There are some hints in Tripadvisor's reviews. Still, as Floridarob says, I'd be very much interested to hear the reports from the horse's mouth.

Yes, I have a holiday home in Goa, and have travelled around extensively. 

There is lots of sex on offer, most for free, as young Indians have a thing for white skin, and having sex with a "European ".

Grindr is very active. In the big cities the first 50 will be within around 500metres. 

Do ensure you use protection, as disease is on the increase in India. 

Several of the big cities  including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad have weekly gay events/clubbing which you will find advertised on Grindr  or just ask. 

Most guys are pretty polite and discreet however, so do bear that in mind.

Lots of offers for massage 💆‍♂️ on the apps too.

Goa's gay scene is somewhat limited, and what there is is in the North Goa resorts such as Calangute, Baga, Anjuna etc. Usually 1 event each Saturday.

I will be going to Mumbai, India. Please advise me to book. Why, it will be my first time in India. I don't know the laws there.

Hi, I stayed there in July last year for several nights in Delhi. It was a guest house and was basically the top floor of a residential building. 4 or 5 guest bedrooms, each with ensuite, a central living / dining area and a outdoor terrace. There was a kitchen but that was used by the  cook / caretaker. It was okay overall but possibly more glamorous / fresher looking in their advertising. They provided a cooked breakfast and you could order lunch and/or dinner from the cook if you wanted to. No mini bar fridge in room but you could use the big fridge in the dining area. It was in a residential area. Few blocks from the metro. Large shopping mall area about 10-15 min autorickshaw ride away (depending on traffic jams). I was the only guest at yhe time, but it was off season.

It was good as a place to bring back hook ups from apps etc. Although not sure about anyone staying overnight as I just a had few day visitors. They also offered in-house massage, but none of the men they had available at the time did anything for me.

I read some posts on gay chat forums in Delhi while I was there that suggested it was a bit expensive (for locals). It seemed ok to me but it was my first time in India. I did notice their tours were bit more pricey than other commercial options, such as for a day trip to the Taj MaMahal.

And remember it's a guest house so doesn't necessarily have all the hotel frills.

Would I stay there again - Probably not, but mainly because I realised from that trip that I needed a place with access to a pool to cope with the heat and humidity ...

Also worth mentioning that the lift only went to the floor below and you had to walk up stairs to the top level. So if you are not good with stairs may be an issue.

Thanks for your review. There are a lot of very nice hotels in Delhi at competitive rates. Based on your review, it doesn’t sound like it really provides a particularly gay or special experience. 

I was in Delhi this past winter and stayed at the Lalit Hotel.   It’s a very nice place, close to Connaught Circle, and is known to be gay friendly.  There’s a bar in the hotel called Kitty Su which has a gay night once a week, (although I didn’t go to it).   I believe it’s either Wednesday or Thursday.  
While I was staying there I hooked up with another guest, an Indian lawyer from Mumbai who was in town for work.  I also had a local guy visit me there.  He was introduced to me by a friend I met in Goa.  There is security at the hotel entrance, but he had no trouble getting in (2 days in a row).  He told them he had a meeting with a client.  It helped that he was 40ish and well dressed.

it’s a 5 star hotel, so it might be expensive if you’re on a tight budget, but for me it was worth it.   Delhi can be overwhelming (all of India actually) so it’s nice to have an oasis of calm.  

I’m planning my New Year’s Eve trip and, after reading Floridarob’s recent thread about his experience in Kolkata, I thought, “Why not India?”

 

I’d love suggestions for a destination in India where I can enjoy the festivities as a solo traveler and connect with fun, easy-going young locals who are friendly and open to hanging out. I’m looking for a place with nice hotels and a lively but relaxed vibe—ideally, somewhere with a great bar or rooftop where I can celebrate, enjoy the evening, and maybe watch fireworks, without it being a hardcore, all-night clubbing scene. Any ideas or recommendations from the group?

I have never been to India, but several Indians recommended Kerala to me. Not only as a place with the most beautiful nature, but also as a place where you can find sex with locals.

What did you think of Bengaluru? I have been reading that there a lot of young people around from all over India because of all of the IT employment opportunities. Also read that they have great restaurants and bars and that the climate can be a bit more moderate compared to Delhi and Mumbai. Did you like the place? Any gay bars? Spa? Thanks for the tips.

Some people are born rich....not like myself at 82 forced to slave months & months working day in day out , to save for me Thailand trips .....life is not fair 😭

The Taj Mahal is a long way from Delhi for a day trip - approx. 230 kms and well over three hours by road. Plus I assume you arrive at Agra after 10:00 am by which time the crowds have really built up. Although it's many years since I was in Agra, I was up before sunrise to see dawn break over the Taj - a superb sight. Since I stayed for 2 days, I also visited in the late afternoon when again the sun was lower in the sky and the shadows gave the Taj a more fascinating look. Frankly, I cannot imagine being there in the heat of the day with the sun high in the sky which makes the Taj look almost two dimensional white.

If you are in Agra for more than one day, it is also worth taking time to visit Fatehpur Sikri, little more than an hour away. One of the Mughal Emperors had had the city built around 1580 to be his capital but it was discovered there was insufficient water. It was then abandoned and became a ghost city, although about 30,000 still live there. The mosque is said to be a copy of the one in Mecca. Built mostly of red sandstone in the Mughal and Indian architectural styles, at sunset it looks magnificent.

Went to the Red Fort, some shopping, to eat then to Taj, hired a photographer.... had enough time to get the 535p train back to Delhi 730p

Timings have obviously improved since I was there. But I still think if anyone wishes to see the Taj Mahal in its ful glory, he has to be standing there before sunrise and in the late afternoon. Photos are great in the middle of the day/early afternoon, but really they could be taken against a white painted backdrop. Nothing beats the sight before you when the horizon is black and the sky slowly brightens as the sun comes up, turning the Taj into different colours. And the same in the late afternoon as the shadows lengthen. I thought both my visits were utterly magical.

With all respect to those who wish to see the Taj and do not have more time than for a quick day trip, that sight is certainly way better than not seeing it. But it is a little bit like going to Pokhara in Nepal to stand at the viewing point at Sarangot and seeing the many mountains in the Annapurna Range in bright sunlight. That is nothing like watching dawn break over those 14 peaks over 7,000 meters.
