As I said before, I take the 95% repeat rate as proof that the boy thinks 1000 is fair to him as well. Some are running after me and I have to fend them off with a stick (both figuratively).
14 hours ago, mauRICE said:Incidentally, sparing the boy a hundred Baht or two isn't being "posh" (do you even know what that word means?); it's called being decent and most customers with human feelings would have given it without being asked.
The same standards I apply to myself, I apply to others. I would take the songtheo and walk to meet the boy at his room, therefore I expect him to do the same and I wouldn't pay for a taxi for him to come to my room.

Not true. If I encounter unreasonable offers, I offer a reasonable amount. My aim is not as low as possible, but what I find reasonable. And I can usually find someone, and 95% are eager for a repeat, meaning they find it reasonable as well.
(I say 95% to account for one boy in Pattaya who came to my room for 1000 the first time we met, but when I asked for a repeat, he said for him to come to my room I would have to add taxi fare or I can come to his room for 1000. Which I did, because I'm not too posh to ride a songtheo and walk a few hundred meters.)

But if [ChristianPFC] he tries to wrangle too much of a bargain and take advantage of a poor man's desperate circumstances as he is wont to do,
Where and when did I write that? If I did, that was artistic liberty to give the events a more interesting or humorous turn.
13 hours ago, mauRICE said:Venues and working boys/girls aren't created equal and one simply can't compare the guys at the higher end establishments and the street hustlers he meets and squeezes and say that customers are paying too much for the former.
In my vast experience, if you take someone from a higher-end establishment or pick up someone from street-trade, if you 500 or 2000 for the encounter, there is no correlation to the service delivered. That's why I go for lower end.
13 hours ago, mauRICE said:The greed and cruelty aside, it's simply misleading and misrepresentative to newbies reading this forum. He should confine his remarks to the shitholes he visits and is accustomed to "all over Thailand".
Can you elaborate on "greed and cruelty"? The misrepresention is presenting expected tips of 2000 THB as the norm. I provide an opposing view that a good time can be had for much less (1000 online vs. 500 own drink, 500 boy drink, 500 off fee, 2000 short time tip = 4500).
Furthermore, I wish to point out that my various detractors have never met me and judge me by what I write, whereas members who have met me and know me in person defend me against unfounded accusations.

The tip you pay is your way of thanking the boy you have just been with. If you are basically in the category of being poor, it will inevitably be on the small side. If you are well off, it ought to be much higher - although there are skinflints everywhere.
I call it unreasonable. Around all ages and places, prostitution cost about a daily wage. Only when first-world tourists meet second and thirds world prostitutes, things get out of order. I have been asked for 2000, 2500 and 3000 THB as well, completely out of question, and not even a base for negotiation. Fortunately, there are some around who agree on a reasonable 1000, and there is street trade for 500.
500-1000 is in line with a daily wage and what I consider reasonable. Cambodia, where I pay 20 USD, is on the high side; but in Myanmar, for lack of tourists, you can get someone for equivalent of 10 EUR.
I haven't been to Bangkok gogo bars for over 6 years and can't see me ever going again. Why would I pay 500 for a drink to look at boys, when I can get a boy from street trade for the same price? I take all my bar business to Pattaya, and even there increasingly online dating.
How much you tip or pay has nothing to do with your wealth. You pay for a service. Do you pay your hairdresser according to your financial situation?

"All fine here" as in: same as when I went in Jan 2025, and fine by Myanmar standards.

Did you meet him in Pattaya or Bangkok? (Bangkok as per sub-forum?)
Does he have a regular job? Obviously not, else he couldn't spend days in a row with you.
There are guys who ask for money as a side hustle, they might go with people they like for free, and ask others for money. But they would have a regular job.
The fact that he can go for days with you without asking for money is a good start. He must have saving and be in control of his money. Many boys I know, money boys or fun for free with me, are always short of money and just couldn't afford (even if you pay for travel and food, they would have rent or other things to pay).
It happens, but is rare. This year I had one case in Pattaya where a boy came to my room and from his profile I would assume he is money boy, but afterwards he was dressed and out quicker than I could reach for my wallet.

Here my experiences from 2014, still valid:
https://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2014/05/looking-for-room-in-sathorn.html
For two months you will have difficulty, most places have minimum 3 month or even 6 months. I rather recommend a hotel with monthly rental, so you don't have to buy and wash bedlinen and towels and pay water, electricity, WiFi extra.
Most such places have a communal coin laundry. There stand-alone coin laundries as well, or you give your clothes to laundry.
I have been living and traveling without a room safe for 15 years, and the safe would not have prevented the few thefts that occurred.

Different prices for Farang and non-Thai Asian: Stickman put it that way, for lady bars, that non-Thai Asian are more likely to accept the first quoted price (which be an opening point for negotiation), whereas Whites are more like to negotiate.
On 11/27/2025 at 8:22 AM, PeterRS said:Is Saranrom still in existence as a cruising place? I know it was years ago and the price then was Bt. 500. I also know it could be dangerous as shown in a vdo posted on this Board around that time. If it is still on the go, how has the price remained unchanged for around a couple of decades? Have you recently taken someone off from there?
I wouldn't call it a cruising place, it's a place of prostitution. Apart from incident in 2013 (analysis here https://christianpfc.blogspot.com/2024/08/dating-thai-boys-98-at-wrong-end-of.html) I consider it safe. I have taken 5 different boys over the last two years, two of them more than once. Details in my blog under gay activities of the month, or label street trade.
There is a short time hotel S hotel เสาชิงช้า nearby and I recommend taking the boy there. It's just 200 THB and if you take a boy back to your room, he would ask for 100 for taxi back.
The area is now easy to reach with about 10 min walk from MRT Sanam Chai to Saphan Hok (Lifting Bridge) สะพานหก, which I would say is the center. The boys are along both sides of the canal north and south of the bridge.
Most speak little or no English. I once spotted a Chinese ? customer using translation on his phone. When they are in groups, probably one can speak some English and translate for the one you like. Keep in mind most boys are straight, which limits activities.
Most customers come by car, however I prefer walking. It's busy from 8 pm on (which is different from 10 years ago, when it started 10 pm).

There is even one poster (not on this Board) who put forward the view that with the minimum wage in Bangkok being just Bt. 400 per day, anyone being tipped Bt. 1,000 should be thrilled! That clearly takes no account of actual circumstances, even though there may be a certain logic to the argument!
He is absolutely right! Across all ages and places, the average price of prostitution is a daily wage. It's just when first world tourists meet second and third world prostitutes, that things get out of order.
Whereas in Saranrom (streettrade, predominantly local market with Thai customers and Thai providers) boys still go for 500.
When I was in Myanmar in January, prices as low as 30k MMK (about 6 USD) tip for one hour massage and happy ending.

I have to admit I have problems finding boys for 1000 on the apps. I haven't been to Bangkok gogo bars for 6 years because I disapprove of their pricing.

It is very important to distinguish what is asked for or offered and what is actually settled as a deal.

I didn't know and would never know (different tip expectations for non-Thai Asian and Farang).
Whereas that Thai (and I as a foreigner speaking Thai) can get it considerably cheaper, I'm aware of and take advantage of.

I do this when I have my suitcase on my knees between me and the driver and never had an objection.
Else hands on my knees or on my sides. I avoid mocy taxis, I take them maybe 10 times per year, whereas cars 100 times per year.

I didn't know about Nature Boys and Super A. Are they gogos like Fresh boys or a bit different?
Super A used to be gogo, but a few years ago they changed to fully dressed boys and thus lost me as a customer.
Nature Boys is tiny. There is space for a few boys and customers. Which is not my style. When I look through the door to assess the situation (number of boys, music level, smoking), I can instantly see if any of their boys is my type, and if not, which is the usual outcome, it's not worth sitting down for a drink.

Neither of them, they are in different location.
OP, going back in streetview to their oldest picture Oct 2012 doesn't help.
I don't remember any bar there, must have been before my time (first trip to Pattaya 2010).

There are no age restrictions in gay saunas in Bangkok, however the R3 group discourages older by higher entry prices.
A friend is of similar age and looks and likes 39 underground sauna.

Getting medicine from Pulse is rather expensive. You can get the same much cheaper not far away at Pripta or Red Cross.
I prefer Hornet and HeeSay over Grindr.

I would put the end around 2015-17, but you seem to know better. The place has been vacant for many years, with original sign still there (deteriorating). I took pictures, but it would take too long to find them among the many (AI might come to help for picture search). Just two days ago I passed, and now finally, the first time since Happy Boys closed, there is a new business in the premises. That's over 10 years of vacancy!

I assume you are referring to me. This is called ad hominem. You don't bring arguments to support your point of view, you attack my person instead. With made-up defamations. Where do you get the idea I'm "skanky, slum-shoebox-dwelling", and even if I were, how is it relevant to the discussion?
Two friends who have been living in Thailand since 1982 and 1991 share my points of view. I wish I could name a third one (I have more than two friends here, but only these two we occasionally discuss this issue) to claim a combined experience of over 100 years of whoring in Thailand. Just spending time in Thailand doesn't mean you learn how things work, and I have one acquaintance who demonstrates that, but these two, and I as well, have been around a while and seen a bit.
You didn't reply to my post (link below) where I ask for supporting quotes for some of your accusations and defamations.
