Guest tomcal Posted July 7, 2015 Share Posted July 7, 2015 I was on the phone tonight with Acyr the owner of Meo Mundo and he told me he and his partner bought Pointe 202 from Junior who just opened the new smaller sauna in Botofogo. They take over Wednesday. They will also keep Meo Mundo. So Rio will be back up to 4 rentboy saunas. He said there will be no changes to Pointe in the near future except for new paint. Guest tomcal Posted July 7, 2015 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Tealady, take one for the team and check out Junior's new sauna in Botofugo and send us a report! :-) I was told by several people that while it is small it is very nice...I just saw some photos of the interior and it does look nice...but definitely more on the "cozy" vs. "spacious" side! I don't think there will be major changes in where the guys work this week, since they are finding out about this today, but the general feeling is a number of guys who work at 117 will probably migrate back to Pointe! Junior was not liked by a lot of the garotos for a number of reasons, plus he was always trying to get the sauna to be different things, i.e. a after hours club after the sauna would close, a clothing store..he would bring athletic shoes and shirts back from his NYC shopping trips and made a room past the locker rooms a selling space for the apparel, plus use of drugs and loud music turned off customers. The location is great for tourists as 99% stay in Copa or Ipanema. Junior was a garoto about 15 years ago before he decided to go into management/ownership of saunas. below is pics of him taken this June for those of you who like older muscle guys, he's still in great shape. I think he is about 37 now. I am friends with several of his ex's and they all say, he's very hung! :-) Back in 2002 and 03 when he first opened Estacau sauna and then Pointe,, he would still escort for special clients, and you would see him in a towel, but not the sauna towels and I was told his price was $500.R when the going rate back then for everyone was $50.R. Fond memories of Estacao and Pointe 202! Thanks for mentioning them above. I remember those saunas well. I am still in contact with two garotos who used to work at Pointe 202 in 2003 and 2004. They are a bit older but they still look good. Both have gone out of the sauna business. Popular Post sfcastro Posted July 8, 2015 Popular Post Share Posted July 8, 2015 After being told by the guys at Pointe not to come there on Monday but to go to the new sauna, Estacao in Botafogo, I decided to give it a try on Monday a couple weeks ago. The entrance fee was 30 realis and it was a 15 minute walk from the Botafogo subway station. The sauna is extremely small and when I arrived around 8:30 pm, there were two clients (including myself), two garotos working, the doorman, the bartender, the massage therapist and one guy taking care of the rooms. While generally nice and new (except the lockers came from Pointe), I don’t think the sauna will last long unless things change and a lot of garotos and clients start going there, but will be interesting to see now that this is Junior's only sauna . Is Junior the same muscular older (maybe late 30s to mid 40s) guy I've been seeing at Pointe for several years, almost always at the front of the sauna when you walk in, but always dressed (usually in a tight muscle shirt)? I figured he was a manager or something. I never have spoken to him in all the times I've visited. I just got the I,press ion that he wasn't very friendly, but maybe I am wrong. Now, there is also a very attractive guy who works behind the counter at the front desk at Pointe who I met first in late 2014' and saw there again this May (2015). He is always very friendly to me" smiles big and calls me by my Brazilianized name, then says "American boy". I feel bad because I totally forget his name. He has silky, wavy black hair that almost goes to the nape of his neck. He's very handsome and very do-able -- even if he isn't really usually my physical type. Although almost everyone in Brazil has an Italian grandparent, Carmen as a guy’s name is rare. It would have further confuse you not knowing whether he was Carmen or Cohen. Despite having money enough to buy a better business they never spent a penny on their own business, Just to enumerate a few to those who have never been there-for at least a decade hot water ( a essential on any sauna establishment) was only available in a single shower, the last time I was there, 7 months ago, all toilets were "out of order" on the ground floor at the same time! and let's not talk about the one-person-at-a-time spiral staircases in the back, but let's say all is forgiven, it's a new beggining and let's hope the rather nice 202 won't fall in desrepair in just a few months. How about some innovation, like bringing back the "boys nus" night ("naked boys). I know, the hot boys were never fond of the event at both 117 or Meio Mundo, they feel it showed too much to everybody, but what about something more tame like a "sarong night" once a week, aren't we all tired of the godamm towels all the time? This way the good boys would feel confortable and the bad boys would have lots of possibilities making the customers very happy. Hopefully this and other ideas will be considered. In the meantime congratulations to Tomcal for the scoop of the year on the sauna business in Rio, or maybe the biggest scoop ever! The problem seems to be a lack of very good looking boys, not a lack of saunas. I've asked about this before, but posters here seem strangely resistant to discussing why this change has been going on. The same problem appeared at Lagoa, and a cab driver associated with that sauna told me a lot of the "top" business had moved to the internet or to some private venues. Well, OK, but just this once and then we must promise never to speak of it again. In fact, I probably shouldn't be saying anything at all, as my information has come third-hand and from a very unreliable source but, as you have observed many times, no one else has come forward with any acceptable explanation at all. So maybe what I have gleaned will shed a glimmer of light on what has been heretofore a mystery for the ages. About a week ago, I received a very strange email. When I say 'strange', I am not exaggerating in the slightest. I did not recognize the sender's name and was about to toss it in the trash when I noticed the subject line was all in caps and said simply TERCES POT. I had never heard of such a thing and thought perhaps an old choom buddy had cultivated a new strain and was looking for some guidance. Even so, I was reluctant to open it and wouldn't have, had it not been for a sudden gust of wind from a nearby privy that caused my eyes to cross temporarily. It was then that I realized that the subject line said TOP SECRET, backwards. After I had closed the kitchen window, topped up my bowl, and settled my nerves, I decided to throw caution to the winds and find out what this email was all about. It proved to contain an attachment with a strange blue script against a paler blue background. It was like no writing I had seen before but, on a hunch, I dangled a hand mirror next to my computer screen and realized that the script had been painstakingly written backwards in a modest effort to conceal it from prying eyes. I was intrigued at this point and decided to see if I could use one of my photo editing apps to print it out right-way-round. It turns out I couldn't, but the five-year-old in the next trailer could, and soon I was looking at the message in the form it was meant to be seen. A fat lot of good it did me, as it was in Portuguese and the only reason I know this is from reading a few of my fellow-posters' negotiation techniques and recognizing the word leche. At that point I knew it would not be a question of whether, but when I would be able to translate this most mysterious email. It took several days and a visit to the local community college to find Thiago who assured me that he was not only fluent in Portuguese but also extremely discreet. He had a twinkle in his eye when he purred the word 'bilingual' that makes me think he would be good with double entendres. But I digress. The clever freshman was able to translate the email with little trouble and what it contained was a surprise to me and a revelation to Thiago himself. It turns out you have been correct all along about the scarcity of the really good looking guys in the Brazilian saunas and you have also been correct in noticing that it has been happening over a number of years. These twin observations are not coincidences either. From what I was able to tease out, with Thiago's help, from the email is that it was intended for a select group of about fifty garotos, although they do not refer to themselves as such. They call their group melhor do melhor and they all got together owing to a feeling that they were not being properly appreciated in any of the Brazilian saunas and some of them had even been asked to negotiate their rates. Bastante! they cried all at once and have been staying away from the saunas ever since, now going on about five years, give or take. Some of them have been working as models, some have taken jobs as waiters, and some have gone back to living with their girlfriends' parents. They figure as long as they're not going to be idolized in the saunas, they might as well just stay away. But recently, and this was the reason for the email I got, they decided to give their clients one last chance, for one week only, in November. I expect that my email address was hacked from somebody on the secret distribution list. Either that, or they somehow picked it up from this site, which they apparently have been reading and know that they're being discussed. Or, possibly, they really do want everybody to know that all the good looking guys that have disappeared from all the saunas in Brazil for the last few years will be returning, for one week only, in November. They'll take the temperature then and, if they feel they're being worshipped enough and paid what they're worth, they'll take it from there. They'll all have blue pins on their towels, matching the blue on the email I received, and they're doing it in a show of solidarity. They'll go from one sauna to the next, standing around aloof and trying to look as disdainful as possible in a pair of flip flops. If anyone talks to them, they'll turn and roll their eyes at one another. And if they see anybody lying worshipfully prostrate on the floor, they plan to gather around and piss on him. I'm sure they'd all welcome a beer if anybody has extra. I hope this helps answer your ongoing questions and gives some ideas as to what the future may hold.
