So I’ve been doing a bit of Google and TikTok searching for host bars in Pattaya and have come across several that aren’t in the usual gay spots. All have boys with number badges, so I assume they can be offed? But I don’t see them mentioned on the board here, or in any Pattaya guides. I am following several of them on TikTok and many have live feeds, so they are legit with lots of boys.
Anyone shed any light on these places? Why are they not mentioned? Is there something I should know about them? Some of them have very attractive guys.

Your reply makes a lot of sense Vessey. I figured if these places were really opportunities for the gays, someone would have figured it out! I was assuming that they catered to a straight crowd. I didn’t even think of Thai women who might want a night out to flirt.

I can only really comment on Friendly Club that I know and love. Actually there are two of them now, the original on Soi Kapai and a sister one a couple of hundred metres away.  They are essentially Karaoke Bars, although not like the little intimate singing karaoke bars of old (maybe still are). THese are indeed more like host clubs with anything from 20-50 badged boys on stage on any one night. Most Karaoke boys are straight, but some can, to varying degrees, prove 'gay for pay'.
The badge numbers are essentially to identify them during the hourly call-downs (usually about 200 baht a time for each boy). Some places like Diamond Karaoke they can usually be offed (if they are willing of course) in other places (like Friendly) that has to be done by private negotiation with the boy when the places closes (5-6am?) as the mamasans will insist that they are only host bars.
I say, if they are willing, because gay customers are not the target clientel, it is ladies, often bar girls with money in their pockets from satisfying sweaty old farang like me during the day, out to party with pretty young Thai boys. (Again I would say that Diamond is as close to gay-friendly as I have found, its boss used to be one of the 'big cock boys' in X-Boys on Soi 13/3 until a few years ago and understands his gay cutomers).
I love these places but, being farang, I still feel more comfortable if I am bringing one or more Thai boys (offed from the bars) with me to party. Once the whisky is flowing these places can be huge fun, but they are not cheap; every boy you call down is 200 baht (or more ?) for an hour of partying (and usually flirting) with you. Some karaoke boys are happier flirting with a gay crowd than others - but usually always plenty of takers. If I bring two or three boys in with me, and get through one or two bottles of whisky, and calling down two or three boys to join us every hour for a few hours, a 'bin' of 6,000 baht or more is not uncommon.  So not an every-night thing unless you have deeper pockets than mine.
These are essentially Thai establishements aimed at Thai customers, but I have never yet been refused entry at one: baht is king!

This makes me wonder, do you ever have to ask a boy to be clean “down there” or is it a given they know to be clean? Do they usually shower before you off them? It sounds like Thais are very into hygiene so I’m assuming this does not need to be said.

They will bring it up, I wouldn't assume you're going to find any thai guys in pattaya just looking for hookups, it might happen but it's probably rare if they're attractive.
Filters on photos is fairly common, but someone completely different showing up hasn't happened to me yet in Pattaya. It can happen the same as anywhere else though, just go with your gut. if something feels off then ask for a quick Line video call before they come or meet them outside the entrance of the hotel before you go inside.

I jumped on Hornet a few days ago- wow, lots of boys! Thank god there’s an alternative to Grindr.
Im not seeing many $ or MB symbols. What if I just said, “I’m in Pattaya for a week, would you come to my hotel?” I would think if they’re a MB they will then bring up price. If they say yes but don’t mention money, then maybe just a hookup? 
also how many are scammers? Like, they are 10 years older or they are looking to rip me off. Is that common or rare?

For those of us who haven’t been, has anyone put together a list of gogo or hybrid bars in Jomtien/BoysTown/Sunee and what type of boys (e.g, hunks, straight guys, twinks) can be found there? I for one would love a guide 😃

Don’t count out Scruff, i have found Grindr really went downhill. I’m having some lovely conversations with younger guys on scruff ahead of a trip next month to Europe. Lots of young guys who like daddies. Customer support on scruff has been amazing too, I had a tech issue and they resolved it in less than an hour. Grindr took at least a week to ever get back to me. 

Not my thing but I would ask the mamasans who would bottom. I think there would be enough.

it varies by the time of day on Grindr .  I see that Grindr  peaks around start time at the massage shops - between 5pm to 6pm - and then fluctuates throughout the evening..
More importantly, it varies by the APP that you use.
Grindr is the most popular APP for tourists passing through the Pattaya / Jomtien area.
But, the NUMBER 1 - APP in my opinion, for us that live there - it is:    
Most Thais, Laos, and Cambodians - that is where they hang out.
In third place is the  APP - formerly BLUED.

1 As described, profile with MB, dollar signs etc.
2 Thai including รับงาน (accepting work) & variations of that, particularly abbreviations (Be careful. รับ=accepting, so when used alone, this indicates his sexual position, as far as I understand)
3  If you are visibly over 50, have a profile picture and he's still talking to you, there's a good chance he's a money boy. But not certain.  If in Pattaya, a very very good chance.

Same on Grindr. MB or money symbols or they will disclose in the first couple of messages that they are MB or masseurs. They are on the apps for business, not for long chats. You could ask what they do for a living. If he has a regular job, I would assume that he is not a money boy.

My experience with apps is miniscule and with Grindr only but usually subject of compensation was raised by boy in the latest 2nd sentence , usually as" I'm MB' or " how much you give me ? ". Another indicator is profile saying " not for fun".
