The most common service charge is 10%. Only once did I encounter 7.5 %, that was in self-service (!!!) food court in Union Mall or Central Ladprao. Unless there is a good reason to eat there, I avoid places that add service charge and/or VAT to the prices displayed in the menu.

I don't base my visits on other's feedbacks or reports. My tastes are very peculiar. No reduction of tip or haggling. Second chance yes, but that place might be at the end of my list. I am well aware that there are more, my preference for places in Silom/Sathorn is simply because I often have business in that area, so I walk past regularly. I just avoid places that charge considerably more than the average. It would be no problem for me to find and make myself understood in Thai elsewhere, but there are no places where I regularly walk past. I am not aware of any such places in Chaeng Wattana area.

Standard oil massage starts with customer lying on his front, there is little opportunity for the customer to indicate that he wants more. I wait until turn around (lying on my back), then I look at and touch my masseur. Some places have unfavorable lighting, if it's on the ceiling and not dimable, I find it inconvenient because I can't see clearly looking into the light.
