  1. I found his blog some time ago, more videos and infos about Thai language for foreign learners. Don't know if he is gay, but thought he is cute, until I saw his chest hair. http://alif-shinobi.blogspot.com/
  2. Back to the original question. With curfew, choices are rather limited. If I were coming for nightlife, I would postpone my holiday. Curfew 10 pm means you should be back in your room at that time, public transport stops earlier and taxis might not be available or overcharge you. Which is the best? You will get different answers depending whom you ask.You should specify what you are looking for. Gogo bar = prostitution, gay club = dancing and drinking, a significant difference.
  3. No curfew (confirmed by a Thai friend). There were traffic delays from Ramkhamhaeng into town (info from Thai friend) due to a roadblock by the army, and I saw soldiers along Ladprao last night.
  4. There is no curfew: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-05-19/thai-military-declares-martial-law-to-curb-protests-denies-coup.html
  5. The most common service charge is 10%. Only once did I encounter 7.5 %, that was in self-service (!!!) food court in Union Mall or Central Ladprao. Unless there is a good reason to eat there, I avoid places that add service charge and/or VAT to the prices displayed in the menu.
  6. What is the current minimum tip for one hour oil massage in these places? I have been pondering for years to go.
  7. I don't base my visits on other's feedbacks or reports. My tastes are very peculiar. No reduction of tip or haggling. Second chance yes, but that place might be at the end of my list. Before I write about a place, I will try to get two samples. Unless someone else found the same before me, than I will confirm (e.g. recent very low numbers of customers in d.blu sauna).
  8. I walked around the park (3 of 4 sides) today. Closed for cleaning 13-18 May. It looked deserted, only few people inside and outside, no tents outside, yellow spots on the lawn where the tents blocked the sun.
  9. I think your chances are higher if you use day dating websites or app, like gayromeo or grindr.
  10. Very low numbers of customers, see reports elsewhere (Sawatdee gay Thailand, cruisingforsex/Thailand). They have call-in masseurs (book in advance). For newcomers, I would recommend to go to well established places.
  11. I beg to disagree, even after many years of learning in school or working in the hotel industry in Bangkok, I would call the general level of English "abysmal".
  12. I would never, ever tip when there is a service charge. (But this is partial because I am against tipping and would prefer a society without tipping.)
  13. It has been a long time that I stayed in a place where a boy had to leave ID at reception, but I remember one phone call from receptionist to ask if everything is ok. Tipping now always in room. Last year I had a boy overnight in Lak Si and we went back to central Bangkok by bus, both of us were standing and had to exit at different stops. Then I realized I hadn't tipped him yet, so I had to do it in the bus. Soon afterwards he send an SMS that he was not happy about that. You tipped the boy in the room and he asked for another tip at the reception?
  14. You just drop by. Entry about 260 Baht, may be more for special events (about 350 for foam party, Songkran, New Year's Eve). I mostly went in the evening/night, so I don't know what's going on in the afternoon. Bear in mind that Babylon closes around 10 pm, so it empties around 9 pm. (from memory, check website for details in every case I use "about" or "around") I went to two foam parties. You wear underwear or swimmwear, no T-shirt, you could wear a towel but that's unsuitable. The foam is about 2 m high in the center, you can get entirely into the foam. I witnessed some nudity and blowjobs in the foam. One out of the foam, it gets cold and wet, an unpleasant feeling. Furthermore, it appeared to me most customers are there for party and not for sex, or at least party distracts from sex. Therefore, I will probably not go to any foam party, but on normal days instead.
  15. Mahidol has a large campus in Salaya, which is in Nakhon Phathom province, your friend should check carefully where exactly he is supposed to work. Chulalongkorn University is largely regarded as the best university in Thailand. Will your friend be working in teaching, research or will he continue studies? I did research for one year in Thailand, and my degree and work experience from Europe were fully accepted.
  16. Gay events are advertised in gay magazines. Unfortunately, there are distribution problems. I wrote about it on my blog, you might want to check out individual venues' websites / facebook sites. http://christianpfc.blogspot.de/2014/03/gay-magazines-distribution-problem.html
  17. I am well aware that there are more, my preference for places in Silom/Sathorn is simply because I often have business in that area, so I walk past regularly. I just avoid places that charge considerably more than the average. It would be no problem for me to find and make myself understood in Thai elsewhere, but there are no places where I regularly walk past. I am not aware of any such places in Chaeng Wattana area.
  18. I have a regular in Thai Best and one in Playboy. I will go to Thai Best first.
  19. I was expecting "... he was in Marilyn Monroe".
  20. Not my prey scheme, but you should find "175 cm / 65 kg/ ages 30's up" in saunas. What do you understand by "dominating action fun"?
  21. There were reports about hooking up with men in uniform around Saranrom park in the afternoon. Despite having spent some time there, I cannot confirm these reports. A friend who is quite successful seducing (maybe not the right word, he is straightforward in his intentions and offers money) straight boys, but he says he never had success with soldiers in groups. I have a fetish for military uniforms (camouflage), but so far no opportunity.
  22. I thought the same. But then I found that conditions in massage shop are better than in my room: dimable light, right temperature, start slow with massage, and I find the masseur's skin glistening from traces of massage oil attractive. My room has 20 sqm, you can get lost on your way to the fridge. Massage room has just the right size, temperature, level of light. My first stop in Silom after my return to Bangkok will be in a massage place.
  23. Oil massage is not "spraying the oil over your body". A good masseur applies the oil to his hands first and then to your body. Pouring oil (cold) on the customer's body is poor style. I had three different masseurs in Lomchoey Soi Ngamduplee last year, and all were good at massage and happy ending. Details here: http://christianpfc.blogspot.de/2013/11/lomchoey-massage-soi-ngamduplee.html (Diclaimer: my experience with massage is limited to about 20 massages in 5 different venues per year.)
  24. 1000 tip for the boy for 1 hour oil massage with happy ending. "a bit more" means I want to get my hands on the boy's body, so he has to undress.
  25. Standard oil massage starts with customer lying on his front, there is little opportunity for the customer to indicate that he wants more. I wait until turn around (lying on my back), then I look at and touch my masseur. Some places have unfavorable lighting, if it's on the ceiling and not dimable, I find it inconvenient because I can't see clearly looking into the light.
