The first two to respond to my inquiries (sent from my Brazilian WhatsApp, with maybe not a perfectly phrased inquiry, but pretty good and with “Blz?” Something google translate would never spit out) quoted 500 and 1000 reais, respectively. And while attractive (and tall) to be sure they were not the absolute crème de crème. Moreover, each resisted (perhaps too delicate) suggestions that they lower their prices, with the 1000 reais guy taking offense. The two examples above were particularly high, but I do find GP prices to be running far faster than inflation generally. Just since a trip in oct/nov Id have to say the average (for my type) in garotocomlocal has moved yet higher, from 350 to 400. In fact, especially considering the deteriorating exchange rate situation, 2025 may have involved similar GP inflation to the post-pandemic period, (when sauna prices jumped from 100 to 150 or more, a 50% rise )

By contrast my inflation benchmark is a chocolate cake I almost always buy at P.A.O. on Bela Cintra (highly recommended, along with the Fig and Walnut Bread) which did notch up from R$24 to 25 since november. But in general, the cake has risen from pre-pandemic at R$18 I recall, during which GP prices have approximately doubled (in my experience)

When average prices of the guys (or indeed of cakes) are quite low, I'm much more of the attitude of just throw a lot at the wall and see what sticks, which is kind of a fun attitude, and you discover some fun GPs you might not have guessed/ aren't entirely your type. With prices approaching 100USD, I'm probably not going to "try" 4 a day, as I have when they were below 50USD (2019?, 2024?) and be more discerning...
