From Pattaya Mail Pattaya has ordered 100,000 doses of a coronavirus vaccine made by a Chinese state-owned company, finally spending 8.8 million baht it set aside for Covid-19 jabs. Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome said June 16 that the city has booked doses of BBIBP-CorV developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group, which is commonly known as Sinopharm. Well I suppose most holiday travellers are in the same boat as I am. I haven’t returned to Pattaya (my happy place) for 18 months now. I have been watching some videos on YouTube and reading a few blogs and I have found it so sad to see how quiet and empty Pattaya is with so many closed business’s and empty hotels. Although I have not been to Phuket for some years, I used to go to the island almost annually. By far my favourite restaurant is Baan Rim Pa. It is nestled on top of a small cliff close to the north end of Patong. The setting is exceptional with great views over the sea to the sunsets. There are no windows as such and so it is open to the evening breeze. In at least a dozen visits I have never once had any dish I did not love. Baan Rim Pa should have been wiped out by the tsunami because the waves crashed over the waterfront road just 30 meters away and into the apartments across the road. On my last trip, I went to Route66 and loved it. I liked the atmosphere and the food. I had the breakfast but friends say the steaks and burgers are excellent. I think this is on what they call the dark side. But, driving a car, it is an easy to get to location. Worth a try when you are in Pattaya and have a yearning for some American food. Any expats or anyone else in Pattaya at the moment, please does anyone have an update on the Renovation work being carried out on the Mike Shopping Mall? In October 2017 the work began to transform the upper floors of the Mall into a Hotel. At same time the 10th Floor Swimming Pool was also closed for renovation. Because of the Covid-19 situation I haven't been able to travel to Pattaya (my happy place) for over a year now but I am still curious to know if all the work is now complete. Last night several of us attended the opening night of Adonis beer bar. It’s managed by the guys from Euro Boys beer bar in Sunee Plaza. They offed free hamburgers which were tasty as well as tasty French fries. Close to Big Kiss boy beer bar. Also opening in the last few days was JoJo boys bar beer. A generous farang was buying drinks and they offer Blue Hawaii cocktails among other exotic drinks. Close to Soda boy massage.

I ate there with a friend this week and enjoyed it. The service was good and the waiters were friendly. The food was good. I had the Orange Chicken and enjoyed it a great deal.They also have a full meat menu. Hungry Panda 312, 57-58 Soi Lengkee, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung The place is clean and friendly. It is not a hard drive but not an easy walk unless you are staying in the Soi Lengkee area.

A large bar beer with rugged host boys lined up on bar stools. All are musculine, in jeans and usually offering a show. The show takes place behind a screened area for an agreed upon sum. Most open big packages.

I like the chain but I'd have to give them a 2.5 out of 5. The cost was reasonable (3,000 per night for all but Saturday which was 8,000 baht) but they did not have a good buffet breakfast and they did not have good upgrades for their top-tier members. I was also not happy they allowed people near the buffet without gloves. Overall, I like the place but just was not happy on this stay. Some customers refusing to wear gloves and them letting them get away with that spoiled my stay. The beds are very comfortable and room service is good. The bars closed today as no liquor sales allowed. I don't know about Sunnee Plaza but heard nothing was open in Boystown. The bars in Bangkok were open as usual so I assume this was a local election closing.

Green Bar ( known as Green Chairs Bar) in Sunee Plaza is closing shortly, probably by Nov. 1. Lack of customers is the reason. In its heyday, Green Bar was a great place to sit and enjoy a drink and observe the people milling about on the soi.

Last night, November 10, 2019, Panorama held a grand opening. Food was provided by Poseidon restaurant in Jomtien Complex. The food was delicious and a farang chef was in attendance. It felt like the peak of high season as every table was full with a large crowd of farangs and Asians.. It was a smashing success! Live music and singing for hours.
