I will be in CEBU in the Philippines. Probably watching the fireworks from my tiny 32nd floor balcony that faces the sea. They say that the majority of the fireworks will occur towards the sea. For the 10 seconds of the countdown I will make sure that noone can kiss my lips - as I am VERY superstitious about the folklore and myth "that your first kiss of the New Year should be from the one that you love and if not, your lovestory will be fucked". It is now almost the one year anniversary when the person that I loved with ALL of my heart decided that he would not give me the first kiss of the transition from year 2023 into the new 2024 New Year. So, I want that my heart and lips are reset for the new 2025 New Year, thus allowing for the termination of this awful spell. I know that I am too much of a romantic and I should stop this superstitious nonsense. Perhaps, that could be my New Year's resolution.

Instead of posting news and/or articles of their interest, they prefer to "fill the void" by complaining about what @reader posts. As a retiree that lives here full time, I enjoy what Reader posts because often what Reader posts may impact my daily retiree life. I understand that for most of our forum readership (who do not live in Thailand) these articles could be of little value or interest. A very reliable source says that the former Dorothy's Showbar - which was purchased by the M2M cabaret bar - will reopen as a Mexican restaurant. The hotel rooms above it will not be impacted and are currently operational and available for rent. I forgot to take an updated photo today - but they seemed to have removed the "Showbar" part of the name from the above marquee. So, perhaps the Mexican restaurant will assume the name of Dorothys ? ( perhaps an apostrophe is missing in the former marquee ? ) I am happy to hear this - as there are very few Mexican restaurants in town. Now we will have a gay one. With all this negativity about Cebu - I guess the winner for my "where to retire" trifecta will be Da Nang - as it already meets: 1.) The Jomtien like hirise condos directly on the immense Da Nang seashore. 2.) Traffic in Da Nang is NOTHING like Manila, Bangkok, HCMC, Hanoi, Pattaya, and perhaps Cebu (as I still need to have my feet down on the ground to assess the actual traffic situation). But I still need to go through with this comparing retirement destinations excercise anyway, as actual field research is generally more reliable than just relying on hearsay. My preliminary research for gay life is that Cebu appears to have more to offer (bars, clubs, and saunas) than Da Nang does.
