October 6, 20241 yr I was there last year but did not do any boy chasing so can't help with original question. It's one of least visited countries in Americas so everybody will have an impression of being only foreigner in town, Ciudad Del Este and Encarnacion , both border cities being bit of exception. Buses are great, one of best I ever travelled with everywhere. Ruins of Jesuite missions near Encarnacion are very worth of visit, more so than similar on Argentinian side. National dish called sopa paraguaya is , despite of the name not a soup. .

To my taste, men are gorgeous, many mestizos with Guaraní blood: darker skin, tall, smooth. Prices are super cheap for everything if you come from US/Europe. I would not call "sopa paraguaya" their national dish, but it is delicious. If you visit, you should also try "chipa", and the less known but equally delicious "mbaipu". If you speak Spanish, listening to some Paraguayan radio stations may be an entertaining experience. They mix Spanish with Guaraní, which adds to the already unique local dialect, a very fast spoken Spanish very different from the Rio de la Plata's.
October 22, 20241 yr Active Members I was in Paraguay 30+ years ago and it was the only place where I saw a blond shoeshine boy. The Chaco is an interesting, somewhat desolate detour to have kaffee und kuchen in German Mennonite colonies and watch the prolific bird life eating the prolific insect life. I should go back to check out the missions.
