Popular Post Londoner Posted July 7 Popular Post Posted July 7 Strange as it may seem in these "quiet" days , the popularity of the gay hotels was such that it was hard to find a room a Ambiance or Le Cafe Royale. Serene was a cheaper gay-friendly option and was blessedly quiet owing to to its being set back from the soi. Penthouse attracted some gay guests but appeared to me to be aggressively straight and was surrounded by noisy lady-bars. The gay hotels served as useful meeting-places for newbies such as I and, together with Cocobanana (later named Panorama), enabled gay visitors to discuss venues and share experiences with more seasoned travelers. My partner and I remained loyal to Ambiance until five or so years ago when Boyztown's late night show bars , as did Macbeth, " murdered sleep." We still miss it but increasing age demands more sleep than was allowed in Boyztown....and that refers to both of us! Mavica, Olddaddy, Ruthrieston and 2 others 5 Quote
vinapu Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Copa, Ambiance and Serene are still operating in Boyztown soi. No personal experience with Serene. I never like Ambiance owing to it's maze of corridors which I consider outright dangerous. I used to alternate between Copa and Classroom hotel above A_Bomb bar next soi and like both as rooms are spacious and well appointed and entry to Classrom is very discreet by side door by-passing bar and reception but recently I like Zing better as mentioned in another thread. That would be easy during the slower season, however, during high season, many songtaews are packed full, with no room. You might watch more than a dozen trucks pass by before there is one with open space. About twenty years ago, I stayed at Mr Mac's Hotel, and songtaew travel was a daily issue. I know that now we have Bolt and Grab, but that seems too much trouble for every time you step out of the hotel. floridarob 1 Quote

Yes , I always use songtaew and no, I don't recall any problem getting to and from Zing hotel in either direction. Surely from time to time odd songtaew is coming full and won't stop but I don't recall waiting for more user friendly one more than few minutes , at least not during day time which is for me , broadly speaking 6 am to midnight. Past midnight few times I took motorsai for 40-60 baht and on few occasions simply walked from Jomtien Complex there but that was not because lack of transportation but I felt like walking. My last time there was beginning of February . not exactly low season. Never used Bolt or Grab in Pattaya, did in Bangkok though. daydreamer 1 Quote

t0oL1 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Copa is super. Tried it and loved the superior room, although I also like smaller rooms(less impressive to "visitors"). Shout out to the manager-(?) Glen Campbell. Was at Serene beer bar and noticed the cool "tunnel" to the hotel. Their reception area is awesome. The banner there still read 30 days -14,000 baht? Just thinking about the history in the rooms there... Ruthrieston and Olddaddy 1 1 Quote

Never stayed at the Cops since July 2018 I ended up having a argument with whoever was in charge who acused me of spilling coffee on their sheets despite staying a week in the room and of course charged me an extra 1500 baht to clean the sheets Stayed in the Penthouse room Never stayed there again and they can get f.....d !!! 🖕 Of course the manager had to relay his messages to me via the Thai receptionist who said the owner said you booked through a third party website your not our customer !! And he was right. .never been your customer since and never will be again ! Quote

It depends on what one is accustomed to; if one's been living in dumps, then a jaunt at one of these Pattaya gay hotels could feel like having a suite in Mayfair. Olddaddy 1 Quote

For example, I was in Pattaya last month and I thought the number of people around was just nice but many Pattaya regulars and veterans seem to think it was too quiet and the lowest of low seasons. I, on the other hand, don't go very often and took in everything as a treat. When asked about customer traffic, the boys I spoke to in Supertown and Boyztown said พอมีอยู่ or adequate, except when there was heavy rain. vinapu, Mavica and Olddaddy 3 Quote
