Previously I had thought that God made male ballet dancers gay so that there wouldn't be conflicts with their straight female counterparts. Take Chase Finlay, for example. Handsome, talented, and gay, right? But, no. Chase resigned from the ballet after it was revealed that he took pics of his girl friend nude and then treated them like baseball cards. Chase had a lot to offer the girls. But then, he had a lot to offer everybody. If he had stuck with guys, he's probably still be in the ballet. (This post in no way infers that Lucky was anywhere near here!)

I bought, hardcover, David Sedaris' latest short-story collection for an upcoming flight. Well, I made the mistake of reading the first one yesterday, then another, then 'just one more'. So now I have finished it, LOL. Could not delay instant gratification. I think it is his best work ever. Resonates acutely with late middle age. I then downloaded 3 long iBooks novels for the trip instead.

I am so excited to see this. It doesn't come to Thailand until August but I am anxiously waiting. Please don't spoil it and tell me if there is any music in it, good times, fun laughs, etc. I want to be surprised!

Great video if you take the time to watch it. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/corey-camperchioli-femme-gay-community_us_5b6851aae4b0b15abaa54829

I had little interest in Sex and the City, but I see that a guy is making an act out of impersonating Carrie Bradshaw. He's Carrie Dragshaw. Perhaps he's a RockHard buddy? (Rock likes drag, I hear.) http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-et-carrie-dragshaw-instagram-20180803-story.html

The NY Times today reports on the new Blu-Ray DVD of the film Buddies, first shown at the Castro Theater in San Francisco in 1985. Its director, Arthur J. Bressan, Jr., made the film without knowing that he had the AIDS virus. He died in July, 1987. The film has two actors, Geoff Edholm, 32 at the time, played a gay man dying of AIDS. David Schacter played a 25-year old volunteer who became a buddy to Edholm's character. Edholm died of AIDS in 1989. Although I lived in San Francisco throughout the horrific days of the AIDS crisis, I did not see the movie. It never came out on video, and, as the times article points out, few wanted to go from caring for people wi…

James Gunn got a letter of support from the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy today. They have asked that he be reinstated. He had made some inappropriate remarks years back and apologized for them. Are we digging too far back into past tweets and other things looking to fire everyone? Does today's actions and words count at all now? Just curious. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/30/entertainment/guardians-of-the-galaxy-cast-statement-james-gunn/index.html

I binge watched Godless as it has so many nominations. I normally don't like westerns but this was excellent. Great acting and a great story. Season 1 is worth a watch!

I love J's ass. It is the perfect ass for just wanting to crawl inside and live forever. On this week's episode, the shower scene gave me a few wet dreams of my own. His name is Finn Cole. I didn't find the ass photos. But, here he is.

The novel Less, by handsome Andrew Sean Greer, is a humorous tale of a writer who travels the world in order to avoid having to go to his ex-boyfriend's wedding. I finished it last week and enjoyed it all the way. Author Greer is the subject of a profile in today's Washington Post, where he lists the novels that he liked most when coming out: https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/books/andrew-sean-greer-5-books-that-were-important-to-me-when-i-was-coming-out/2018/06/18/37db1df4-6d92-11e8-bd50-b80389a4e569_story.html?utm_term=.13885c19d46e The Author

I watched this tonight on PBS'S Masterpiece Theater telling the story of gay love in the 1940's which then jumps to a view of gay love today. I was somewhat interested in the first hour but then the 2nd hour jumping to a 3rd generation with Vanessa Redgrave playing the matriarch the is the thread through all 3 generations. It replays tomorrow. I recommend it. http://www.bostonherald.com/entertainment/television/2018/06/pbs_man_in_an_orange_shirt_tells_of_forbidden_love_over_generations

I stepped into a new gay Argentine movie to be released in October. It looks very promising: https://ilikepinga.com/2018/06/25/argentine-movie/

Robbie is transformed to play Elizabeth I, substituting for kneecap shattering that era's answer to status threat, in Mary Stuart, with Saoirse Ronan in the lead.

Does anyone catch live or replayed theatre, opera, or dance at their local cinemas since this trend started taking off? Usually London, Paris, NY Met, Bolshoi Ballet sourced, etc. Today I took in RB's new production of Swan Lake with their prima, Argentinian Marianela Núñez doing Odette/Odile, and a brilliant young Russian the Prince. Here we call these economical filmhouse shows cinespectacles. I am fortunate to have two annual series, two local theatre conglomerates, within walking. Well, I was mesmerized. Three hours of sheer heaven. I tend to pass over the classics in favour of mixed repertoire, but I was blown away. And never before had I experienced…
