I am thinking of spending the winter in hurghada and some nearby places in Egypt. I had some fun in Aswan Luxor and Cairo but Hurghada seems more like a family oriented destination. Any info on these red sea resort cities? Since it is Egypt and touristy I have a feeling that I can find some fun but who knows....

In Hurghada, it's fairly easy to find adventures with the locals. These are mostly middle-aged men, tops, working as taxi drivers or salespeople. Young guys meet much less often. It's best to stay in the city itself; the surrounding areas (Makadi or Sahl Hasheesh) will be more boring. The ideal area to stay, in my opinion, is Mamsha. Hurghada is also popular among gay tourists, and you can always find someone to spend time with.

I met some young guys at the El Dahar souk, but to be honest, I wasn't very attracted to them. Once, I went into a shop and there was an older man there; he called his son and left.
