I would not consider Voco Hotel cheap. Room is small. But the buffet breakfast is delightful. I had booked it because Tawana Hotel was where I offed my guy back in 2016 when I first met him. This stay at renovated and rebranded Voco Hotel is a wonderful way to celebrate 10th anniversary.

I like the shower head at Voco Hotel. There are three different modes of shower. First time I've come across such a shower head. Fun to play with. Hehehe.

After massage at Prime, we walked to Silom Complex to have Singapore chicken rice. This was followed by hanging out at pool table bar below Freshboys for 2 hours. My guy played pool with his friends while I watched them as well as the people walking past Soi Patpong 2. By 9pm, my guy's friends had left the pool table bar. They had to report for work at their bars - Freshboys, Dream Boy, Good Boy. I believe the only bar that permits their guys to report for work as late as 10pm is Jupiter. My guy and I went to Foodland and played chess for the next 3 hours. At midnight, we met some friends for supper at Happy Beer Garden after they finished work. One guy was drunk because he had been drinking with customer earlier on. Luckily, his friend was able to take him back to his room. My guy and I said goodbye to our friends. We went back to Voco Hotel where we spent an unforgettable night together. After breakfast, I checked out of hotel. My guy pulled my luggage for me until we reached Silom Road and I went to take BTS and airport train. End of my weekend trip. Also last chance to be with my guy before he goes back to Vietnam for half a year at least. Happiest but also saddest trip for me.

I had the good fortune to meet you @kram987 and I enjoyed your company and your dry wit. I am glad that you enjoyed being at the pool table bar. That's one of my favourite places. All the best and hope to bump into you again in the future!

The runner led us past the dark windows and door and up two storeys where two young male staff were waiting to wash our feet. Then we were led to a room where there were 3 mattresses on the floor and there were pajamas ready for us to change into. We lay on 2 mattresses after we had changed and the massage began. One hour later and my guy said that there was the best massage he ever had. He asked me how much it cost. He was flabbergasted that it only cost 300 baht! He said they worked so hard. He nodded approvingly at me when I tipped each of them 500 baht on our way out after the customary hot tea.

It would be 5pm soon and off we went to Prime for Thai massage. We were led to a different building on soi 6 away from the main building. There were no signage to indicate it was part of Prime.

We woke up mid afternoon and spent the time in bed chatting. We reminisced the happy memories we had the past 10 years. We looked at photos of tattoos. My guy has a colourful and intricate tattoo of fish swimming against the river on his back. I had a wild thought of getting a tattoo to commemorate our time together.

My guy asked to go back to sleep after breakfast. I lowered the blinds and switched off all lights for him then I went off to Big C for some shopping. Two hours later, I was back in Silom. I walked to Prime to make a booking for my guy and me in the afternoon. Then I went back to hotel and rejoined my guy in bed.

After my guy and I woke up and had morning sex, we headed downstairs for breakfast. Good spread of food - Asian, Western, Japanese. And good quality as well. My guy especially enjoyed the wide selection of fresh fruits. We spent two hours at breakfast, savouring nearly everything available and we played chess at the same time. Not many hotel guests. I counted fewer than 20 other guests during the two hours we were there. Staff could have shown more hospitality. At Le Meridien, where I once stayed exclusively for 2 years, the staff would approach guests to ask if they need more coffee. Here at Voco, after delivering my first cup of coffee, they left me alone. They also didn't try to get to know the guests and chit chat.

If you want to experience karaoke in Bangkok, let me know and I will arrange for you! 🥰🥰🥰

I was puzzled because I don't know of any Vietnamese guy working at Hot Male.
-
I remember there was an Italian song and the Myanmar guys tried to sing along! Fun night. One of best nights for me personally.
-
Yes the name of the old hotel was Tawana.

I dumped my luggage in hotel room and my guy and I soon joined the other guys outside hotel entrance. There were 6 of us including myself and I also invited a forum member to karaoke. So 7 of us in total walked noisily to H.i.M. bar which used to be known as Sky Bar. The two biggest karaoke rooms had been pre-booked by other customers so we were ushered to a normal size room. Smaller but the sofa was stil long enough to seat 8 people and there were two long tables for food and drinks. Every room also had an en suite toilet so all our needs were met. In December, I had karaoke with Myanmar guys. Tonight it was with Vietnam guys so all Vietnamese songs. 3 hours of singing and drinking. Bill was close to 8k baht. We started at about 10.45pm and ended at 1.30am. Forum member came and watched for a while. First time at karaoke for him. When karaoke was over, one of the guys went off to meet his girlfriend, three guys went to another bar to continue drinking while I went back to Voco Hotel with my guy and we would stay together for the next two nights until Sunday morning.

No, he is building house for his parents in Vietnam. Away at least half a year. He aims to complete construction before storm season starts.

It was nice that Voco management remembers the history of the building. It named its ballroom after Tawana Hotel.

Since I was late, I didn't go to hotel to check in. I went to the pool table bar below Freshboys where we had agreed to meet. Everyone had gathered already and was ready for karaoke. I hugged my guy tightly and happily. Our group then crossed Surawong Road to go to Voco hotel. I went to hotel reception with my guy to check in. The other guys waited outside the hotel and chatted and smoked. Voco hotel holds special memory for me and my guy. 10 years ago in 2016, I had been with him here in the same building when it was known as Tawana Hotel. My guy was working at Soi Twilight then and we spent a few happy nights together. The reopening of the hotel is a serendipitous moment for me and my guy and I definitely had to book it.

This will be my forum topic thread where I write about all trips to Bangkok (and maybe other parts of Thailand) this year in 2026. I am making at least four weekend trips and probably one long trip. I don't want to write them separately. The first trip of 2026 is a January weekend trip to be with my guy before he goes back to Vietnam for an extended period of time. His visa expires Tuesday 13th so I planned a trip the weekend before. I arrived on Friday late because there was a one hour delay due to engineers having to check engine of aircraft. Singapore Airlines 5.15pm flight from Singapore usually arrives by 6:30pm in Bangkok but due to delay plus long immigration queue, I only got onto airport train at about 8.30pm. I had planned to check into Voco hotel then meet my guy and his friends for karaoke at 9pm but everything got pushed back. "No problem. I wait for you," my guy replied me when I updated him on my delay. "I am happy you come to see me." 🥰🥰🥰

Currently staying at new Voco Surawong. Superb breakfast spread. Everything is new. Room size can't be helped because fixed size from previous hotel Tawana Hotel. Cheaper than Le Meridien. Splendid location. -
You can identify me openly and don't need to use "forum member" when we meet and go to the bars. Hehe.

Recommendation for hotel to watch fireworks 31 Dec 2026

Thanks, guys, for all your advice, suggestions and insight. I will monitor the prices regularly. If I find price of a room that is acceptable, I will book it. I am also mindful of my guy. My guy is thrifty. He doesn't like it when I spend too much money. But it's our 10th anniversary of knowing each other so that's why I want it to be special. 🥰🥰🥰 -

Very handy indeed! I was thinking more about getting cooking oil, eggs, bread, other ingredients for the kitchen! -

I am pretty sure my regular guy will be working. The only thing that might prevent him will be visa issues. As for guest list, he and I have many friends whom we can invite! Given a choice between countdown to New Year in bar with customer or countdown with fireworks, most guys will choose the 2nd option! -
