Does the clock start at your at your first flight or the actual flight to Brazil. 2) I will be going from Sao Paulo to Rio. I will be visiting Brazil end of March for roughly three weeks and am wondering whether I should add a third stop in my itinerary. I plan to start and end my trip in Rio and have booked a hotel in Ipanema for the first week. After that I want to visit São Paolo for a couple of days but am thinking of adding a stop in either Salvador, Recife or Iguacu Falls before returning to Rio. Is that too ambitious for a newbie with not a lot of Portuguese skills? Should I just alternate weeks between Rio and SP? What would you do?

Before Covid, I visited two fitness camps in Thailand -- one on Koh Samui for a month (KohFit, highly recommended) and one on Phuket for two weeks. It was fantastic. I ate healthy food, worked out multiple times a day, met a great group of friends, and then got to have fun on nights and weekends. I'd love to have the same experience somewhere else. We once had a great trip on Eva Airlines to Asia in Business Class using Lifemiles. Never again could I find a Business Class trip that didn't require an outrageous amount of Lifemiles. Until today. R/T to Rio from LAX on Avianca for 135000 miles each. That works for me...except for a new twist. The trip takes 27 hours and stops in San Jose CR and Bogota with long layovers. If they made it easy to do stopovers I might consider that as I would avoid the layovers. But it's always been hard to do a stopover on a free Lifemiles trip, at least in my experience. Any advice?
