Alert forum members will of course by now realise that forum member was me! @spoon trip was at same time as my trip. My trip started one day earlier. Here's link to my report of that particular Saturday night when all bars had to close by midnight. We had thought it was due to insider news about a police raid but eventually found out that it was because of marathon.

I must find out how forum members who write trip reports take notes. Write in point form in a journal? Type into handphone? 🤔 I usually write one or two days after so it becomes sort of a "live" report. I don't have time to write after holiday. I am amazed by how forum members can write trip reports weeks after the trip ended!

I speculate that the visas of some of the boys have expired. Due to the hassle and uncertainty with renewing their visas via a border run, they probably decided to go back for the rest of this year and they will only return in 2026. I know that at Freshboys, only half the usual number of boys turned up for work on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I wouldn't call it gambling. They always believe there is a chance of an off. I would say coming early puts them in the good books of the boss. There have been occasions when regular customers call boss for boys to go to hotel at 8pm for massage and boss would ask anyone present to take up the assignment. As for arriving by 2159, that is absolute deadline otherwise they are deemed as not showing up for work. Penalty of 500 baht if I remember correctly.

I believe that is the reason. Latest rule just announced at Freshboys is that everyone must report for work 24 December to 2 January. If the guys want to miss work, they have to pay 1000 baht. (Instead of the usual 500 baht)

Yes. It is a strange rule but T.I.T. 🤷‍♂️ There is also another rule. Guys who don't get offed in one night are allowed to take the following night off from work if they wish to. But it doesn't apply to weekend nights.

Yes. Some guys forgo the early reporting 200 baht. They are confident of securing offs or they know they can at the very least earn some money from drinks and tips. They also don't want to stand on stage for the additional one hour from 8pm to 9pm when there are few customers. Customers only start filling the bar from 9.30pm onwards. And yes, there are guys whom I know who meet customers for dinner from 7pm to 9pm.
