  1. "There are more gay strip clubs on one street in Bangkok then there are in 50 states and 300 million people in the USA. Same in comparison with Brazil. If you don't like Saunas , Brazil has nothing to offer except Porte Allegre 2 nights a week. And there it is just a pick up bar."

Brazil has nothing to offer? There is much culture in Brazil, away from the saunas. Sao Paulo, for example, has 80 museums plus live musical concerts and operas and other cultural events. There are also several art museums and traveling art exhibits from many parts of the world.

In view of your misinformed opinion about Brazil, I believe that you made a good decision by cancelling your scheduled July trip.

Really even a non English speaker would be able to figure out that my sentence referred to Strip Clubs etc an was no comment on what else besides boys is available in Brazil. Either English is not your first language or you just want to argue with your inane comments!

Grow up1. If you think it so safe then make sure you go back to all the same places you usually go and report back about your muggings.

If you didn't want comments on your misfortune then you should not have posted about it. Have a nice trip and stop putting words in my mouth!!!

  2. "Bottom line, I think you like Thailand rather than Brazil. There is nothing wrong with that. We all like different things. If we were all the same and we only liked one thing, what a deadly dull world this would be."

    Attacked?

    :no::ike::lol:

You keep saying that. I can't find anywhere in this post where I mentioned Thailand . In fact I mentioned multiple cities all over Europe, not one of which I felt uneasy in while walking the streets at any time of day.

That is impossible in Brazil especially now. You are entitled to take what risks you feel are warranted even if I find it hard to understand your decision.

However stop putting words in my mouth about Thailand. I have visited Brazil 5 times and I venture to say . most of the readers of these forums have never been there.

That I never felt completely comfortable is a fact . That is going to an ATM machine, going 1 block off of Copacabana at night exec etc etc. I still went there 5 times. I had plans to go there again for the 6th time in July and after reading IHP Guys report and knowing my general feelings about safety there I cancelled.

I didn't cancel because of Thailand but because in my view it is less safe now then at any time of my previous visits. I choose not to take the risk and therefore reduce the chance that I will be attacked like you were . You may never have such a terrible thing happen to you again but if you really think it was just because you frequented into an unsafe area , then you fail to recognize that many places once considered safe are now less safe.

Please stop putting words in my mouth about Thailand. I have visited 42 countries since my last trip to Brazil and not once did I ever feel the uneasiness that I always felt in Brazil.. Maybe in the past those feelings were less warranted then they are now. But now is what we are talking about!

  3. It is amazing to me that some posters do not realize that just because they have had many trips to Brazil where nothing happened to them , that it means there is not a signifigant increase in danger at this time.

When posters who live there post that it is becoming less safe , I tend to listen.

Mvan chooses to return and that is his right . I think what he does not seem to realize is apparently there are a lot more places now that are the wrong places to be.

There can be no argument that the economy is in shambles in Brazil and this alone it makes it less safe.

Of course statistics can be skewed in many ways and if all you look is at reported crime rates then I would not visit Chicago.

In fact where I might go in Chicago is probably very safe.

Rio for years has been a place where you don't venture into areas even 1 block off the Beach and you take all the precautions of Tomcal etc.

I have just finished a trip to Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Kracow, Warsaw and all of Southern Ireland. Not once did I feel that I had to be careful where I went . I have never felt that comfortable in any of my 5 trips to Brazil which for me is mostly Rio.

My recent cancelled trip would have been strictly a Tourist trip with friends from High School.

After reading IPguy 's reports and many other reports of the economy collapse , I choose to cancel the trip.

Certainly there is enough information here and in news reports for anyone to make an informed decision about safety concerns.

I have made mine and hope we will not see any more reports here of members being attacked!

  4. I had already used miles for tickets in July to Rio quite a few months ago. Cancelled.

Too many wonderful places in the world to travel where you need not be concerned for your life. Yes and even other places with lots of Boys with Big Dicks.

Colombia, Thailand, Spain and many more. Granted if saunas are your thing then Brazil rules.

Hopefully the economy will get better and the country will become safer. Until then the handwriting is on the wall. The reason airfares are plummeting and Hotel rates are way down is because the average person has decided it is not safe to travel there.

    And apparently they are right!

  5. There is no doubt about it. USA treats visitors from many countries quite badly as far as getting visas etc. Brazilians have to pay a lot of money for potential Visa to the USA and if refused no money is returned.

That is the reason for reciprocity for USA citizens to visit Brazil . The Visa has always been ridiculously expensive compared to the rest of the world and that is the reason.

Argentina does the same thing. Who can blame them?

  6. While alluring, the violence and vastness of Brazil's cities deters me. Thailand seems much more simpatico, though profoundly different in terms of the guys.

I understand what you are saying. Some people don't like Asians but anyone who says they can't find muscle boys with Big Cocks in Thailand just does not know where to look.

As Planetime posted in the Asian section just go to Hero Massage 364 days a year at 5pm and there will be at least 50 Masculine Muscle Boys for you to choose from and many of them have Big Dicks..

  7. Too bad such a beautiful city has to have these sort of things happening. It is certainly not new but has been happening for years.

My first trip I followed all of Tomcal's rules and never had a problem but certainly felt uneasy many times . That uneasiness continued on subsequent trips.

Now reports make it sound like it is getting worse, just in time for next years Olympics. Great advertisement !!

That is certainly one of the reasons I don't go there any more. Plenty of destinations where I have never had that feeling.

But I certainly understand many not being deterred by this problem.

  8. "You have not been to Brazil in what? 12 or more years or more ago but you are a authority on the saunas there....hmmm Have you thought that there are a significant number of gay men that are not sexually attracted to Asians and particularly the effeminine types that you like?"

In two days, I will be returning to Brazil for my 124th trip. I visit Brazil every five or six weeks and spend between two weeks and one month each time I visit there. What caused you to believe that I have not been to Brazil in 12 years?

You have me confused with someone else because I am "not sexually attracted to Asians and particularly the effeminine types that you like?"

It is the masculine garotos that attracts me to Brazil, not the effeminate guys you alleged.

"You have jumped into the Brazil forum to talk about Thailand on more then one occasion!"

Not only did you confuse me with another person and get facts all twisted and incorrect, you don't even know that this is not the Brazil forum, it is the Asian forum.

This forum is generally a place of entertainment or a place to disseminate information or to help other forum users. However, your post fails to fall within the foregoing categories. Instead, your post is down right inaccurate and it makes no sense.

Your post should be an embarrassment to you.

You don't even know what posts you are replying to. You mix up posts of 2 different members and then reply like it was one member. Try reading what yo write before you post it!

  9. a prime example of the pot calling the kettle black!

Have you thought of taking your own advise? You have jumped into the Brazil forum to talk about Thailand on more then one occasion! Maybe you do not know what you are talking about since You have not been to Brazil in what? 12 or more years or more ago but you are a authority on the saunas there....hmmm Have you thought that there are a significant number of gay men that are not sexually attracted to Asians and particularly the effeminine types that you like?

As someone who has contributed almost nothing to these Forums with a grand total of 5 posts , I don't much care what you think! And by the way for Mvan Like Oz I have made 60 trips to Thailand and never been asked for a passport. And Mvan is the one who started this with ridiculous assertions about Thailand which he apparently really knows nothing about except what he reads on blogs.

  10. Unfortunately you don't know what you are talking about . The girlie clubs get harassed way more then the Gay Clubs and it is just for the police to pad their pockets.

Visitors are never bothered except for drugs and under age prostitution which they should be and would certainly be harassed in the USA etc for any of those type of situations.

There are more gay strip clubs on one street in Bangkok then there are in 50 states and 300 million people in the USA. Same in comparison with Brazil. If you don't like Saunas , Brazil has nothing to offer except Porte Allegre 2 nights a week. And there it is just a pick up bar .

Thailand is one of the easiest countries for a Gay Customer looking for Sex Shows, GoGo Boys and live Sex shows. The customer is never harassed unless you consider asking for his passport to be harassment.

All the newspaper clipping you posted have nothing to do with Thailand. So why even mention them . This Forum is about Asia and what goes on in Spain or Brazil can be posted in the Forum that is for those areas.

  11. Firecat, I'll bet when you posted your enthusiastic and heartfelt impressions of Krakow, you never expected some of the responses!

I was in Prague some years ago and should've made a side trip to Krakow. I'm still interested but I'm now fixated on Colombia and Thailand!

It is really tough to get over the prices in Kracow. Not sure how long it will last. We ate a lot of Polish food which we loved but had 2 great Italian meals . Pasta dishes were the equivalent of $6 or less and the same dishes here in Madrid are $13-$15.

Same for things bought in convenient stores and taxis etc. Just great value for your travel dollar.

  12. Well I have been to all those cities and they are very beautiful, or at least some of them . You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. None of the squares you mentioned compare with Kracow IMHO.

Not only that since money is always a factor in peoples travel, most you mentioned are 2-3 x as expensive for everything (Booze .Food.Hotels etc)

And in London Prague ,Budapest etc the food sucks and is expensive especially in the areas visited by tourists. Not so in Kracow . We have found it impossible to find a restaurant that was not superb and way cheaper then any of those other cities.

You are welcome to your prejudices.

Also anyone with even the littlest bit of knowledge knows that Pope Pius X12 knew what the Germans were doing as early as 1939 and continued to receive pleas for help from many countries. He did nothing and he stood along with many others in many countries that did nothing.

There were more Polish citizens exterminated then any other country and because they were Jewish does not change the fact that they were Polish..

So save your condemnation for those people who were not occupied by tanks and Hitler's Gestapo.

  13. As far as the beauty of certain cities my comparison was meant to be with cities that millions of tourists go to like Prague

where descriptions of town squares and outdoor cafes etc are constantly written about.

IMHO no comparison, Kracow wins easily. You bring up 2 very small cities that I admit I have never been to nor have the great % of tourists in the world ever heard of or will visit.

I will never be able to comment on the beauty of those cities because I will likely never visit there, nor will the vast majority of tourists in Europe.

You are entitled to your opinion and I may be missing these beautiful small cities but there are only so many places the average person can visit especially when most people spend the majority of their lives working!

  14. The Ugly Side as you refer to it is the whole world knew what was going on and ignored it. The catholic church had first hand knowledge of what was going on and ignored it. The Pope did nothing and the leaders of the Free World did nothing.

Most of those did not have German Tanks and soldiers in their cities like Poland did. Easy to mouth off after the fact when those countries were never under any Occupation.

There were individuals around the world that did what they could like Schindler but what they did was a drop in the bucket while the extermination was going on over a long period of years.

And in addition I get a real kick out of the people who refer to the monuments and Camps etc as a remembrance to make sure this sort of thing never happens again.

Well guess what , far more people are being killed every year in Africa and Islamic countries (Syria) and the World does nothing.

History and remembrance is a good thing but preaching or blaming people who did not stand up to tanks and machine guns serves no purpose especially when most of that generation is dead.

I prefer to look at a city as it is now and realize that I have no way to know what I would have or could have done under similar circumstances.

And by the way I am Jewish!!

  15. "See the other side of things of this evil complicitous anti-Semetic nation.

Make sure to spend most of an entire day visiting both Auschwitz-Birkenau 1 and Auschwitz-Berkenau 2.

No film or TV show can ever show the true horror.

Denials that the Poles had no clue? Easy decision.

On a lighter note, take the day tour to Wieliczka Salt Mine. At least a half-day at Wawel Castle Both memorable.

IMO, Bruges or Ghent are hands down more beautiful"

Hardly a fair comparison. Bruges is the size of a village and Ghent has 25% of the population of Kracow . Need to compare apples with apples not apples with grapes.. Kracow is a booming city of almost a million people and someone will have to show me a more beautiful city rather then a town.

Under that argument I could say Zermatt is prettier then all of them. Hardly a fair comparison.

And one of the Europeans staunchest Allies are the same Germans that were the Monsters!! Those same Germans destroyed Warsaw to the ground and the Poles suffered 6 million dead and the highest % of population killed of any country in WW2.

  16. Well I agree with everything. I only took issue with "there is no place like it in the world". That is not true. Some will like Brazil better, some Thailand and some equally both.

But anyone who thinks that Brazil is the only Heaven for the thing we like are missing another opportunity in Thailand.

And as far as my preferred type of twinks ,it is not even close. For every 1 twink in Rio there are 10 or more in Bangkok or Pattaya.

  17. Just not true!!! But again it depends what you like. Way more choice in Thailand and Hotels, restaurants etc way less money.

Many of us don't like Saunas. I prefer to see the boys on stage and go on a street where there are 15- 20 GoGo Bars where the boys are on display. None of this 20-30 minute stuff in a Cabin the size of a jail cell but a relaxing couple of hours for the same price in my Hotel Room that costs a fraction of the same Hotel in Brazil where your favorite boys are not welcome. Just my opinion.
