Received a Line message from Moonlight boy saying last night (Thursday) was full house, many customers. Was rather surprised as I thought this was the lull period between Chinese New Year and Songkran however he says the bar is steadily becoming “more famous” as word spreads.

But that is easily what happens during high season, particularly the major holidays. Jupiter and Dream Boys will be full to bursting, you will be lucky to get a seat (a rickety high stool shunted behind some pillar) and zero boys available to you, unless you already have a game strategy or regulars to call upon. Low season weekends are the best, to me. I’d far rather risk being the only one in a bar occasionally but have lion’s share of boy choices in almost any venue I choose to wander into. And in the bigger bars, they will be anywhere between a third to two-thirds full - a comfortable ratio. With the exception of Jupiter which was full house even during August low season Friday and Saturday.

I feel like “Mamasans: The Good, The Bad and the Outright Despicable” could warrant a thread all to itself, except none of us can be bothered to start one. This view is not limited just us customers. A bar boy friend of mine loathes all mamasans, even those that I deemed to be okay from the bigger bars.

I am with vinapu on this one. The bar makes no money off the boy’s tip, so the mamasan’s job is to ensure drinks and off fees at least are racked up. Don’t forget this keeps a roof over boy’s head and a stage under his feet. Of course you are welcome to take issue with mamasans who refuse to take no for an answer or force unwanted boys on you. Also I quite like buying boy a drink which gives us at least a 15-20 minute window to chat at leisure and asssess each other. A courtship ritual which only a bar environment permits. He feels good knowing that money has been spent on him (serious customer) and regardless of the outcome, will receive his drink token. I feel good knowing his undivided attention is on me as his prospective “One” for the evening. Without this small social nicety, we may as well be haggling on a street corner.

I believe the Songkran special show will only be held on Songkran days, but likely you will benefit from some of the new choreography being worked into even the regular acts. Try to visit Moonlight between Friday-Sunday if you are able as some boys may take a few days off here and there on weekdays in preparation for a busy Songkran, but the bar is that pushing for full attendance over weekends.

Sunny has stopped work in Moonlight. Reason unknown. All the best to him. The boys have been told to learn new routines for Songkran, which apparently will be a big extravaganza - their first proper Songkran since bar was still in its infancy last April. Moonlight boss is hoping to rake in the bucks in 2019. We can expect a full line up with extra models and more FB broadcasts. Other clubs like Fake have already started promoting their pre-Songkran and Songkran festivities.

I can confirm Babe does not have a good tolerance for alcohol, my friend has gotten him drunk before. But apparently now he’s much smarter at managing his alcohol (after multiple requests from customers to drink) so it might be harder to get him tipsy. Also I’ve heard that not only has his English improved, he’s also starting to pick up a little Chinese from all his Chinese customers.

For Bangkok, I would go in July. The hotel prices are much better, it is low season but not rainy season, and the gay scene is still alive and well...not dull in the slightest. Plus plenty of boys available. I made a short trip last December and would not repeat that, hordes of tourists everywhere, boys are getting Lined non stop by Asian customers on their annual visit so they inflate their asking prices. On the plus side though it feels very festive and you have a good chance of meeting cute fellow tourists on apps and in clubs.

Well my interest was piqued so I had a look at Q’s twitter, then thought I would try to find just Facebook page using the same handle....didn’t find his FB but did turn up his pre and post plastic surgery photos, used as advertising by the clinic! In fact the clinic’s profile picture is also Q, so maybe there is an affiliation.

Mr Tam has been away with a customer and did not feature in the Valentine’s Day special. My acquaintance went to Moonlight looking for muscle and tipped Atom and Smarch but was disappointed not to see Tam.

I think even the nickname reveals the identity because many of the Jupiter boys are hot gym fit specimens but only one can hold the title of Muscle God.
