to pick one" of the guys on stage, and they picked the old dude. By the end of my night at Banana tonight there were probably about a dozen or more customers.

So I gave Banana until about 11. A few dancers closer to the twink look did join in but yeah, none that got my juices flowing. The twink waitstaff had some promise, and I know I can off them, but the night could've been a win if they were part of the show. I popped my head into 2 others and kept moving... Jupiter had a drag show and no guys in sight. And Tawan... I DID see 3 guys but none that I'd reply to on Grindr. So yeah it was a short night. I almost popped back into see the muscle twink from last night at Super A but just called it a night. Again, don't read in to my not getting into these places. It's a Tuesday night and I wasn't horny tbh haha... have had plenty of free fun with my Grindr guy and plus I got that "massage" in this morning. If I move to Kok or CM and find all those YouTube videos were wrong I can always move. Pattaya just seems like a good place to visit and go wild for a few days. But didn’t seem remotely appealing as a place to live.

Keen observation. I’m thinking of popping over for a night or two on the last part of my trip in October. I just wanted to limit it to three cities that I was really thinking about living in. from watching YouTube videos I didn’t see pattaya as a place I’d want to live. But yeah, this trip wasn’t so much to go to the bars . It was more to see where I might retire to. My thinking is that I can visit Phuket or pattaya once I live here.

Next show is 3 of the dudes in towels doing a chair routine. Not bad. The entertainment is def a step above the other places I’ve been to. Lights and sound are nice. 7 customers now.
