I just came back from 3 weeks in Buenos Aires. You may like to hear about what I found. Even those familiar with the city may be surprised by the changes.

Compared to February 2010 (when I was last there), there are many more strikes and protests blocking the roads including the highway to the international airport at Ezeiza and on the day I left, Immigration had only 1 desk out of 15 staffed so delays to enter and leave the country were about 2 hours.

Inflation is rampant, and many things now cost more than in central London. Crime has also increased: robberies of foreign tourists were up 23% in 2010; muggings tend to be violent and women have been robbed in broad daylight on swanky Avenida Alvear. Many more people were sleeping in the streets at night.

All that said, Buenos Aires remains an exciting city. Elections are due in late October and I would advise any traveller to exercise caution even if you've visited the city before as areas change (and become less safe) between visits.

Thanks for the update, they are always welcome and appreciated. This one also provides especially critical information for those planning a trip in the near future.

I, too, thank you for your update! They are always so welcoming! My good friend and I plan to be in Buenos Aires a mere five days in October. I'm looking forward to this trip, for this will be my fifth one to the "city of the portenos!"

I'm anticipating some different experiences, the first one will be our having a wonderfully appointed luxury apartment in one of the Palermo barrios! We've basically lodged in Recoleta in the past, so a change in venue will be exciting as well as varied.

I want to go to one or two Houses of Boys for that experience, too, and plan to engage the services of Augusto, a reputable guide, to accompany me there!!!

We hope to try some new restaurants or different ones from the past and take in some cultural events, too!

Please just bear in mind that

1. your proposed visit in October may coincide with the Presidential election, and politics there often takes the form of mass protests and riots; and

2. Palermo is an attractive area but still very mixed. It is known as an area that appeals to young foreigners and tourists. Crime has increased, and it was already bad a year ago when a policeman was shot dead as he interrupted a restaurant-robbery only 3 blocks from where we were eating at the time, in a fashionable restaurant named 'Cluny'

Thanks, but I'll remain optimistic! I was in Buenos Aires during the last election and did not encounter any difficulty whatsoever! Also, "the Portenos" are known for their spontaneous strikes and marches. Have been there when they've occurred, too. I guess I've been fortunate and hope to continue to be so, but again, I always go into situations OPTIMISTICALLY after hearing about some negatives and acute problems.

I will be in Buenos Aires from November 27 to December 2. Any final recommendation on the place to stay, guide, escort, clubs to visit, ... ? Thanks !

I booked an hotel in Buenos Aires. Anyone knows of a reliable guide who could take us around the city, in particular at night to visit the hot places ?

I received a very warm and glorious welcome while in Buenos Aires for a mere five days. Our time went by so fast that I fretted for not staying longer.

Because I had a lengthy plan--I arrived a day earlier than my friend and checked into a gorgeous, gorgeous two bedroom penthouse apartment in Palermo. I booked it through www.Ba4uapartments.com.ar. I'd used their services in 2010 when I had another beautiful one bedroom apartment in Recoleta on Santa Fe Ave.

My friend and I had reserved another two bedroom apartment in the same building, but a few weeks prior to our arrival, the manager emailed me and stated that the owner of our desired apartment wanted to rent it for a longer period of time, so he'd give us the penthouse. Men, did he do well by us. We had views from all vantage points of this two bedroom dig. We could see almost all of Buenos Aires from most vantage points.

But, that is not what you guys want to read. I had only two encounters. One was with Gaston who's on www.rentboy.com. His pics there are horrible; he's a hot, hirsute, interactive muscle guy who knows how to please a man. Because of what he did to me, "my explosion" happened much too quickly. Also managed to see Abel and Norbert in a 3way. Their ads are at www.ratonesonline.com. In looking back they served me well except for their cleaning up immediately after our encounter instead of applying me with some cuddling and kissing and other things that occur after all had erupted.

Had contacted Ivo but he was late in responding. Had really wanted to see TonyLatin and should have because after my friend found out through me that Tony was available and could converse in English, he saw him and did experience what he'd sought. Apparently Tony is "a true Latin Lover!" I could kick myself for not taking the leap as I'd desired on the first night of my arrival.

As mentioned above our time apparently was limited, so we had dinner at Las Cabera with our former guide and friend/Marcelo of www.ciceroneba.com.ar. We had one hell of a delightful time. Afterwards, because it was late for the both of us, we returned home.

On Friday my friend and I spent the day in rainy Colonia in Uruguay. Nature ruined this part of the trip for us. Later that evening, ww joined another guide/escort (Jorge aka Chorch) and his amigo Sebastian aka Esteban Leon for dinner at Inside Restaurant, the place that has the hottest of strippers.

Men, you would have been beyond yourselves, especially when each stripper came to your table and allowed you to feel his bod in spite of the regimentation.

Since Chorch knows the owner of the restaurant, each stripper made it a point to come to our table and entertain. At the end of each of their acts, they showed "pipe," and I do mean many hard inches. Almost all of the guys "brought down the house" in their revealing this "key element!"

On Saturday my amigo and I went to two street fairs, one in Recoleta and the other in Palermo. I found some timely yet inexpensive goods at each one. From there we ventured to one of our favorite barrios La Boca. We sauntered around and merely witnessed the people and took key photos.

Because we were tired, on Sunday we did little except to wait on the two men who "conquered me" and the one hottie TonyLatin who left my friend with an "afterglow" to long remember and me filled with envy. I was to have seen Tony on my first night while in Buenos Aires: I failed to do it because Gaston had me desiring that hirsute hunk. (Remember his pics definitely DO NOT DO him justice;) he should remove them and put up others which show how hot he really is. I am quite, quite particular, so if he looked "ugly," I would NOT have sought out his expertise! He was very, very good in the sex department!) :P:P I will NOT be writing any reviews!!

That's it for now! Buenos Aires did receive my friend and me well, and I do hope to return one of these days. When? Only time and other factors will and can tell!!!!

Monday it was off to Rio de janeiro for thirteen days with time spent in

Paraty for two quiet yet meaningful days!!!!!!

Pauleiro, it is the 2nd of November. I'm wondering if you have taken your trip. If you haven't I'd recommend Chorch (Jorge) a porteno whose services my friend and I used in 2006 when I first introduced him to "The Paris of the South."

Chorch is an escort, but he has a business which he runs during the day. He also has a hot partner, Esteban Leon. Both will show you a very good time, and if you're into having a 3way with them, man--the sex could NOT be better. I saw them twice in a torrid and highly memorable 3way about which you can read @ www.daddysreviews.com. Just type in one of their names to access it.

Consult www.gayguideargentina.com.ar; it is quite a valuable site!

Let me know if I am too late with this information.

Thanks for the information. It is not too late. I was thinking of having a guide in Buenos Aires. I still have some time to plan. After having read Tomcal's recent post on Porto Alegre, I am glad I booked 2 week ends in Porto Alegre (which means I will not stay a week end in Buenos Aires). Too little time, too many boys !

Pauleiro, I'd highly, highly recommend Marcelo to you as a guide for all of your cultural activites that are in Buenos Aires; that's if you care not to take these in on your own. He's a 30 year old gay cutie who is a licensed tour guide; his website is: www.ciceroneba.com.ar, and during my five trips to "The Paris of the South," he's been my guide twice. On my first trip, he assisted in my hiring a hot porteno, but I think he particularly cares NOT to do this. He didn't say anything specifically to me about it, but on another site, there are some unpleasant comments made about this guy who I highly respect and who showed me the best of times while I was in his country/city.

When my friend and I were in Buenos Aires last month (October) we went to dinner with Marcelo and had one of our best times while being in his company. We view him as a friend moreso than as an outside guide. If you do engage his services, please tell him that Eduardo from Monterey highly recommended him.

Chorch, on the other hand, is an amiable man, escort, businessman. He and his wonderful friend/partner took my friend and me to dinner at "The Inside Restaurant." If you are in Buenos Aires on a Friday night, I'd take Chorch to dinner at this place; it has strippers. On the night that we were there, I did NOT like our table of four this time, but I did like the fact that all of the dancers/strippers came to our table and wanted us to touch their taut bodies; I think they did this because Chorch knows the owners.

Chorch can set you up with escorts; he did it for me in 2006 when my friend and I used him as our guide; it was his first time being a guide, and he did ok. I knew about a few places to go on the cultural side that he apparently did not.

His English is so, so when you speak slowly to him. He, as I mentioned, is likable and personable; he loved my friend. He and I have had two 3WAYs, both great, but the stellar one happened amongst him and "my love"/his friend Esteban Leo. Damn, it was a time that I shall always remember. Find my report @ www.daddysreviews.com under the name of either.

Before I forget, Chorch's telephone number is (as posted at www.rentmen.com) 15 6108-1269. If you manage to connect with him, please tell him that Edward/Eduardo's, Julian's friend and traveling companion recommended him. He loved Julian, my friend, upon first meeting him which pissed me off because I was the one who had been in contact with him; it was far from my being jealous.

Now, if you want a third recommendation--I'd recommend Matt who is an expat from New England. He was my guide for a day in 2010. He has a full time job and can only serve as a guide on a Saturday. When I was with him, we did not talk about sex or gay life very much at all; we focused on the cultural attributes, on this day hotel hopping to check out the decor and the architecture, but he knows Buenos Aires as well as other parts of Argentina and other countries in South America. <I'll send you his name from his Facebook Page; I've forgotten his last name.>

Lastly, there's Roberto, a much, much older man but an individual who knows the culture and history. I used his services and was quite satisfied. Find his contact info. in "Escorts South..." at www.daddysreviews.com., but if I were you, I'd use my first recommendation as I stated and Chorch for the slightly "naughty" stuff. Also, check out the escort sites for BsAs. There are a lot of hot men from which to choose. I don't know your requirements but would highly recommend the two guys previously mentioned as well as TonyLatino who's ad is at www.rentboy.com; his fee is $100US, but apparently he's worth it and more.

He recently rocked my friend's world. <Let me know in a pvt. how things worked, and please write a report here of your travels and experiences to one of my favorite cities in the world. My friend and I spent too short a time there this time; for me a mere five days, and for him four. The days sped!>

It was my first trip to Buenos Aires. Even though it was a short stay of 5 days during week days, I was lucky to meet some persons who introduced me to the Buenos Aires life and gay life. Thanks to Jean-Pierre, Adolfo and Miguel. Thanks also to Daniel from the Ideal Cine.

I must say that I loved that city. In addition to the visit to boy places, the city is great to visit. We visited the Pink House (President's house), the Opera, had a 3 1/2hour bus tour of the city (they leave from Florida street, close to the Placa de Mayo). I attended one of the Thursday 3.30 pm meeting of Madres de Plaça de Mayo (since first time on April 30th 1977, it is almost the 2000 th time they meet). Lot of emotion. I saw lot of demonstrations, almost every day, with posters of Che Guevara brought by many of the participants. Even some posters of Fidel Castro ! Hey, these guys do not read newspapers ?

We had great food also in the Puerto Madero area which has been perfectly and intelligently re organized (high end expensive : Cabana Las Lilas - good value for your money : Siga La Vaca (meat is almost as good as in Cabana Las Lilas - it is necessary to go there before 8.30 pm).

Looking forwards to going back ...
