I'm not happy either with soi alleged demise but also very curious how whole moving thing will develop and if we will have new gay area somewhere or be forced to visit various places scattered around the city
-
From post on Gaybutton forum it looks that Dick's cafe this time closed for sure, soi is emptying one by one , I guess

and that is an ultimate prize we should be taking home from Thailand or in fact , from any other vacation as well. Rarely everything works well all the time but spoilers like weather or bad food should not weight too heavily on our experience over all.

try this about 150 baht in 7/11, I always have it in my room fridge and I'm not exactly known for drinking just water boys seem to like it too

up to you

count your blessings that you there and can pay it

keep in mind we may be for the same type of boys and still boy I will be salivating about will not warrant second glance from you and other way around. I tested it many times when visiting bars and massages with other forum members, always it was that something which caused me to like other boy then their best pick

cheap skate would use public bus for 6.50

since it's more than 20 years since I was last time in sauna I'm in boycott movement ever since, just not my environment , dual pricing or not
-
who are Beatles, I never heard about them ? It's you favorite Singaporean band ?

sure but it helps to understand where cheap room rates are coming from, inconvenient or noisy location, lack of amenities, aged furniture , noisy A/C and yes , shortcutting on maintenance so at timers we need to make decision z909 mentioned in post #9 , save 400 baht and endure mold in shower and lack of toiletries or splurge for that quieter air conditioner or newish towel . There's no coincidence that Le Cafe Royal is closed while Ambiance and Copa are still running as Cafe had chepest rates and free breakfast thrown in last Sept. Few of us mourn Om Yim / now Na Nara hostel / great gay friendly place for years which started sliding in maintenance while trying to maintain low rates . In short one gets what one pays for which doesn't meant great bargains and values for money don't exist -they do and Malaysia Hotel comes to mind imediately

... if not even worse

hailing taxi in Bangkok is one of easiest things to do in the entire world and I'm surprised it needs to be outsourced treat looks fabulous - where you get it ? Doesn't look as Foodland Patpong offering , LOL

not that I'm big fan of dual pricing but as long as it's posted up front I don't mind. Our protests about it's unfairness are bit sanctimonious when we take into account that often we are on receiving end of it's benefits - visa free access to Thailand for most westerners is one example. Chakran's point about visa fees it well pointed, unknown to most of us is fact that some of our countries are charging hefty visa fee up front and it's not refundable in case admission or visa is not granted.

perhaps Siam Heritage loosened up a bit because I'm pretty sure on one of forums we had while ago report on no trouble with guest although it could be a case of boy being registered with poster

.....walk with boy picked from Tawan without a need to cross the street

I'm shocked, luxury it is not but modern, spacious and good value for a price . Never felt unsafe walking there and I stay at Nantra at least 2-3 nights every trip in last few years . I find it particularly useful, due to low price, for those late arrival , early departures as it's more economical to say in cheaper hotel when one arrives at 3 a.m, or departures at so doesn't have full time use of the room. I'm not one of those who would camp till 7 am in the airport to avoid paying for half used night .,

Soi will declare independence from Thailand and will shortly become rich city-state within another city way Vatican is

interviewing bar boys is not a job , it's fun - and fun costs money
-
that's outright grave sin

this is our wishful thinking, go-go bars are not gay bars , they are boy bars. Sure we try to make them preserve of gays but it really never was a case. I agree that with influx of younger and Asian crowd there are more females in boy bars, they seem to be tipping well and generally behaving as far as my annoyances are concerned.

welcome back after long absence

this issue may dissipate with age, just my guess. While you are correct that this is common complaint I can't confirm that by my experience. Probably because I deal with older boys , like 25 + who are behaving better . Rarely they turn TV without asking me first and the same goes with opening rooms fridge - usually that's me who ask them if they want something to drink. I wouldn't hesitate to say ' no ' to TV request and to point what in the fridge is available ( my stuff ) and what is not ( hotel provided ). A little bit of drink may help to loose boy a bit if he seems apprehensive
