I have always thought Chris Rock was funny and the older he gets, he still has the funny part down. I watched this as I wanted to see his take on his divorce. It was a really good show with some really deep moments.

In a deal worth 300 million, Ryan Murphy heads to NetFlix. Congrats to Ryan on this great gig. He is openly gay and deserves every penny! https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/13/business/media/netflix-ryan-murphy.html

Just finished watching this Netflix original last night. Maybe my taste is odd, but the show was superb, with a great cast of mainly newcomers, two of whom will be in Love, Simon.

This movie was a thrill to watch. As a former newspaper carrier, I loved getting those bundles of papers which made my hands so inky yet smelled so good. Watching them come off the presses here after the brilliant battle at the Post over printing the Pentagon Papers was a joy. The acting is fantastic. You Better Call Saul! Bob Odenkirk has a big role and he delivers! So do the others, especially Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. I wondered who the cute actor was playing Katherine Graham's son, and found out later it is Stark Sands, of Kinky Boots fame. (I've seen his bare butt, live!)* The movie is especially good at a time when the press is not honored, when the Supreme C…

Saw the touring show last night in Salt Lake City and I was blown away!! What a fantastic play. I suspect it was on Broadway the same time as Hamilton and was in the shadows. But, it is one of the best plays that I've seen. The music is great and I loved the numerous references to musicals that I've seen through the years. Many of the actors in the touring show were on Broadway. I couldn't believe I was seeing this show in Salt Lake City and not on Broadway. You really don't want to miss this play if it comes to your town. I'm already searching to see if it comes to San Diego so I can see it again. And, lot of great eye candy in the cast

Previews begin on January 23d for Jerry Springer: The Opera, one of the best hows I have ever seen. I saw it in London at the National Theater, where it was produced with a full orchestra and choir. It's a comical look at the Springer TV show that ends with Jesus and Satan going at it on the show. Irreverent and very funny, conservative Christians, and only a small segment at that, were able to keep it from Broadway stages. Today's NY Times has an article about the show coming to the Signature Theater, which means a smaller production, but it should still have all of the comedic content: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/17/theater/jerry-springer-the-opera-new-group-jo…

As we prepare to celebrate the incarnated Lord's birth, let us not forget his ending. On Masterpiece Theater tonight, I think the one time only. It played London's West End, and subsequently on Broadway. For someone living in neither city these TV Productions can be a good deal. I recall Tim Pigott-Smith from Jewel in the Crown 33 years back.

If anyone is following the revamp of Will and Grace, you will know they resurrected the main cast and most of the supporting players. We've already seen Harry Connick Jr, and Leslie Jordan... But the iconic maid and nemesis to boozy Karen has never appeared, although they did make reference to her in the background.... This week we said Goodbye to feisty Rosario, she died of a sudden heart attack, and the episode forces Karen to deal with her own feelings and grieve in her own way. R.I.P Rosario. - we hardly knew ya....THIS time !

Looking forward to seeing this show tomorrow in San Diego. Have been listening this on NPR since the '80's. Wish I had the opportunity to see it before Garrison Keillor retired.

This Netflix documentary is a wonderful thing to watch. It takes a few years in the making to show the school founded by Dr. George in India to show the school he created to give the "untouchables" a chance at a real education. I started watching it and could not stop. It was so beautifully made and the stories from these children were very touching. I sent them my first donation today. I'll keep sending them money as long as I can. What a beautiful thing they have created for this kids!

Did anyone catch this new series first episode? It is by the author of True Blood. It also has the hottie from Sex in the City (blond boy) as a gay angel.

  19. Finally! Return of a viewpoint explored by Louis Malle long ago in 'Pretty Baby', but precious few times since. Sex and the city: “Harlots” provides an engaging view of the sex trade in 18th-century London Hulu's tempting new drama views Georgian-era prostitution through the female gaze, and the result is fascinating http://www.salon.com/2017/03/29/sex-and-the-city-harlots-provides-an-engaging-view-of-the-sex-trade-in-18th-century-london/

Whoever devised the promotion for this movie is a genius, cause I just saw it, and I JUST DONT GET IT ! I was bored 3/4 of the movie, which they could have easily summed up in 10 minutes (which they did) and called it a day. Both lead performances for me were just OK, I dont find Emma Stone attractive at all and the musical numbers were much more exciting inm the Trailers for the film. The big build up and all the awards is definitely driving the box office, because I dont think they would get it if they relied soley on word of mouth.... Neither should win the Oscar... There are much more WORTHY performances.

Finally got to the new Peace Pavilion at Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. 4 floors. Could not get beyond the ground level (modern art) due to extended swooning over a surprisingly extensive impressionist masters collection. One of the rooms has projected on the upper walls and ceiling an evening motif of swaying trees in the moonlight, as if one is situated in the garden of a French salon. Free entry until Jan 15th. Will be back. Not to be missed.

New film set in Recife, not to be missed. Not gay-oriented but the main character played by Sonia Braga has a gay son among her offspring, and at one point she hires a garoto de programa for a hot encounter! The film has garnered several nominations and won many awards. Would be up for foreign film Oscar but the director and some cast got embroiled in anti-impeachment political stance.

Saw this play in SLC on Saturday in their newly-constructed theater. Boy what a wonderful theater. Took my 12-year old great nephew with me and this was his first live stage production. He loved it and so did I. Wonderful performance with a great cast. Was very surprised that one of the female leads was Lorna Luft (Judy Garland's daughter). Was also impressed with Conrad John Schuck who played the part of the retired General. I actually saw him as Daddy Warbucks in Annie on Broadway. For a guy that is 76 years old, he still has a great voice and a good stage presence. Lots of fantastic tap dancing and the production numbers were wonderful. The cast was full of e…

The title refers to a Fred Astaire quote on the Nicholas Brothers performance of Stormy Weather, filmed lived around 1943. The Nicholas Brothers are new to me, so when I saw that quote I had to see if it was on YouTube, and sure enough, it is. I am the last person to proclaim a "greatest dance" about any dance, so watch it for yourself and see it it pleases you as it did me, and countless others: More on the Nicholas brothers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Brothers
