I was diagnosed with bladder cancer which had spread to my lungs in January. I managed one short trip to bkk in April before the chemo/immuno started. The good news was that the ct scan in August showed my lung tumours had reduced by 50%. After about 57 trips to Thailand in 16 years I miss it. Seize the day.

In theory we are required to enter Thailand with at least the equivalent of 20,000 baht. I've never been asked to show it in some 55 visits but I always carry it in UK pounds and change it at X1 on Surawong.

I think it's best to be cautious. Asking to see money on the street is a red flag. If they were genuine you may have taught them this so you did them a favour.

Don't let the mamasans tell you what to do or how much to pay. But the occasional 100bt tip to a mamasan is remembered.

Not 'khun lòr mâak mâak' ? New to Thailand I was trying to say 'Dee mâak mâak' (very good) and ended up saying 'Dee marr' (good dog) until a hotel worker put me right.

East only has 8 rooms I think. They are big rooms and popular despite the lack of a lift.

I like Vietnamese men and I have known dozens of them since 2014 when I met 6 of them working at BBB Inn on Rama IV. But I don't want to do that much in bed which helps, as most of them are straight. I reckon a few are bisexual from their enthusiasm doing it. I find Thai rent men can be a bit primped and queeny for me while Vietnamese men are more 'lads next doorish' and I find them fun. Maybe it's the lure of the straight bloke. I haven't had a problem with thefts.
