She was the author of the very popular novel, The Front Runner, about a gay Olympic candidate. It was really f=good- I read it twice. Talk was it would become a movie, but that never happened. According to SF's Bay Area Reporter, Ms. Warren died last month at the age of 82 following a multitude of health problems.

With his win at the Golden Globes, Rami Malek increased his chances of winning Best Actor at the Oscars. The handsome actor has won many fans. And now, someone has leaked an undated photo of Rami, apparently from high school: He's changed, that's for sure, but I think he will win:

Ok. I admit I loved the movie. I love those kinds of things. So, I was excited to see how this new TV adaptation started. I was not disappointed. This was a good setup for the season. The show was fun to watch and left me wanting more. Not a lot of action yet, but hints of it to come.

Some guys tell little lies and some guys tell big lies. Some guys lie so much you don't know if they ever tell the truth. The author A.J. Finn, of last year's big success The Woman in the Window, appears to be in a category all to himself. His life is such a lie that you couldn't believe a thing he says, at least that's the implication of a New Yorker article this week. He spun lengthy tales of his mother's death to cancer, his father's, his brother's suicide, despite the fact that all three are still alive. He himself claimed a brain tumor and a spinal tumor, neither of which he really had, but he milked the stories at length. Is it no surprise that he can spin a tale i…

The police first have him making buys then gives him crack to deal. He's suspected of being the informant and is shot and the first round of criminals are rolled up and arrested. The new show spinoff called Good Trouble aired this week. I liked it. It is not as good at The Fosters but I had years to get to know those characters. I'll see where this one goes. Anyone else give it a try?

Love, Simon is a charming movie where a straight actor pretends to be gay in high school. He struggles with coming out, and when it does happen, it is nothing like he expected. This is a feel good movie about a gay leading character by a major studio. The gay character does not die in the end. I liked the movie, but cute Nick Robinson does not have a gay vibe about him. I suppose that if they made the same movie starring a dorky gay guy it wouldn't sell, so I should be thankful that Nick took the role. The audience over the weekend was 58% female, according to Variety. Response to Love, Simon has been quite positive.

I am gathering that there are not many book readers here, BigK being a big exception. But I just finished a great novel called A Ladder to the Sky, by John Boyne. It's about an aspiring young writer who takes advantage of his extreme beauty to endear himself to older authors. He then takes what they have to teach him and then dumps them. Gore Vidal did not so succumb, in an interesting chapter. As he becomes famous, with little talent, he needs to keep finding sources for his writings, but eventually, his looks fade and he drinks a lot. And then he meets young Theo. It's a fascinating novel, ranked 4.5 stars at Amazon, and 5 stars by me.

I love this show. It is blood and gore but fun stories and great action. AMC has done a great job on the first 2 seasons and I have enjoyed watching Aramis grow up on the show. A bit disturbed to see him on heroin this season but he is sad and lonely.

Curious if any of you gents caught this episode of the series? I was new to this series, and as someone who normally eats up these types of shows, I cannot recommend it enough. Two big thumbs up! A definite, if sad, cautionary tale for those of us engaged in this hobby. Hoping this link to the trailer works : https://www.cnbc.com/deadly-rich/

You may not have Showtime, but they are making the pilot (first) episode available for free. If the boss isn’t looking, you can sit at your desk and watch the entire first episode of Showtime’s upcoming drama series Ray Donovan right here. Liev Schreiber stars as a guy who makes the problems of L.A.’s elite disappear, while Jon Voight plays his devious recently paroled father (Voight introduces the video below and says Showtime’s “Brace Yourself” slogan with just slightly more enthusiasm than if he was at gunpoint). Also: This online version is edited for content, so expect blurred boobies. Ray Donovan premieres after the final season debut of Dexter on June 30: http:/…

Christian Bale stars very credibly as former Vice President and war criminal Dick Cheney in VICE. I thought I knew all of the evils of the Bush W. administration, but there are new revelations in the movie. The Cheney White House was full of scoundrels, none of whom have ever been punished for waging war on Irag and innocent mid-Easterners. Hundreds of thousands of people in Irag were killed, not to mention thousands of US soldiers, because Cheney had alloted the Iraq oil interests to Halliburton and the major oil companies and they had to find a way to take control of them. The damage done in the name of the United States is just shattering. Now we have Trump. Let's hope…

No, it's not a promise that Oz made to me, nor does it refer to the Brazilian garoto's penis when he first showed it to me. It's a novel, a gay related novel, set in Spain and authored by a woman. It's amazing. I know that referrals here get few responses, but I really liked this one. A gay couple in Madrid is separated by the lies one of them tells the other. The liar is soon dead, and we follow the widower into the world of aristocracy, religion, and cruelty. And just for Boytoy members to appreciate, there is a male hustler prominently featured. All This I Will Give To You by Dolores Redondo. $15.99 at Amazon. (I know the price because I spilled chocolate on my li…

Italian production based on Elena Ferrante's remarkable quadrilogy. I devoured it (and an earlier novel) recently. The fiction series spans a half century. The young Italian leads playing latency-age Raffaella "Lila" and Elena "Lenu" are spellbinding. I would love to have been at the casting call. All the actors of all ages are excellent. The violence early '50s Naples is disturbing yet believable. Best TV this year.

I was leery about seeing the new A Star is Born. But, I have to say that the movie was fantastic and I loved every part. The acting was excellent and Laday Gaga was incredible in the role. I love seeing Andrew Dice Clay as the father and all the other fun characters. The opening in the drag bar was fabulous and brought back so many fun memories. All in all, this was my favorite move of 2018. If you have not seen it, give it a chance!

It's been 50 years since Matt Crowley's creation The Boys in The Band took to the stage. I saw the play and the movie, although much later. I was excited that the 50th Anniversary production would include the top gay actors of our time. I bought my ticket well in advance. But soon after performances began, I started hearing that the revival wasn't all that much, that the actors were miscast, that the play represented a bad time in gay history, that it had been defiled by combining the acts into one, and how could men be expected to sit for 110 minutes with no pee break? Last Saturday I received my answers. My seat was great, the show was wonderful, the…
