I'd just rent cheapest room in say . Marine Plaza Inn or Baan Dok Mai and keep it for a purpose. By accident in October I had rooms in Ambiance and Zing Jomtien or the same night / booked by mistake / and I find it fun and useful for slightly above 20$ a night

I don't know how widespread it is but over years I witnessed several times food delivered to bars for the staff. Often , when I off boys and I ask them if they are hungry I get an answer they ate in the bar already although it not necessarily means it was courtesy of their bosses

that's correct, for most boys 100 baht is still very sizable chunk of money. I guess some people just get a kick of splashing money, specially if they are with company of their compatriots who can be impressed by such careless spending

you are quite generous, my rough custom is 100 baht for every 15 minutes I keep him beside, I keep an eye on how busy bar is , and if it's busy I either off boy or release him after few minutes so somebody may enjoy him as well. I don't argue , I just pay. All prices above sound sensible, including abdismaili doubling the tip when service was extraordinary. There are different boys and they have different expectations , even in the same bar. One may be offed 1-2 times a week , his friend may score the same 5 nights out of 7. Of course they will have different expectations and popular guy can afford being firm. Week later when his luck will run out or customer he was favorite of goes home he discovers joys of being elastic on expectaicies. So using guidelines above we should be prepared to be flexible. Guys will be too, rest assured. We go for vacation to have fun and to get away from it all , not to crunch numbers constantly. By paying to much we don't lose face , just cash and in reality not that much, 1000 baht is 30 $, lots of money in Dollarama but not that much in Starbucks
