We have changed the top banner of the site to a lighter color scheme as many here on the forums suggested. We will be changing the colors of the forum in the near future as well. We hope you like the new colors.

You are a busy man. Are you traveling with friends or alone? I am a flighty individual and my plans change from one minute to the next, mostly based on the BF in Thailand. But, I hope to be in Sao Paulo the week before your trip and then in Porto Alegre the same time as you and then in Rio the same as you. I'll be staying in Sao Conrado in Rio.

Many years before this site even opened, I almost opened the same site and had my programmers build it for me but I then met Hooboy and decided that I didn't want to open a competing site. I put the entire project on hold for many years. Going through some old disks today I found the first mockups of what this site would have looked like. I thought some of you may be interested in seeing them.

Here is a bath robe from Rio on the same trip!

From PinkNews.com Four US teens bullied for being gay commit suicide in a month At least four incidents of young men killing themselves after being bullied over their sexual orientation have been reported in the US in the last month. The most recent death was of New Jersey student Tyler Clementi, who jumped from a bridge after his roommate allegedly taped him having sex with a man. Dharun Ravi of Plainsboro, New Jersey, and Molly W Wei of Princeton have been charged with invasion of privacy after they allegedly streamed the footage on the internet. On September 23rd, 13-year-old Asher Brown, from Houston, Texas, shot himself in the head. His grieving parents said he had been persistently harassed by other students who thought he was gay. Fifteen-year-old Billy Lucas, of Indiana, hanged himself on September 9th. Classmates said he had been bullied for years over his sexual orientation. Another 13-year-old, Seth Walsh from Minnesota, died in hospital on Wednesday, eight days after attempting to hang himself from a tree. He is said to have endured taunts and abuse for being gay from other students. It is unclear whether suicides for young gay men are up, or if there has been better reporting of their deaths. LGBT students are known to be at a higher suicide risk than their heterosexual peers. No one is expected to be charged over the harassment which led to the deaths of the three younger boys. In Seth's case, police found that no crime had been committed. In Billy's case, a Facebook memorial set up for him was hit by more homophobic abuse, as well as apologies from some of the students who had harassed him. Meanwhile, Asher's parents say they repeatedly complained to his school about the persecution but officials did not take the reports seriously. One report claimed that Asher had come out to his stepfather on the morning of his death. The Houston Chronicle reported that the boy's stepfather accepted his declaration. In another tragedy, 19-year-old Rhode Island student Raymond Chase hung himself on Wednesday. The student was openly gay but it is not clear whether he had been bullied. The deaths have shocked America and lesbian chatshow host Ellen DeGeneres implored the country to take action and prevent further deaths. Speaking on her daytime show yesterday, the presenter said: "Something must be done. "This needs to be a wake up call to everyone that teenage bullying and teasing is an epidemic in this country, and the death rate is climbing. "We have an obligation to change this." On Clementi, whose body is thought to have been recovered from the Hudson River, she added: "He was outed as being gay on the Internet and he killed himself… One life lost in this senseless way is tragic." New York-based gay rights group Empire State Pride Agenda said in a statement. “It is difficult to say if this is a trend, or if our society is becoming sensitive to this kind of story that we have heard far too often in the LGBT community.” Judy Shepard, mother of the late Matthew Shepard who was killed a decade ago for being gay, called for schools to be made safer. “Our young people deserve better than to go to schools where they are treated this way,” she said. “We have to make schools a safe place for our youth to prepare for their futures, not be confronted with threats, intimidation or routine disrespect.” Forty-four US states have anti-bullying laws, but gay campaigners complain that many are not comprehensive enough and do not detail what bullying can involve. Since Billy Lucas' death, Indiana legislators have promised to tighten laws to help prevent future tragedies. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2010/10/01/four-us-teens-bullied-for-being-gay-commit-suicide-in-a-month/

Interesting Way to Get Platinum Elite with Marriott
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
Thanks Steven. I thought it was interesting that one can reach their Platinum Elite Premium with an investment of less than 1,000 USD. If I found a similar scheme with Hilton and Starwoods, I'd do them as well. -
QANTAS is considering tapping into the booming Brazilian economy by flying either to Sao Paulo or the popular tourist destination of Rio de Janiero. Any decision by the airline to launch flights to Brazil is likely to result in it dropping services to Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, because of insufficient traffic to maintain two routes to South America. Qantas would not comment, but insiders said it was not a surprise to hear that Brazil was high on the airline's list of possible destinations because the resource-rich economy was booming. Sao Paulo's two airports have about twice the annual passenger traffic as those in Buenos Aires. The Australia-Buenos Aires route is understood to still be unprofitable for Qantas despite a general improvement in demand for international flights. Argentina's flag carrier, Aerolineas Argentinas, is planning to fly directly between Sydney and Buenos Aires early next year rather than stop over in Auckland, which would prove a bigger threat to Qantas on the route. However, flying to Sao Paulo or Rio de Janiero would be a challenge for Qantas because of the long flight time. It would have to be flown by a four-engine aircraft such as a 747-400 jumbo, which would not be able to take a full payload because of the distance involved. Some insiders said a broader alliance with Chile's flag carrier, LAN, that allowed Qantas to link to more South American destinations made better sense than launching direct flights to Brazil. Qantas already code shares on LAN flights between Sydney and Chile's capital, Santiago. Insiders also said it was not the right time for Qantas to launch a route and it would be better to wait to see whether the global economy avoided entering a double-dip recession. http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel-news/qantas-looking-at-direct-flights-to-brazil-20100906-14wmt.html

No more excuses AdamSmith: Kill 2 birds with one stone! Singapore Airlines (SIA) will make its maiden flight to South America next year when it opens a route to Sao Paulo in Brazil, the airline announced yesterday. Thrice-weekly flights to Guarulhos International Airport via Barcelona in Spain will commence in March 2011, SIA said in a press statement. "Singapore Airlines has been eyeing opportunities in the fast-growing South American market for some time," said Bey Soo Khiang, SIA's senior executive vice president of marketing and corporate services. "We are pleased to be able to add a sixth continent to our route network and be the only airline offering direct flights between Southeast Asia and Brazil." "We are very excited about this new service which will help boost ties between Singapore and Brazil and pave the way for enhanced trade, tourism and travel links between Asia and South America," Bey added. SIA's route network currently spans 93 destinations in 38 countries across five continents.

Sasquatulate-verb-the act of fleeing from the monster that lurks within the darkest recesses of our being.

Here is the word for this week: absquatulate \ab-skwoch-uh-leyt\, verb: To flee; abscond. "If you try to absquatulate again, I'll sic the FBI on you." Elliott Roosevelt; Murder in the Executive Mansion; St. Martin's Paperbacks; 1996. "You'd thank me to 'absquatulate,' as the Yankees say,"interrupts she, laughing and showing the sweetest, shortest, whitest little set of teeth that ever set dentist at defiance. "Well, I will in a minute; but' I have an errand unto thee. oh, captain.'" -- Rhoda Broughton, Cometh up as a flower: an autobiography Predictably, he is rejected by the people and threats are made on his life (Jeremiah is probably in prison at this time) so the Lord commands him to take his family and absquatulate into the desert. -- "A Book of Mormon Synopsis: The Small Plates," What Mormons Believe blog, January 2009. Absquatulate is an example of a pseudo-Latinism, which combines Latin roots to form a new word. This was a 19th century linguistic trend in various parts of the United States.

Hollywood star Tony Curtis has died of a cardiac arrest at his US home in Nevada aged 85. The Oscar-nominated actor, who starred in Some Like it Hot opposite Marilyn Monroe, passed away peacefully in bed, a family spokesman said. The star received an Oscar nod in 1959 for The Defiant Ones, in which he starred with Sidney Poitier. Continue reading the main story Related stories * Obituary: Tony Curtis * In pictures: Tony Curtis * Classic Curtis moments His career spanned six decades and he made more than 120 films including Trapeze, Spartacus and The Vikings. Clark County coroner Mike Murphy told the Associated Press that the actor died at 2125 local time on Wednesday. Born Bernard Schwartz on 3 June 1925 in New York, the actor served in World War II before taking on the name Tony Curtis when he began his film career in 1949. 'A fine actor' He began his career as a heart-throb, but became a respected actor after starring in more substantial roles, starting in 1957 with harrowing showbusiness tale Sweet Smell of Success. He went on to appear in The Defiant Ones as an escaped racist convict handcuffed to a black escapee. But he became best known for his role in Billy Wilder's acclaimed comedy Some Like It Hot, where he donned women's clothing. After his star faded in the late 1960s, Curtis shifted to lesser roles and fell into drug and alcohol addiction. In the 1970s he turned to television, starring in a number of TV series including The Persuaders! opposite Sir Roger Moore, and Michael Mann's Vegas. Sir Roger led the tributes to the actor, calling him "a fine actor". "We had a lot of laughs together for about 15 months, working together every day. He was great fun to work with, a great sense of humour and wonderful ad libs. We had the best of times." 'Wonderfully indiscreet' Sir Michael Parkinson, who interviewed Curtis several times, said his performance in Some Like It Hot would live forever. "Some Like It Hot is one of the greatest comedies of all time," he said. "Billy Wilder, did not suffer fools so for Tony Curtis to work with him and make that film shows just how good he was. He was an extraordinary man. "Hollywood tried to make him into a sex symbol in the 1950s and 1960s but he was his own man. He was a great chatshow guest and was wonderfully indiscreet but he was very bright and did not take himself too seriously," he added. After recovering from addiction in the early 1980s, he later became a painter whose canvasses sold for as much as $20,000 (£12,600). The actor was married six times, including to Psycho star Janet Leigh, with whom he had two children including daughter and actress Jamie Lee Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis, and six children. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11443271

Canada’s prostitution laws unconstitutional, court rules

My best movie date in Thailand was at a movie. I had my BF and about 20 other boys that I was taking out to a disco one night and we all went bowling and to the movie first. A new boy was with the group. I took the back 2 rows of the theater (seats in Thailand are reserved). The seats in the very back are double seats almost like love-seats. They also bring you a blanket to those seats so you are not cold. Well, I went to the back row and sat in the middle and the new boy sat next to me. I thought that was pretty sweet as I guess he didn't know that I really didn't expect any attention from him. He held my hand and cuddled with me. It was very sweet, almost romantic. Then, part of the way through the movie he put his head under the blanket and sucked me off. I was shocked as most Thais are very shy. Once done, he swallowed all the jizz and then sat back up. My long term BF saw this and smiled. I looked at the BF and said, "can I keep this one?" He said OK and the boy was with us for another 2 years.
