Agate vs the rest

Checked the rates for last week of november:

Zing - 30

Venue - 40

Agate - 50

Poseidon - 80

East Suites - no availabilities!

I've always stayed at agate, despite the brkfst. Any reason to change? Do others have any tempting features?

Why is zing's rate so low, and poseidon's so high? Why is east so popular (or is it so small)?

Another possibility to add to the above list are the rooms available in Dorothy's Residence - which is just upstairs from the Buenos Mexican restaurant.

I believe that all of the rooms face north towards the View Talay 5 condo complex so they should be quiet.

As of today, there were still rooms available starting from 635 THB per night.

I must highly commend whoever the owner of Dorothys was back in March 2025 for his honesty 

During that period I could not book a room at the Zing , Agate or Venue 

I believe there was something on on Pattaya during that weekend 

On looking on Agoda and Booking com etc I booked one room for 2 nights using both booking platforms, I later found ( during the night of the first two  nights) that I had booked 4 rooms for the first night , not one but am extra three

I wondered why I was thr only person on my hotel floor , I actually booked three other rooms too !

I contacted Agoda who were no help ,saying there is NO refund but would put it to the owner for consideration 

I kept contacting them before they actually called my phone to tell me to stop messaging and they would call the owner directly 

Now despite those other three  rooms now vacant because I booked them , come morning time and the owner had accepted that I be refunded for those 3  accidentally extra booked rooms !

For that I was ever grateful , I never did find out who the owner was .

But certainly a man with honesty and morals , thankyou again to whoever you were

My advice is not to use Booking.com or Agoda when booking  Agate. Email the hotel manager directly. Better prices and highly efficient.

Jomtien isn't the most scenic of places we stay in in Thailand but the Agate is a our favourite hotel and we stay there three times a year. Great staff (plenty of them gay) and quiet.

Four rooms by accident? Even Agoda knew better than to question it..... They knew each personality required separate accommodation.

The real miracle is not that the owner refunded three rooms. It is that all four of you agreed long enough to make the same booking....

Only four rooms,  What happened to the other 7 or 8 ,  Did they agree to double up or did you leave vacant room all over Pattaya?

East only has 8 rooms I think. They are big rooms and popular despite the lack of a lift.

Since we are talking end of November, I'd still check availability in a month or month and half. They may not release to the platform all they have.

Moral of the story: don't book hotels while under the influence.

Yes, but don't they make it compulsory for all guests to wear Friend of Dorothy t-shirts during their stay in Pattaya?

I mean for Olddaddy it's merely a confirmation but I'm not so sure other guests would share his enthusiasm.

Yup. That's what my friends who stayed there last February discovered too. It was cheaper booking through Agoda. Perhaps Londoner gets a special rate as a regular guest.  My friends were happy with the hotel though, thanks to Londoner's recommendation.

True 

And also in the past ( and NOT with this hotel ) but I booked through the hotel website only to turn up and be given a different room because the "balcony or the garden 🌿🏡" room is now not available 

Had I booked through a third party website I could of easily got a refund so sometimes better to book through a third party 

Don't do it with airfares ✈️though , better to book through the airline directly 

And one last word......if you don't like it .... LEAVE!🏃‍♂️
