You just prompted a nice touching memory of how an extremely bright, interesting, funny friend may have facilitated my progression to being out, by association. I don’t particularly hear the stereotype as somewhere along a masculine-feminine continuum, or macho vs effeminate. Women I know don’t actually speak that way. I hear it as a specifically camp (even then, not quite the best term) or gay-coded style of speech, along an axis of highly marked to relatively understated. A habitual unselfconscious speech pattern rather than a deliberate affectation. I don’t see a heated rivalry here. Neither physically appeals to me, but that should be no more relevant than any others’ preferences. There are few social contexts where sexual desire activation is the key agenda. If I were to have the remaining senses of a Helen Keller and some personal sense it might fly with the scent of a Brut pocket atomizer. Sometimes the content is useful. Beyond the high-pitched screeching, the attraction is that the content is useful. I think it’s very sad and one cannot know all of the backstory or clinically relevant drivers for self-annihilation, but what stood out for me from his note was the implication that unrequited love interest was a predominant one, essentially the last straw. I wonder if that was a quiet parting sting directed at a particular person. Additionally, once the time release message was out there that step may have anchored the follow-through, its particular mode preventing back-pedalling. Aborting a relief all round but perhaps the poor guy would have envisioned a potentially embarrassing ‘cry-wolf’ shadow dogging him.

Time, the only currency you can’t get back, so if what’s on offer doesn’t earn interest, what’s spent is sunk cost. But I saw this as a notification in my feed without my mentally embedding it in somebody’s travel report of several pages, so I now grasp better how the trend evolves, how easy it is to inadvertently contribute to conversation that actually exacerbates the premise I suggested, and why a newer less familiar reader is less capable of seeing the forest for the trees.

You are def worth reading. I’d be keen to read a trip review and details without distractions. Maybe a longer report when it’s completed. Travelogue over live commentary. Less detours. I find it hard to remember who introduced the topic. That doesn’t preclude, at that point, response posts, humour, Q&A from other chatty types, references, suggestions, etc. My sense is that the collective intelligence of the chatroom let loose upon report completion would not be any less entertaining and interesting. Obviously that doesn’t mean the core author cannot ask for suggestions. Just my two nickels.
