Is the karaoke” noise” is still blasting out in BT late at night ?. I had thoughts about staying at the Ambience for part of my forth-coming trip but the memory of ear shattering “My Way” at 3am makes me very cautious about making the reservation.

Thanks Vinapu and Z909. Several times I mentioned this story to gay friends at home and in Pats and came into some criticism for “hacking” the email account. That really appeals to me Christian !. Twinks on the gay beach in skimpy speedos which we used to see up to about ten years ago. I remember playing with them in the sea and then taking them back to the hotel or condo. Perhaps one of the beach concessions could be converted into a boy bar/Gogo where boys could be offed.

My next trip will be in four weeks time so having found a good flight I am thinking about the other logistical options. I find the bus options Suvanaphum to Pattaya excellent and the trivial cost saving over a taxi appeals to my sense of economy. I always book the Bell Travel bus online, which you have to, but there is sometimes a long wait for departure so last time I paid for a ticket on the regular bus which left an hour before. This terminates in Jomtien close to the Complex where I have stayed during my last two trips. I just wheel my bag perhaps 300 yards to my hotel. The Bell Travel I use when there is a long wait for the regular bus, although it can take a long time from the Pattaya Nua bus station to Jomtien in the mini bus dropping people off all over. Sort of a belt and braces approach ! However I’m tempted this time to start my trip in Bangkok to try a hunk from Tawan (been reading the threads and looking at Vinapu’s pictures). Twinks abound in Pattaya but muscle boys are in short supply. For the journey Bkk to Pattaya I would go sky train to Ekamai and then take the bus.

No doubt that the pharmacies, 7-11 / Family Marts in the vicinities of the gay areas must be major outlets for the sale of KY. I buy the small tubes (more portable}, which don’t last very long, but their cost is a very small part of my Pattaya expenditure.

During my last trip to Pattaya I stayed in the Jomtien Complex and used the host bars there rather a lot. The evening activities seemed to be divided into three phases. Firstly from about 5 pm till say 9.30 pm it’s all about attracting customers, arriving from dinner, into the bars and that is what the boys do, whilst having fun in the Soi. Expats tend to sit together and are well known to the boys. Those on holiday, like myself, are left alone unless they specifically ask a boy to sit with them. This can be a mistake as the boy will claim you and it is difficult to engage another due to the compact nature of the bar area. Leave interaction till later. After say 10.30 some of the customers depart and the boys make moves towards the remainder, looking for drinks and offs. You see more intimate conduct, such as kissing and cuddling. After about 12 the bars are definitely quieter with many boys having departed with customers, but there will still be a few that would attract you until as late as 3 am, when I would certainly be in bed with my boyfriend du jour.

Agree with you there Vinapu. There was still a good number of older gay farangs (including myself) to be seen in Sunee and Jomtien. Although it looks like we have surrendered territory in Boyztown. I will however do a reconisence during my next visit to Pattaya which will hopefully be in early December. It’s more than a year ago that I last offed from BT.

I very much understand the explanation of probabity as described by Curtis and I thank him for this. I then think back to my own experience of having unprotected anal sex during my first three visits (totalling about 12 weeks) to Pattaya in 2001 and 2002. At a conservative estimiate I think I must have topped around 30 boys sans condom in that period. Doing a bit of calculating of probability, taking Curtis’ statistics, it would seem that I was extremely lucky to avoid HIV or another STD but I did. I too make usually 3 trips every year to Pattaya and I cannot remember being bored. I like to keep fit whilst there although the heat and humidity makes it a challenge. Yes I can confirm what Biguyby says. I think Punya would quickly hear about it if asking for money became prevelent rather than the exception. However there always used to be a number of Thai boys present around the pool who were obviously looking for farang boyfriends or more likely daddies. When they did venture upstairs into the maze they were quickly the centre of attraction, but I dont think having fun there was the motive. I remember a number of years ago when boys were available on the gay beach I occasionally took one to the Sansuck, to have sex there rather than,in an ST room.

I didn’t visit during my July trip, whereas in previous years I used always to go, sometimes several times in each week. It is of course an awkward place to get to, unless you are ok with riding rented motor bikes or motor bike taxis. When I stayed in BT I got there by taking a Jomtien bound baht bus and remembering where to get off and then walking down the Soi. Getting back at about 9.30 pm was a bit more difficult as I recall that having walked back to main road and found all the motor bike men had gone and Pattaya bound baht buses did not stop due to being full- nothing for it but to hike back to BT. Mind you there was a lot of action in the maze that night and I stayed late playing in the whirl pool.

Paborn your reference to the Ambiance maze brings back memories for me. Once I brought back a boy I had offed and then had to wander about with him trying to locate my room looking for landmarks, such as a statue to help me. Very embarrassing !. Maybe I can’t be too critical of boys posting pictures taken a few years earlier. My main GR picture dates from seven years ago when I rather looked better in speedos than now !. Spot on Londoner !. When I first discovered Thailand in 2001 the exchange rate was around 70 baht for each pound. I rejoiced in the fantastic value of everything hotels, boys, food and drink. Previously I spent my holidays in Playa del Ingles, a well known destination for gays, where commercial sex was much more expensive. This rate resulted mainly from the Asian financial crisis which has corrected itself over the years. A lot of the complaints about costs in Thailand are made by those like myself who remember the “golden days”. Maybe my memory is faulty but I think the quality and quantity of boys was greater in those days, with many to be found in the bars and gogo’s Of PBM standard who were eager to please. During recent trips I found twinks available in the Jomtien Complex to a greater extent than in BT and Sunee.
