  1. Same here. 16 year olds now allowed to vote in Austria, but can't be bothered to get up on a sunday (elections always on sundays here in order not to disrupt work for majority of people) and cast their vote. After election they bitch about wrong people getting elected.
  2. completely forgot to ask... how is a moneyboy in low season supposed to come up with spare THB 5000 ?And he probably and justifiably fears not being permitted reentry after overstaying.
  3. My Thai BF hardly ever gets entry or exit stamps from Thailand any more. He can and does use automated gates at Suvarnabhumi where he scans his passport and the gate opens. So there are non-corresponding stamps from DMK or other places, where they don't have the automatic gates yet. I believe there are 2 more exit than entry stamps at present and nobody seems to care so far. Not sure if that works for other ASEAN passports as well.
  4. My BF and I stayed in Golden Butterfly Villa, which is walking distance from night market, Chillax Lounge bar and old market. I believe US$ 30 - 35 for a double room with balcony and breakfast. Nice, clean, quite big rooms. Cute (straight) staff, no problem to receive visitors (my best mate had the room next door and took some of his grindr dates up without hassle). Only negative point might be the Primary School next door, which can get loud in the morning when kids arrive for school.
  5. Haven't stayed there since in 2014 they were apparenty overbooked and John relocated me to Kingfisher's next door without telling me in advance. Website works fine for me, but I think hasn't been updated for 2 or 3 years. You could try and contact them on Facebook.
  6. At least you'll have an election and whoever wins will become president. I'm not allowed to vote where I live due to alien status (german national living in Austria), Austria has been unsuccessfully trying to elect a new president (not actually leader of government but figurehead over here, head of government is the chancellor) since mid April. First round on 24 April there were 6 candidates, None of which got more than 35%. One would have needed more than 50% to win in the first round. Second round on 22 May only the best two candidates from first round stood for election, one candidate had about 30'000 more votes than the other and would have won... had not the loser (actually the party he came from) gone to supreme court to get the result overturned due to some counting irregularities. Somehow reminded me of something about counting and recounting and recounting again some 16 years ago... A third round was scheduled for 4 October, however to malfunctioning glue on the envelopes to be used for absentee voters this date was cancelled and now it looks like Austria will vote on 4 December. At present there is no president, as the old one was mandatorily retired on 8 July (it is always 8 July a new president is sworn in after the old one is retired, unless the president dies in office, as 5 out of 8 since 1945 did). If I were allowed to vote in the US I'd vote for Her, She is the lesser evil to Him. The candidate I would have wished for was Bernie.

    Asia Guys Blog

Not sure if a pinch of salt is enough when reading hotel or restaurant reviews.
  8. I didn't it was still open. That "for sale" sign has been hanging there so long, I thought they had closed long ago. That sign is even on Google earth picture dated oct 2012
  9. Doesn't look like Panda to me. Lucky asian genes. Makes you look much younger.
  10. Massage with happy end https://youtu.be/btheeIEDIrE Vinapu is one of the experts regarding massage here, have a look at his trip reports. Basically anything is possible, if the wishes are communicated when choosing the masseur.
  11. But I rather sow seeds in gay bars than finance "christian values". Man lie with man = abomination, Leviticus 18:20 or 20:13 anyone?
  12. Queen size bed for the single queen here too. King size not big enough for two when in LOS. Woes and joys of a long distance relationship.
  13. But then he is not only sleeping in the middle of the bed but also hugging the covers
  14. Wear a toga and chase boys? Ah, no, that was Greece. In Rome you lifted up you toga, screamed like a girl and then burned down the palace. Why don't we just put him on ignore?
  15. I did say my age and stats on the profile are correct, height/weight have not changed much (+ 2 kg) and I'm lucky in a way, that unlike my father my hair turns gray instead of falling out. If you look at my passport picture from 2005 and my passport picture from 2015, there is not much difference. Just a little more gray and different glasses.
  16. Will be a boring report. With my BF along I'll just be looking at temples, palaces, restaurants and beaches. No mongering allowed
  17. I'm a very bad passenger on a motorbike, my boyfriend tells me. And I don't feel comfortable on the back of a bike unless I know the driver well enough to trust them. Reason probably being that I passed my test for a motorbike license when I was 16 and have owned motorbikes on and off between 16 and 45, so I don't feel in control as a passenger on a bike.

    Any tips on Laos?

Most of the tshirts actually had tabels with "made in Thailand"
  19. I'm really looking forward to a trip report, as I'll be in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville last week of october with my Thai boyfriend.

    Any tips on Laos?

in Vientiane near the border to Thailand that might work, But in Luang Prabang prices were higher when my BF tried to pay in THB. Those guys accepting the foreign currency will have to change it in to Kip sometime later and will not give you the best rate. What we did was take out 500.000 Kip out of an ATM the first day, then saw how long that would last us (about 1 day for 2 persons, eating out, buying things at the market). Took out more the next time. Any left over Kip spend at duty free or exchange to baht when leaving. There are exchange booths in VTE airport. There are night markets in Vientiane Chao Anuvong Park / Quai Fa Ngum next to Mekong river and in Luang Prabang on Sisavangvong road by the Royal Palace, but you'll have to look hard to find products made in Lao.
  21. I'm guilty of that as well. I've been on Romeo so long, that my profile number only has 5 digits - now they are up 8 I believe. When I created the profile some 13 or 15 years ago I uploaded pictures that were 5 years old at the time - not because I wanted to cheat, the stats on my profile are correct age/size-wize, but because I didn't have many more digital pictures at the time. I think one of those now almost 20 year old pictures is still up in one of the folders. I don't think I've uploaded any new pictures for a couple of years and the newest, main profile pic, is from 2011 or 12. But then at 50 your face doesn't change much any more.
  22. The correct action would be to wake him up, that's what he is there for, but I'd probably think he needs the sleep and leave him be. You never know, how easy it might be to get a doctored or completely genuine false ID. I'd imagine as easy as getting a fully legit drivers license in say Bulgaria, if you know where to ask or who to pay. (Last I heard was 350 euro for one of those in a small town near Plovdiv - about the monthly salary of a higher town official, and I'd assume Khao San Road area for a doctored Thai ID)

You might get a shock seeing prices at food stalls or shops. US$ 1 = 8,000 LAK or 1,000,000 Kip = US$ 125 Shop around for changing money, exchange rates vary, VTE has better rates than LPQ, for example, or use one of the many ATMs around. ATMs will spit out 100,000 or 50,000 notes. Use one or two of those in a supermarket to get smaller notes. If you buy a coke or snack for 7 or 8,000, small vendors will not have enough change for the 50,000 or sometimes even 20,000 note. And, I almost forgot, get rid of your Kip before leaving the country. You won't be able to change them anywhere outside Lao. Well, you might be able to sell them on ebay as collectors item
