From The Thaiger Debate is intensifying over whether Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin should be ousted from office following his controversial decision to appoint Pichit Chuenban, a former convict, as a PM’s Office Minister in the latest Cabinet reshuffle. The following has been discussed in other posts by Isaan Lawyers. I now leave it to our in-house legal experts to pass judgement. From Pattaya News When a foreign national dies in Thailand without a will, the process of handling their estate can be complex. Here’s a detailed look at what happens presented by our sponsors and friends at Issan Lawyers. Application of Thai Law Thai inheritance law applies to the estate of any person who dies in Thailand, including foreign nationals. This means that if a foreigner dies intestate (without a will), their estate will be distributed according to Thai statutory inheritance laws. Distribution of the Estate …

From Bangkok Post A police spokesman has warned the public to be cautious about fake government websites and urged them to report them. Pol Maj Gen Siriwat Deepor, deputy spokesman, said on Sunday the Royal Thai Police had found that more fraudsters were creating web addresses with the “.go.th” domain extension typically used by government agencies to trick people into thinking they are authentic. The scammers would put the “.go.th” domain extension in the last part of a URL called the path to lure careless internet users. Pol Maj Gen Siriwat cited https://dif.link/www.ccid1.ccib.go.th as an example of a hoax government site that police had already taken do…

Couldn't even finish watching the newly released Matt Damon - Casey Affleck movie, The Instigators, it's that bad. But I have to say Casey Affleck at 48 is making me a lot hornier than he ever did at younger ages. Maybe it's the blue collar loser character that he plays rather than him... but I was getting that, Casey I want you so bad it hurts a little, feeling.

Having left Bangkok not that long ago, don't recall finding an acceptable meal at a reasonable price problematic. Most Thais patronize prepared food vendors. If the industry is experiencing a big drop in income, I'd first look at their pricing. Even McDonald's announced this week the return of the "value meal" due to reduced same-store sales. From Pattaya News On July 31st, 2024, Mr. Sorathep Rojpotjanaruch, the Chairman of the Thai Restaurant Business Association, revealed that the restaurant industry has faced a significant drop in spending, exceeding 50% recently. The association had appealed to the Thai Prime Minister to address the current econom…

That call was the last anyone heard from him. I view in real time or tape and watch both NBC and CBC coverage. They have taken to sometimes miniaturizing events on the screen during a plentiful array of commercials. I get that sponsors are essential and I don’t mind, though usually fast-forwarding from recordings. My app streaming choice came down to Peacock or CBC Gem. I already have the latter for a few bucks monthly, so the obvious choice. Live full events then archived for later attention. Organized by sport and day, no ads, total unbroken event coverage rather than jumping around, and capacity to forward the recording at 10-second intervals or using the time bar during slow parts, or slowing or freezing the…

@TotallyOz is something I expected you would've done 😉 In 2020, when Kamala Harris launched her bid for president, NY-based trademark lawyer Jeremy Green Eche bought the domain HarrisWalz.com for $8.99. The idea, the cyber squatter told the AP, was to “grab her name and all the heartland governors I could think of.” His purchase was vindicated yesterday, when Harris selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate. He said he’s willing to sell the website for $15,000, which is the same price he sold ClintonKaine.com for after purchasing it in 2011—five years before the 2016 election. And you wouldn’t believe what he got fo…

I was at a neighbor's birthday party last week-end. We were seated at the "neighbors' table" (as opposed to relatives' table), so we got to talk with a lot of our neighbors. We live in a neighborhood riddled with celebrities, and tour vans are constantly plying our streets. When we drive to downtown LA or to Burbank, and we take Mulholland Drive down the hill (as opposed to when we drive to WeHo, Hollywood, the west side, or the valley), and we pass on average 3 vans as we go down the hill. Our record so far is 8 vans (though that's an extreme). In my experience (having lived here almost 4 years), the drivers of these vans seem quite considerate, and always pu…

From TechCrunch A federal district court in New York has ruled that U.S. border agents must obtain a warrant before searching the electronic devices of Americans and international travelers crossing the U.S. border. The ruling on July 24 is the latest court opinion to upend the U.S. government’s long-standing legal argument, which asserts that federal border agents should be allowed to access the devices of travelers at ports of entry, like airports, seaports and land borders, without a court-approved warrant. Civil liberties groups who advocated for the ruling praised the judgment. “The ruling makes clear that border agents need a warrant before they…
