  1. if it was me i wouldn’t take my first trip to Rio during Carnival! but to each their own!
  2. i think you will find differences of opinions if you go to the saunas! everyone has different types and given a particular night you might find what you are looking for at anyone of them, don’t rely on others opinions! here are two Headless photos of the type of guys i have found at Pointe202. but you can also find similiar at 117 or the private gay clubs!
  3. OlI will be in São Paulo the weekend of Feb. 07 -10th and while i never was a fan of the old Fragata i am going to go and check out the new one and see if it’s a improvement!(shouldn’t take much)
  4. i met Junior in 2002 when he opened Estacau Sauna across from the Siquiero Campos Metro station. Then within a year he opened Pointe202 and closed up Estacau. Before he bought Pointe202 it was a straight sauna.
  5. Junior is a extrovert and is definitely in the right business! The video below he put on instagram today! I think Junior is around 46/47 years old and looks really good(not my type but i can appreciate the amount of work that goes into keeping yourself in shape as the years pile up! IMG_2418.MP4
  6. I agree with Mvan, Latbear4blk, Paulerio, et al. the information they provided is very accurate and up to date! i am going back in a week starting my 19th year of visiting Brazil and truthfully not a lot has changed imho eclxceot the number of saunas operating! Although this trip the guys seem more desperate to make money ! i am getting a lot of messages from guys that left the sauna life from 1 to 3 to 5 even 12 years ago looking to meet up when i am there! My last trip two guys approached me who i had been with numerous times 12 years ago, they were now both still in good shape but with grey hair coming through and 34 -36 years old and looking for work! I bought them a drink but went with a sexy 23 year old! The economy is still very bad for the general population!
  7. the saunas in Rio open at 3:00pm! ...by 9:00 pm 1/2 the customers have already left except those there for the the shows.unless there was something unusual going on that day!
  8. I have always considered a overnight to start at dinner around 10:00-10:30(after i get back from the saunas)until we get up usually after 10:00 am. sometimes noon. this has worked well for me the past 19 years with no complaints from the guys.
  9. 117 is not walkable from where you are unless you are into long hikes! but it’s not a risky area you go through Botofuco and Flamingo and 117 is in Gloria all relatively safe areas!
  10. The Marriott has always had very tight security regarding anyone not registered at the hotel and it is Not at the junction of Copa and ipanema but about dead center in the sweeping curve of Copacabana! it is a easy walk up Sequiero Campos which is one block from the marriott and then walk about 9 blocks in from the beach and you are at Pointe! 117 is 6 stops on the metro from the Sequiro metro station. ( 3 blocks from Pointe202, you will pass it on the way to Pointe) you can Uber to 117 but it is faster on the metro if you are going there during rush hour. i have never waited longer then about 3 minutes for a Uber in Ipanema or copacabana i personally have never had a problem with phone/wallet/cash in the saunas, in 19 years of going there 4 or 5 times a year!
  11. Hate to disagree with you but the lack of customers was not the reason Meo Mundo became a shell of its former self! The two owners Jorge and Acir were very successful from 2006 to 2018, then the same thing happened to them that has happened to the others...they didn’t own the building and worse yet their space they occupied was owned by 3 separate landlords! and the one who owned the space from the entryway to the lockers and the bar showroom wanted a 4 X rent increase! that was the reason for its demise! not lack of clients! They were pulling in between $15,000.R to $20,000.R a month in profit and foolishly IMHO did not save for the inevitable! i make no assumptions on what. body type or age is preferred by the clients which is why you see a variety of types at all saunas but with a predominance of a certain types at each sauna!(for the record i have been dating a 37 yr old muscle guy for the past 3 years)but have gone with every type of guy over the years
  12. I was told by a lawyer that he can put a upper age limit for guys working there but cannot stop them from going there it’s just they would have to pay the entrance fee we pay! I agree that everyone has different tastes in guys and my Namorado who is joining me in Mexico for the next two weeks turns 37 this Friday and is one of the sexiest guys I have ever been with!!(we have been going out for 3 years). As someone who has done a fair number of guys in their 20’s and 30’s there is a sexiness at least for me in the “older” guys! one guy i met up with this year is 35, i originally met him when he was 19 at 117. and i think he is more fun now then he was back then!
  13. no not at all they are used to that! i just found out today another Brazilian is coming to mérida that week besides the one that was already coming!
  14. Just what you think usually happens! sometimes i am even surprised! :-)
  15. thanks but there are a number of guys who are well versed with as much or more experience then me on here! i am back the end of Jan. to feb 10th in Rio and SP. i am in Merida Mexico from the 3rd of Dec. until the 17th If you are around let me know and we can meet up!
  16. I did work for a wall street firm 2 years right out of college before getting into the medical field. but that was a longggg time ago!
  17. Paulerio, i don’t think your numbers are conservative! Remember full admission is not charged on the “busy nights” with the boys at 1/2 price! and rooms gratis! i won’t dispute your overall numbers as you may be better informed then me on this as my numbers came from 2 sauna owners who may have been exaggerating whereas your numbers may come from better sources! but...if it was as lucrative as you suggest we wouldn’t have 2 saunas fighting for existence in São Paulo a metro area of over 23 million people and looking like 2 surviving saunas in Rio! i hope i am wrong! Supposedly Monique has unofficially asked about selling 117 but said she wanted $ 3million so i don’t think she was serious!
  18. Gotti i have been told numerous times by the various sauna owners that foreigners make up less then 2% of their revenues, they depend on locals to operate profitably! Which is why our/my suggestions over the years have fallen on deaf ears! lol They have said what is important to us or what we are used to in venues in the states is totally different then what locals in Brazil expect! and i can honestly say none of my suggestions were ever taken seriously! ...lol they probably wouldn’t have made a difference anyway, but i tried!
  19. i have been going to Brazil 4 times a year(sometimes 5)since 2001. The first 10 or 11 years i spent my time in Rio and Porto Alegre and would just go to SP(Lagoa)on my last day there to fly back to the states. SP was just too big, like 10 NYC’s put together! So i avoided it as i was having a lot of fun in Rio and Porto Alegre and they were both easier cities to get around in then SP. about 6 or 7 years ago i started going to SP for my last weekend of my trips from Friday to Sunday night or Monday night! i have gotten to like SP more and more and my last 4 trips i stayed each visit 4 days there. I have really been having fun there and will probably spend closer to 1/2 my time there in the future! btw i will have a report on Bar Fama in SP soon just haven’t gotten around to it yet, but if you like sleazier surroundings and $40.R sex you will enjoy yourself!
  20. To put some perspective into starting up and running a sauna, i had figures from another sauna’s monthly costs. I adjusted the numbers to closer reflect what i think Lagoa’s are, but i tried to be conservative so the actual costs to operate Lagoa maybe 10-15% higher then the numbers i give but are a good approximation! All costs shown are in Reias per Month! Rent. $16,000. lights/elect. 4,000. Salaries. 7,500. Insurance. 2,500. Police(payoff). 500. Gas/phone. 300. Kitchen sup. 1,000. Shows. 3,200. liquor/bar. 4,500 $46,700. total a month if you take a entrance fee of $60.r you need 778 customers Per Month to break even and before you start earning your first dollar of profit! PS: i think Rudolfo’s cost maybe higher because i know that part of the $700,000.R+ it cost to remodel was in a loan from the bank and we all know how high interest is in Brazil! Also they had a difficult time securing a loan because of the “type” of business they were going to be operating! they went to over a 1/2 dozen lenders before they found one that was willing to give them a loan! Anyway just some food for thought!
  21. IMG_0893.MP4 i received this today from a good friend. i believe it was taken last week before the Grand Opening!
  22. Really it not worth your time going unless you are really bored!
  23. Tonight was Lagoa’s Opening night at the new location! I was told by 3 different people that it went very well although it still has work to be done it’s 95% completed! In attendance were Junior from Pointe, Jorge from Meo Mundo and Acir formally from Lions/Manhatten/Meo Mundo. They all said they thought it was done well. Considering that you can’t really compare it to the old lagoa, which was 3 old homes connected together for the past 21 years, this is a old building that had been stripped to the outside walls and everything needed was brought in new! Everything from the tables to the seating to the sinks and toilets etc are brand new! i am looking forward to seeing it when i get to SP February 7th,
  24. how much cheaper are you looking for? it is around $37.50 US now!
