Mavica Posted Friday at 05:16 PM Posted Friday at 05:16 PM After 250 uninterrupted days at sea without a regular port call, the USS Abraham Lincoln, two other ships from its carrier strike group and 5,000 sailors and Marines, are expected to dock in eastern Thailand, likely at Sattahip in Chon Buri (Pattaya), from September 2 to September 6, 2026. The exact port and arrival details are not publicly confirmed due to operational security, but the stop is part of a planned rotation as the USS George Washington replaces the Abraham Lincoln in the Middle East. khaolakguy and Ruthrieston 2 Quote

I will even look out onto the horizon on the beach to see if I can see the humungous carrier coming into port as it is only like 20km from here. What is funny is I read somewhere that a Thai government official stated that the port where the carrier will dock = Laem Chabang is also available to be used by Chinese and other nations - as the government did not want to be seen as favoring the USA military. When I discussed this with my Thai friends - they did not get the same 🍆 excitement 🍆 of 5,000 Chinese military roaming the streets of Pattaya - When I asked them why - they said - you Americans are crazy and like to party like us Thais. That perplexed me - because I have witnessed with my own eyes that the Chinese also like to be crazy and party.... What did I miss? Olddaddy, vinapu, emiel1981 and 1 other 4 Quote
khaolakguy Posted Saturday at 09:33 AM Posted Saturday at 09:33 AM What used to happen in Pattaya, and it may again, is that when the US navy is coming for R&R, you find a sudden influx of retired bar girls travelling down from Isaan for one last tallyho, on the basis that if the guys have been at sea for months, in this case eight, and are also probably blind drunk, they ain't too fussy where they put it. They have also not had much recent opportunity to spend their salaries so may be generous. vinapu, jimmie50, Mavica and 1 other 2 2 Quote

You're American, aren't you, living right in the middle of the scene in Pattaya? The response could have been different had the question been posed by a Chinese person to a bunch of non-scene, professional Thai guys. Mavica 1 Quote

Before Grindr, you'd only see a few occasionally wander through looking "lost," mostly just gawking and laughing at the gay gogo bars. Times were different back then, but with the current leadership, who knows if it’s really any different now, the military has gone backwards in time 🙄 I doubt many will end up in Jomtien. You might see a few in Boyztown claiming they got turned around looking for Walking Street, which is where the majority of the impact will probably be. Let us know if your Grindr starts lighting up 😁 mauRICE 1 Quote

Seeing dugongs, they instead believed them to be beautiful alluring women. Sounds very promising for semi-retired Pattaya bar girls bkkmfj2648 and khaolakguy 1 1 Quote

The bottom is referred to as sea pussy, A common phrase used to rationalize this behavior is "It's not gay if you're underway" or "It's only gay if you make eye contact." 🤷♂️ And depending on who is telling the story, sailors will say the marines are the bottoms and vice versa..... They also joke that “The Navy invented sex, but the Marines introduced it to women." As far as money, that doesn't stay in their pocket, if they have a wife/family or girlfriend.... that money is being spent while they are away on the ship. a-447, khaolakguy, Mavica and 1 other 4 Quote
