I check out Craigslist in SF fequently because you never know when some cute new guy will put up an ad. Once in a blue moon I score. Recently there's been a big backlash to the phony trashy escorts posting every day in SF. Their ads are flagged and there's been public complaints about the frauds and flagging. It's funny seeing these old frauds try to defend their out-of-date pics and misrepresentations. But it wouldn't be funny at all if you're a business traveller and don't know all the phony/misleading ads. Be VERY CAREFUL with anything you may find on Craigslist in SF. Notwitstanding the above, I have found a few gems on CL in SF including one guy I continue to see and who now has a profile here. Ryunosuke in SF is a hot and sweet young guy. He's mixed race and very smooth and twinkish. He has done some porn and is a fabulous companion. I don't give my highest seal of approval to many escorts. I wouldn't touch that site with a ten foot pole, much less think it's a breeding ground for quality escorts. Often times you end up getting what you pay for. Sure, CL serves its purpose for working guys, as it attracts the newbies who are desperately looking to make their car payment or the over-the-hillers who can't find work anywhere else. I wouldn't consider it a good option (or ad space) for those who are in their prime or wanting to attract a higher-end clientele. Aside from the marketing aspect, i've heard that CL is swarming with police activity. Seems to me like looking for a million dollars in a mine field. The response time to my emails is certainly faster with CL than the escort websites. Most of my travel is recreational and planned in advance, so I have the advantage of looking through the CL listings weeks ahead of time. I can only attest to CL listings in SF. There are about 5% to 10% that are legitimate and minimally desirable. And I like trashy street trade myself. I really don't care about the price at all (even outrageously high "varying" prices depending on what you look like, what you want to do, whether the escort can accommodate you with a clean asshole, etc.). I find these factors to be outrageous. The high-priced escorts who vary their prices depending on how "disgusting" their clients are equally disgusting to me. I would never hire them no matter how much their fees were discounted. I wouldn't take them for free or even if they paid me. Does that communicate the degree of repulsiveness? Now here's the truth. I don't care about price or money at all as long as my escort is incredibly slutty and eager. With few exceptions, I find most high-end escorts (and a much higher percentage of low-end escorts) to be very boring. INCREDIBLY BORING! I'm much more turned on reading a review by StuCotts or SilverDollar or certain others than I am being with certain escorts. That's why I don't even bother to review them.The world has changed, totally changed, in terms of escorts, hustlers and working boys. Let's be honest--most of them these days SUCK. Even worse, I mean they don't even know how to SUCK. They're pitiful! But a boy like Kevin of Montreal gives me a lttle hope, as well as a few others out there, like Trey Thurston, Jonathan Lowe, Ryunosuke, etc. A VERY FEW. I don't care about all the nice and flattering reviews. Many clients, icluding me, are much too accepting of high and outrageous prices combined with crappy service from so-so and average-looking escorts. Just hacking through the thicket for the 1% or 2% that are potentially acceptable is drudgery. Assuming that I spot a very few I'm willing to try contacting and that I get a reply, I have to work at making them understand that looks are all very well, but I don't do trade or put up with stinking crotches and asses. If that gets me attitude I respond in kind or just hang up. If they sound disappointed I may in charity remind them that there are lots of clients who not only put up with those things, but insist on them. However the conversation goes, by the end of it I've lost all interest and likely gone off my feed. So much for CL. Plodding through rentboy and others of its ilk for their ±5% is only marginally less tiresome. But what else to do? Take to the streets, bars or baths? They have even less to offer me than the options considered here. Rentboy-type escorts are, as a group, more courteous than the CL bunch. But everything you say about how dull and/or overpriced a lot of them are is sadly true. Yet, even the yawn-inducers seem to do a brisk business, regardless of fee schedule. Like you, I'm distressed at the many reviews that are clear on just how little it takes to make some guys feel like they've had a real sexual experience, and how much they're prepared to pay for a wishy-washy time. As long as the bar is set so low by so many, probably most, clients, nothing will improve. Writing reviews -- at least for MER, where an honest review gets honest treatment -- is an attempt to show what is out there, for better or worse. But how many clients review? Maybe 0.1%? And in the whole universe of reviews, how many are honest? Damn few. For that reason, I wish you would rethink your aversion to writing reviews of escorts who were flops, if only for the good they'll do the rest of us. All the above represents my strictly personal experience. I'm getting it off my chest in full awareness that I may be labeled a wet blanket. I've been called worse for less. Luckily for me, I've managed to avoid notable flops, including by sending people away at the door. When I look at some of these ads with my ex bf, we just laugh and move on. I've honed it down to an art, with a few "custom" types of response e-mails for the different types of guys I'm interested in. I'll do 2 or 3 rounds of e-mail, trying to find out if they kiss/go down and do fetishes (my big interest here), money afterwards and no upcharges (I note these are instant disqualifiers...) then switch to phone. This weeds out the tweakers and the fakes. I've met 6 excellent guys and 4 so-so guys with no stinkers in the last two months with followup dates for 3 of the best, an excellent track record if I do say so myself. Thing is, I'm most interested in a regular weekly thing... Matt, my current regular is getting ready to move to Texas, so I'm shopping for a new weekly guy... For a this last weekends trip to SF I contacted 6 different fellas.ONLY ONE responded to my initial inquiry-and he did not respond to a follow up email.I know these fellas must get bore by email tag but If I don't get a phone number in the first response how else can I contact the guy? Stellas was known for hot boys but hustler, flakes and liars. The same seemed to be true in NYC when I tried to hook up. Many no responses. Many responded with weird questions and many just flakes. BTW, Craigslist-SF is a true dice role- on rainy weekends its basically useless as the boys seem less inclined to travel- one would think rainy weekend would drive UP business- more clients "ordering in" and not going to the clubs and such. As for rentboy, that's a waste of time to IMO and I'm glad my first month was free and I could cancel without having to pay anything. I got a grand total of 4 contacts from it and 3 of them wanted to talk dirty to me, and ALL of them called at like 2-5am. Granted I'm new to this, but why would you call an escort to make an appt at 5am on a Saturday morning. I'm either with my client from Friday night or sleeping LOL Maybe it's just me.
