MarcoPolo Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Thanks for all this great info about hotels guys. These forums are an awesome resource so thanks for taking the time to post your expereinces and advice. Last time I was in BKK was a while ago and stayed at Saladang Place. It was Ok and close to everything and easy on the grad school budget. I think it's a condo now bc it's not listed anywhere. Anyone use AirBnB condos instead of hotels while staying in BKK? I like my privacy and I'm thinking of going that route while there this summer. Quote

The thing about Airbnb you need to be careful of is the 30 day rule. Thailand has the Hotel Act which limits short term rentals of 30 days. Condo's, houses, villa's, etc that rent for short term are technically considered hotels under this law and must be licensed as such. The other problem you may come across is some buildings have their own rules that prohibit these types of rentals. That doesn't necessarily mean the actual owner abides by the building rules, but could present problems for you if discovered. There are a number of posts on here that talks about Airbnb. You might try doing a search to bring up past experiences other people have had using that service. mauRICE 1 Quote
