Bangkok/Chiang Mai advice

I don't think Alice Springs would be my favourite City being rated number 1 as Australia's crime capital 😯🥷🥷

But .....it could be the exciting for us older Gay men,has cruising places around Ayers Rock/Uluru I'm sure 😃 and maybe plenty of local indigenous communities people

I worked out to Sydney to Alice Springs .....is the same time equivalent of going from Sydney to Bangkok hence why I wouldn't waste my time

Could we get back on topic please !!

We shouldn't be talking about the Outback Australian city of The Alice ,  🦘

Do you think Grindr has many sexy guys in that city , probably farmer rugged types ?

Big beefy strong guys

I wonder if the Aboriginal peoples are on Grindr 😃

Wasn't that famous Aussie transexuals movie made there ?

You are funny! You want to get back on to the toic of Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and yet your "on topic" post is all about Australia. 🤣

It’s hilarious seeing your personalities negotiate with each other like a tiny UN summit 😝

Really, Olddaddy, I have flown from Sydney to Bangkok. It takes 9 1/2 hours - roughly 6 hours longer than to Alice Springs.

It's a lot longer than 3 hours to Alice Springs from Sydney

Again that's funny in a sort of weird way. Do you have your own DC3 that requires refuelling? Because Qantas says the flight time is 3 hrs. 20 mins. Now that fits almost exactly with @Kiwi306's estimate of 3 hrs. 30 mins.

Australians have a habit of getting flight durations wrong, remember years ago pulling Jimmy Barnes of Cold Chisel up over the lyrics to Khe Sanh, their early 1980's Top-40 hit, where he wrote:-

Well, the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
And only seven flying hours, I'll be landing in Hong Kong

Today it takes 09:40 hours. Jimmy's reply was "it rhymes better"!

It is interesting the way he asks questions  to which he already knows the answers!

One wonders how many personalities he has! Endless number?

I thoroughly enjoy reading shamelessmack's travel blog.  I did read all of the posts about Chiang Mai as well as many others.  Unfortunately, he hasn't updated his site since May and I haven't seen any posts by him on this site recently, either.  Hope he is ok.

A fantastic man

He does seem to "disappear" for sometime then suddenly will re-emerge

One case I believe years later😳

Who do you use now?

Nowadays, I take the slower route and use the bus from Suvarnabhumi Airport via the train system

To be fair to Mike’s taxi, unsafe drivers are everywhere. Thais have their own ways of calculating and managing risk and safety.

That was my one and only bad experience with Mike’s taxi. What put me off them was no response to the feedback I sent. That motivated me to look elsewhere….

Yes that was the same for me

I did get told Mike's changed owners though early last year

You mean "the way he asks questions  to which some of his personalities already know the answers, but some others haven't?" ;)

Mike's has let me down twice in the last 8 months

Driver had no idea how to get to.pattaya

2nd one without even telling me decided to stop off at a food stall on the highway,I thought he was going for a pee but sat down and ate leaving me in the air conditioning car for about 15 minutes ☹️

My last three trips with Mike all had problems (different prices quoted for me and the driver so I ended up paying 200B more, wrong pick-up time recorded in the system so they had to find a new driver at the last minute, dirty car & disheveled driver who looked like he'd been living in his car, et.) and as someone already reported here, they didn't seem to bother with responding to my feedback. So after years of using them, I decided it's time to let go. Stick mostly with Nam taxi & the bus nowadays.

Oh the old my personal experience stands in for rational science argument.

That's the one. Inductive logic and all that.

"Rational science" (is there another kind?) is based on evidence, for example when a personally-experienced BMW ride  falsifies a "no BMWs on offer" hypothesis.
