Members unicorn Posted Tuesday at 07:04 AM Members Posted Tuesday at 07:04 AM Jane Fonda apparently complained that it was Barbara Streisand rather than herself who eulogized the late Robert Redford. In poor taste? https://people.com/jane-fonda-says-barbra-streisand-didn-t-deserve-to-do-robert-redford-oscars-tribute-she-did-1-movie-i-did-4-11927207?campaign=17305911&did=22530450-20260316&hid=089247988732f9a900151e1f8c73f2c531df3c3a&lctg=089247988732f9a900151e1f8c73f2c531df3c3a&lr_input=3911d0b923e8d92c50f8b74007080afa59d66697825b8a1e414be8db883b8062&tag=latestcatalog_ppl_comments "Jane Fonda is wishing she could have paid tribute to her dear, departed friend Robert Redford. At the 98th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Barbra Streisand took the stage as part of the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment to honor Redford, who died on Sept. 16, 2025 at age 89. “I want to know how come Streisand was up there doing that for Redford?” Fonda, 88, quipped to Entertainment Tonight at an Oscar night party. She playfully added that Streisand, 83, “only made one movie with him, I made four! I have more to say.”...". Quote
vinapu Posted Tuesday at 03:00 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:00 PM at 88, I'd forgive her, senility and all. She has chance of talking to Redford in not so distant future, while that youngster Streisand need to wait and wait PeterRS and unicorn 1 1 Quote
Mavica Posted Wednesday at 12:48 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:48 AM Not in bad taste, IMO. What's missing in that People Magazine article is context, the manner and the tone in which Fonda made the remark. I sense it was somewhat in jest ... but I think she would probably have been the most appropriate to have that role in the show. However, Streisand doesn't seem to make many appearances, and her participation was probably used as the lure to get her to participate. Though 5 years older than Streisand, Fonda seems more with it than Barbara (I'm a fan). PeterRS, unicorn, floridarob and 1 other 4 Quote
PeterRS Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM I fail to understand why anyone should think that whoever honours the life and work of a great actor would be in bad taste. The focus should be on the deceased and definitely not on the living. Lucky and Pete1111 2 Quote

Mavica Posted yesterday at 05:02 PM Posted yesterday at 05:02 PM The People Magazine article reported Fonda was joking and that her comment about Streisand were playful. Quote
Members Pete1111 Posted 14 hours ago Members Posted 14 hours ago I listened to what she said. I didn't take it so much as a complaint. Her comments were light hearted but also loving. Mostly, I enjoyed hearing her thoughts on Redford. I recommend Barefoot in the Park. Love that one. mauRICE 1 Quote
