I for one actually do that job by myself and motion boy to come without asking mamasan to do that. Very rarely I tip mamasans and only if they either helped me with something or I like them. On my last visit to Nice Boys when told mamasan that I like bigger boys he actually told me how to get to Boyztown where I should have my types - this I liked and I think he earned his tip honestly , not that I needed this info from him but still... Being direct work the best , usually when they ask for tips I tell them "I tip boys only" and when they ask for drink I employ short ' no' but when bar hopping sometimes I'm saturated with drinks then I found mamasans handy. I tell them " I don't want drink but I will buy one for you". That way bar has drink sold, I'm left alone and mamasan is my friend. This is what I do and not only in bars and not only in Thailand. Learned my lesson in long gone my youth and ever since I'm firm believer in pay as you go system. And I try to have exact change to deprive them chance of shortchanging me.

if you don't try you will never know if you like it or no so just go. After all it's just 2 hrs from Bangkok. Don't count on many Tawan types though.

I second what Jasper said, great and very readable report. Your assessment of Nantra Silom is very fair although I'm surprised you had issues with room cleanliness , perhaps they start slacking which is not good, I never had such issue there specially that modern ambiance makes it very easy to clean all corners. But location is close to perfection and value for money is great so after demise on Om Yim, Nantra is my first choice now. They have only 3 types of room , no closet in either one but I find it to be of no issue as like OP I travel lightly. Since you did not employ rule of taking only boy who smiles at you it's always a risk that it will be shortage of chemistry and I'm glad encounter with Mekhin went pretty well. I'm glad you like #25 at Jupiter, I know him from Tawan and am glad he is doing well at his new bar.

I'm very sure that by 'outlook not good ' numazu meant satisfaction of our appetite for his travel reports and BurBoy has nothing to do with it.

Considering distance and difference in age, affluence and most likely education and language barrier this should not come as surprise. Let's face what we can offer them other than money and material goods? Chances that they will fall for us due to our internal beauty while not unknown are rather remote. I tried twice so called Quasi Boyfriend Experience , both cases reported here and it went quite well. Both had their own agenda, first one money extraction and second one long time hook-up to secure himself future stream of income but at least none of them was blatantly pushy and as far as companionship goes both kept their side of bargain. It was fun and entertaining but at no time neither side forget what assets is bringing into time together be it money or body. Than xiluzer from our forum stay there and e-mailed me that he was impressed with everything < i followed his take and was so happy I did. Average level of service at establishment is of not much help either as all boils down to a boy not the rest. For me personally Dreamboys BKK is prime example as one of my best and my worst off ever are coming from the same bar. At one visit I considered almost all of perhaps 70 boys on display offable , one or two visits later I couldn't see anybody to give my customary 100 baht tip for best looking boy as it was none. So we should be free to say whatever our honest impression is and it's up to whoever is reading it to make mind of how he will be utilizing that information. Have fun in Bangkok and do whatever you can for us.

any well know gay massage place / Arena, Senso, Prince , Hero , Bonny etc / will have somebody who will do it for you. from my experience it doesn't depend of massage place but particular boy and his learned routine, some will not do it , some only if asked and others still will include it in the course matter-of-factly so best is to ask either mamasan or even better boy himself. as for second question those are two different experiences and if entirely up to YOU to decide which is better after you tried both which I encourage you to do. This is what I think as well as 100% of donation goes to a needy but only problem with this approach is that we don't even know most of those people in need exist specially when on short term visit. Even in Bangkok sometimes few steps from busy and wordly streets there's another world. Enough to mention Klong Toey slum, not that far from all that Silom glamour.

this is what makes life colorful . punters entertained and all kinds of boys employed. Spoon is bringing lots of valid points , many things are taken into consideration , sometimes subconsciously before we decide we have hots for this and not that boy. And boy feels the same , he may go with different people if only for money but from time to time he may actually feel something for his client even if temporarily. Easy to see in the bar when boys on the stage somethimes chase with their eyes one patron and at the same time trying to avoid eye contact with another. perhaps bars move to another areas, first they will be a bit dispersed and then start concentrating , may be soi 6 will go to former glory and ones like Solid or Tomahawk will be resurected? will it still be worth of spending 1000 $ and 24 hours to get there. I can't see myself doing that for sake on sitting at my tablet and hunting for catch such way but perhaps it's only me? no but on two separate occasions, few years apart when tried to be dragged into girly bar there by somewhat handsome barker when I said teasingly like I often do "no, I like boys" I got an identical answer ' I will go with you ' , not sure how sincere but I guess it was an invitation to negotiation.
