In effect that will be an additional operating cost for bar staff which must be borne by someone down the line…
-
Old topic I know, but if you’re in the Gangnam area try JRBar (Loba). It is a host bar with bottle service, many English speaking hosts. Specialises in Whisky and Champagne.

Kaikan Onsen: First Impressions Straight away you’ll notice how different Kaikan feels compared with some of the older saunas in Bangkok like Sauna mania. There’s a modern sleekness to the building, a strong Japanese aesthetics/minimalist vibe. Plenty of pools and zones, a real men‑only playground. It has a spacious main pool and a long jacuzzi pool beside it. It is the only onsen style men facility with outdoor pool in Bangkok. All others are entirely indoors. The Crowd & Vibe This place is not cliquey in the way that some places can feel (“you must know someone, you must be part of a group…”). It leans open and inclusive. Body types? Everything from lean twinks to more mature guys, a lot in their 30s to 40s, comfortable in their bodies, relaxed rather than hyper‑sculpted. With an occasional bear. Age range seems broader too, older guys show up, they mix in, and there’s less of that “everyone must be 23 and ripped” pressure than in some rivals. Please do your research on the onsens before you go. Ryuu onsen for example is notorious in being cliquey and making those who don’t fit their criteria feel unwelcome. While the onsens in Bangkok does not have clear age boundaries like many saunas in Japan. That does not mean you are made to feel welcome everywhere (!) Facilities Worth Mentioning Outdoor pool: one of the few gay men‑only onsen/sauna venues in Bangkok that features a proper outdoor pool area. Multiple zones: steam room, sauna, milky bath, cold pool, and a “cave”‑style milky pool that gets a lot of thumbs up for mood. Lockable cabins and private rooms upstairs, good for chilling or more discreet chats. The place is “busy but not chaotic” and the crowd “friendly, educated”. Please bring condoms and lube if you intend to spend early time in the lockable or not so lockable cabins upstairs. If you want to attend the secret hour, then lube and condoms are provided free of charge. The “Secret Hour” There’s a special moment from around 8:30 pm upstairs where things shift. Models in glowing necklaces appear; and are available for fun in public. The vibe becomes more party‑charged, play enters into the mix, orgiastic. If you’re comfortable with more “social” or “interactive” atmospheres, this is when the scene deepens. Pro Tips: Arrival earlier in the evening gets you better space in the pool areas; if you turn up late, you might find the premium spots taken. While the place feels inclusive, staff are a bit tight lipped. Pricing is transparent but premium compared with some older saunas (450B during weekend). Also be aware of the day (complete nude day etc check their facebook beforehand) Also you will be informed which models will be attending the secret hour. I will not review the facilities in depth as this has been done on YouTube:

Updates: Dragon and Koi has now been renamed Rainbow Dragon. It now also has a sister bar next to G’s called «Unicorn». Staff from Dragon work there once a week in rotation. I noticed that the main bar seems to have more customers these days at least on the weekends.

My guess is that you offed either #33 or #17 from Goodboys.
-
The Prince is primarily a walk-in place so Line is mostly unneeded. I will send you the Lines of the other two.
-
I know Ssense and Wabi Sabi can handle walk-ins, but bookings are strongly advised for the popular boys. They have updated pictures on Line. So Line chat is the easiest method to book…

The Thai middle class got a notorious debt problem. So his story is very familiar.
-
Prince , Arena and Senso are all solid picks, but be aware that they are full service places (H). If you want massage first and something that does not involve penetration, then Ssense, Prestige and Wabi Sabi are other choices in the area, but of course you might get lucky there too.

I found a new favorite bar in Phnom Penh :-)
Enchanted_Elixir replied to Frenchfrank's topic in Gay Cambodia
It is quite new. I went there on my last trip and it seemed it was still finding its crowd. Glad to hear the vibes were good. I quite like the more relaxed, fun vibe of Phnom Penh. -
Fafa, Ganymede and Jey spa are all H places. You can try Glam’s, or Sanctuary Spa (close to Lumpini) also H.

@emiel1981 Add this place to your list. It is upscale but not too expensive, however it is a bit outside the Silom ghetto. BKK signature (formerly the Posh massage): https://x.com/6naturemassage?s=21&t=SsPuhwR7PT9SKfSlpkJZOA

Many of the massage shops got common management, I would not be surprised if Klover and History share the same admin. I think part of the confusion here comes down to expectations and the cultural differences between the types of shops: H, S, SS. S and SS shops are primarily massage-focused. They follow the Thai “service first, see where things go” philosophy. The experience is built around anticipation and rapport. You never quite know how far the chemistry will take you on that particular day. Management at such places will say that they are about massage only. Some places bend the rules occasionally, but that doesn’t suddenly change their category. Just because someone got lucky at Klover doesn’t turn it into something it isn’t. Likewise 6 months ago there was a review of Olivia massage where someone got lucky, it lead to great confusion here where some people thought you could start to inquire into the roles of the masseurs and what not, which you certainly could not. H shops are the opposite end of the spectrum. Everything is explicit and guaranteed from the start. You walk in knowing exactly what you are there for and what you will receive. It can be great if that clarity is what you want, but it can also feel very transactional. Different people enjoy different dynamics. Some love the slow burn and the surprise. Others want a sure thing. Both exist because there’s demand for both. The key is choosing the shop type that matches your mindset on the day. «Go and see for yourself.»

I can offer some insight, also to @emiel1981 We are not systematic on this forum, but in Thai massage reviews they make distinctions between S, SS and H massage places depending on the service offered. Some places like Jey Spa, Senso man club and The Prince are classified as H places where full service is offered and expected. S - Soft (HJ mostly) and SS - super soft (B2B) places have stricter rules. Their owners want to keep up a veneer of respectability. Thus there is a limit to what the therapists can offer, and going beyond that will incur the wrath of management. These places will usually offer massage at a much higher level. Whereas at H places massage can often be simply five minutes of dry rubbing. Ssense is SS, whereas Prestige at least used to be strictly S. However Prestige has at least two OF models in their roster Maioak and Gabbies. These classifications and rules does not mean that more is never offered at such places, but that will not be discussed in a public forum like this.

I have been very pleased with Guy!

I can confirm that Chillax massage, Relax and 9-teen boy all got Line accounts where you can make reservations if you like and see pictures. Reservations are not needed for those shops however.

Ok, the Thai economy is not doing the best, yet the Thai Bath is strong, let me point to a few explanations. A weak US dollar, a big part of the baht’s strength comes from the fact that the dollar is weak, it is the world’s reserve currency after all. The THB looks stronger by comparison. Strong gold prices + Thailand’s gold flows. The Thai economy has significant gold related activity and gold-related flows. Gold prices are at an all time high, and this generates foreign exchange flows (people converting into THB) which pushes up the THB. Gold holds a deep cultural significance in Thai society, where it is used for savings, a vehicle for passing down inherited wealth and for religious purposes. The country is one of the top 10 gold markets in the world. Capital inflows: Thailand is seeing more money flowing in than going out, which supports the currency. Exports + services + investment. Money from scam centres in neighbouring countries are also laundered in Thailand. Regional currency dynamics, much of the strength is not linked to Thailand’s economy itself but because other dynamics changed (dollar, yen, gold). Also neighboring countries have a high demand for THB, especially Myanmar.

Just to provide some context, most of the Crown Jewels of France no longer exist. Taken apart during the 1790s, the remaining ones purposefully destroyed by the republican government after 1870 as a response to the conflict with the royalist factions. So unless returned, the materials from that era gone forever.

I get the instinct. Fabergé eggs feel like beauty weaponised by wealth. But beauty isn’t owned by oligarchs. It is a school for the senses, and the poor deserve admission first. Think of a flat with a cracked wall, a rickety table, a kettle on. Hang a small painting. Lay a clean cloth. Light a candle. These are not distractions from material need. They are forms that teach attention, patience, and care. Form educates desire before slogans do. If you want solidarity, start with a room that makes friendship easy. I’m no defender of luxury baubles. Craft over spectacle. A hand-thrown mug, a well-mended coat, a parish banner carried through the estate on a feast day. These “useless” things are in fact useful. They bind a street. They tutor the gaze. They make fidelity imaginable. The market sells us décor as mood. But common life needs «liturgy». Weekly meals, shared tools, a wall everyone helps repaint, a mural the children touch up each term. Beauty becomes a public good when it shows up in durable forms that ordinary people can use and keep.

Newly migrated expat, had a couple questions
Enchanted_Elixir replied to ZSTOYTRA's topic in Gay Bangkok
Welcome to Bangkok, @ZSTOYTRA You’ve landed in just the right city, and honestly, in the right phase of life. There’s something about Bangkok that rewards curiosity, boldness, and good skincare. First things first: download LINE. It’s the app here, more than just texting, it’s your ticket to the social scene. Now, hop on Grindr (yes, again) but use it strategically. Go into chatting mode and start connecting with guys in the Bang Rak area. Be friendly, flirty, maybe swap a few pics (we all do it), and you might just get invited into some private LINE groups. Many are in Thai, but there are a few English-speaking ones hosted by internationally-minded locals, and those are gold. That’s where you find out about off-grid events: private parties, group trips to onsens, clubbing nights, chillouts at Kaikan Onsen (people literally spend the whole day there). It’s social, a bit steamy, and surprisingly supportive. Your scene at this stage? Clubbing, saunas, and onsens tend to be the holy trinity for the 30s crowd, with the occasional massage added in for good measure. Around New Year’s, things explode with the White Party, even if circuit raves aren’t your thing, the energy spills over. Bars, lounges, even cafés start throwing their own spin-off events. Early January is a mad, sexy rush of packed venues, beach bodies, and terrible decisions. In short: lean in. Since you’ve made the leap, new city, new continent, why not lean into a health glow-up, too? Gyms here are plentiful and cheap, and personal trainers are surprisingly affordable. Skip the fried street food every now and then (just… not the mango sticky rice, let’s be reasonable). Surround yourself with guys who prioritise their health, it’s contagious in the best way. If you’ve got the budget, GLP-1 meds like Wegovy or Mounjaro are available too. No shame in a little modern chemistry if you’re doing it safely and with goals in mind. You’re at an age where your body wants to bounce back, give it the support it needs now, and your 40-year-old self will buy you dinner in gratitude later. In short: Put yourself out there. Be open. Build habits and friendships that fuel the best version of you. Bangkok can be a playground or a pressure cooker, the difference is mindset. Good luck, have fun, and maybe we’ll see you at the next pool party. Just look for the guy in sunglasses trying very hard not to stare. 💦👀✨ -
Thanks @jimmie50 for such an unfiltered review of Phoenix.

He’s a cutie and he’s on Hornet too. I have yet to be disappointed at Jey Spa.

No need for the website or Line anyway, you just go there and choose your guy from behind the glass no prebooking required. The mamasan will answer any of your queries regarding boy e.g. T only or T/B.
