Yellow fever?

Featured Replies

While looking 4 flights on avianca, from SP 2 bogota, this note popped up:

"For trips from brazil to colombia, you must carry the Yellow Fever certificate, which must be issued at least 10 days prior to travel."

Anyone knows anything about this? Is it enforced?

I'm sure I did; M not sure I can find the certificate.

I dont remember this requirement from previous occasions.....

When I had it, for Nigeria,  I was told it took 14 days to be effective.

It's been talked about on here before...if you go to Colombia then to Brasil, it's not needed, only if you're coming FROM a yellow fever country is it needed

Trust me (unfortunately speaking from experience, not with Avianca, but with another airline), you do not want to take your chances that the airline will not check/allow you to board without the Yellow Fever certificate.  As mentioned, there is a 10+ day waiting period for the vaccine to be effective and be able to travel; so it is not a situation that can easily be fixed if you do not have the necessary documentation at check-in.  (In my case, I had the certificate, just not on me, and I was able to travel the next day, but it was still a costly screw-up.)  If you do not want to deal with getting the vaccine, then, as floridarob indicated, you can switch the travel order around.
