On arrival at the QS yesterday they have a new policy that you must pay a security deposit of 2000 baht .....but....it's now in CASH only 

I always used card 💳not anymore CASH is king they said 

I must say the rates are excellent lately with QS as low as 1000-1300 a night

I stayed at QS a few times in June/July and was only asked to pay 1000 baht each time. I always paid cash.

Like you, I managed to get very good rates, often including bargain deals for breakfast.

I always liked quarter Silom however I never liked the smell. Whatever room spray they use sets off my allergies. I have to always ask them to not spray the room but now Raya is my new favorite.

Weren't those photos of a messy room in QS that were posted on this forum a while ago yours? Maybe that has something to do with a higher deposit they are asking YOU for? lol

It might be an expression from German-speaking countries. When something is so ugly (in this case, the color scheme) that it almost physically hurts your eyes, people often say, “It’s giving me eye cancer.” Color vs. Colour: I leave that to you guys. I have the US spell checker enabled because the US flooded the whole world with it at some point. so it's my default. Personally, I like to hear British English (depending where you are in UK).

My "?" mark was  indicator  of surprise that somebody  considers Raya's pastels as offending one's eyesight. But what do I know ?

I thought “barrister” was just the British spelling.

Color becomes colour.
Humor becomes humour.
Attorney becomes barrister.

But fine, to avoid any further confusion I’ll just use the Spanish equivalent everyone understands. Attorney, lawyer, solicitor, barrister... they all translate to the same word:

Of course, once Keith starts organizing the HOMEPA orgies in Asia, we’ll have to come up with another title for him... unless the British already have a special word for orgy coordinator too. 😝
