Have you been to Thailand before? When I came here for the first time (2009), I was on my own, all preparation I had was some reading on the internet. I had no problem to get around and do the standard sightseeing and participate in tourist-oriented gay nightlife. There is nothing intimidating, I would say everything is straightforward. Now I have moved on to explore attractions far off the beaten track and visit gay venues where I am sometimes the only farang. On my first holiday, I met some interesting people (Farang and Thai) at the Malaysia hotel. Unfortunately, that scene has now dried up, as the last sight of a moneyboy outside the Malaysia hotel was months ago. If you have to control your spending, Pattaya is a good place to go as most things are cheaper there. When do you plan to go to Bangkok? Do you intend to use the service of money boys?

After long discussions (he was unwilling to put on the underwear I gave to him, and we had to negotiate about the light), I asked "Can we have sex now?" - "No!" - "How about tomorrow morning?" - "I don't know." That's enough! I told him to leave (without money). He asked for money for the time he spent with me. So I gave him 500 Baht to avoid further discussion and a bad reputation. With hindsight, I should have given less.

I never had a threesome with gogo boys. Should I ever get into that situation, I would pay both of them the standard tip.

But this was your first visit, and I made mistakes on my first visit as well (even on my second, not being ripped off directly as I am tight with money, but other tricks they play with people new to the business). I don't know of any underground artistic gay scene in Bangkok (but then my focus is mainly on hook ups). The person on this board with the broadest knowledge seems to be pond (if you can decipher his cryptic posts), and I would tentatively put myself on second place. I don't think there are many gay Thai boys who have an overview over the entire gay scene. Roughly, I would say there are the following areas: Silom, Saphan Kwai, OTOKO, Ramkhamhaeng and then there are discos, saunas, internet, street trade, toilet cruising, massage; a broad field to cover.

New BTS lines are being built in northwestern Bangkok and in Nonthaburi, I drove past a few completed stations. I expect opening of the lines within a few years. But I don't think BTS plans their lines to farangs' accommodation needs.

How do you draw the conclusion from the tip a money boy asks for to possible drug addictions? These two things have nothing to do with each other. Had some delays with taxi to and from Sanam Luang area. Going there took 1h15min, usually 45min. Going back the taxi went across the river to avoid difficult areas, resulting in a fare about 100 Baht higher then usual. As far as I can tell, you cannot learn Thai from websites, you need to go to school and have a teacher for correct pronunciation. Once you have a basic knowledge in Thai, the websites mentioned become helpful.

Rogie, I see no contradiction on having body hair myself and preferring Thai boys without body hair. People have different preference. I like brown skin, they like white skin. Several of my friends do not care at all what kind of underwear I wear. I recently found out that several of my friends like facial hair on me, or don't care. Whereas for me, facial hair and body hair is a big issue. Absolutely! I found it detrimental to announce (when being asked) that I am gay. Fortunately, the Thai word faen can be used for both genders (girlfriend/boyfriend), so I can say I have no faen.
