There are 2 Baht coins that are silver coloured and look very similar to 1 Baht coins, just a bit bigger. Even Thais have problems to see the difference, so most silver 2 Baht coins have a "2" written on them with a blue marker. I encountered 25 and 50 Satang only after 3 years of coming to Thailand, when I started living here. The only place with prices in fractions of 1 Baht I know of are foodland supermarket and buses (6.50 Baht fare).

I went at least once, more than a year ago. The last times I came across WWB or GUY, neither of them had enough boys to entice me in (if there are just 5 boys, I can see in a second that none of them is my type, and I leave without ordering a drink). Have you been to Thailand before? When I came here for the first time (2009), I was on my own, all preparation I had was some reading on the internet. I had no problem to get around and do the standard sightseeing and participate in tourist-oriented gay nightlife. There is nothing intimidating, I would say everything is straightforward. Now I have moved on to explore attractions far off the beaten track and visit gay venues where I am sometimes the only farang. On my first holiday, I met some interesting people (Farang and Thai) at the Malaysia hotel. Unfortunately, that scene has now dried up, as the last sight of a moneyboy outside the Malaysia hotel was months ago. If you have to control your spending, Pattaya is a good place to go as most things are cheaper there. When do you plan to go to Bangkok? Do you intend to use the service of money boys?

For me, long time is staying over night and another round in the morning, in some cases breakfast or lunch together. Waiter I offed. Back in my room, it turned out he is a drama queen. After long discussions (he was unwilling to put on the underwear I gave to him, and we had to negotiate about the light), I asked "Can we have sex now?" - "No!" - "How about tomorrow morning?" - "I don't know." That's enough! I told him to leave (without money). He asked for money for the time he spent with me. So I gave him 500 Baht to avoid further discussion and a bad reputation. With hindsight, I should have given less.

I never had a threesome with gogo boys. Should I ever get into that situation, I would pay both of them the standard tip.

mmjmmj, they ripped you off in all occasions you mentioned. But this was your first visit, and I made mistakes on my first visit as well (even on my second, not being ripped off directly as I am tight with money, but other tricks they play with people new to the business). I don't know of any underground artistic gay scene in Bangkok (but then my focus is mainly on hook ups). From your punctuation in the op I think you mean "gay", "artistic" and "underground" are separate items on your list, whereas commentors interprete it as "gay underground scene" and "gay artistic scene"? The person on this board with the broadest knowledge seems to be pond (if you can decipher his cryptic posts), and I would tentatively put myself on second place. I don't think there are many gay Thai boys who have an overview over the entire gay scene. Roughly, I would say there are the following areas: Silom, Saphan Kwai, OTOKO, Ramkhamhaeng and then there are discos, saunas, internet, street trade, toilet cruising, massage; a broad field to cover.

New BTS lines are being built in northwestern Bangkok and in Nonthaburi, I drove past a few completed stations. I expect opening of the lines within a few years. But I don't think BTS plans their lines to farangs' accommodation needs.

How do you draw the conclusion from the tip a money boy asks for to possible drug addictions? These two things have nothing to do with each other. From my limited experience, the chances to get a boy who is a dud are the same for Soi Twilight (expected short time tip 1500 Baht), Pattaya (1000 Baht) or Saranrom (500 Baht).

Had some delays with taxi to and from Sanam Luang area. Going there took 1h15min, usually 45min. Going back the taxi went across the river to avoid difficult areas, resulting in a fare about 100 Baht higher then usual. Part of Ratchadamnoen and other roads north of it were closed for traffic when I went there earlier this week.

As far as I can tell, you cannot learn Thai from websites, you need to go to school and have a teacher for correct pronunciation. Once you have a basic knowledge in Thai, the websites mentioned become helpful.

I managed to arrange the meeting with the boy who dislikes my facial hair just one day after I got a shave at the barber (after a month without shaving). I did not ask boys who are too hairy to shave. It's not just facial hair, it is a full body problem and would therefore require too much effort.

Rogie, I see no contradiction on having body hair myself and preferring Thai boys without body hair. People have different preference. I like brown skin, they like white skin. Several of my friends do not care at all what kind of underwear I wear. I recently found out that several of my friends like facial hair on me, or don't care. Whereas for me, facial hair and body hair is a big issue. Recently I met a boy from Grindr in Pattaya, and after saying hello the first thing I noticed was that he has thick black hair on his legs, fortunately only below his knees, an area that is not important to me.

I applaud this change and will make use of it next year. This change puts neighboring countries back on my list of places to go for a visa run (I mean entry to Thailand under visa exemption).

I can accept some facial hair, and finally this issue can be solved by shaving. I don't like sideburns, there should be no hair under a imaginary line from eye to ear. I prefer no body hair elsewhere, and facial hair is an indication for body hair. Between elbows and knees, there should only be three patches of hair: armpits and pubes. For pubes it is important to me that no hair sticks out of the underwear and there is no hair on ass, balls and crotch.
