In Friday's NY Times, there was a favorable article about Butigieg. What I noted in the article that concerned me was a statement from David Axelrod, Obama's former political consultant. He is supposed to be a friend of Pete's, but he says that Beto O'Rourke has a bigger fishing pole than Pete does. I guess he would know, but they are fishing for many of the same voters. I hope the contest does not come down to who has the bigger pole. The women candidates would not fare well.

You need to hear him speak. That should reframe your reaction to him. He's a quality guy and we can be proud that he is not messing this up.

In other words, he speaks well for his community. I am proud of him.

What I like the most of him is that he does not represent the gay community but every rational, empathetic, common sense person. I never like religious people, but I do like him a lot.

As far as religious denominations go, the Episcopal Church is gay-affirming and offers a lovely liturgical service. One Sunday morning a few years ago a provider and I entered an Episcopal cathedral midway through the service and lustily sang the recessional hymn.
