  1. I had to read this line twice
  2. Or those who are Pattaya veterans, get a facelift and show up in Bangkok as a “new boy”. There is one offender in Jupiter who was already long in the tooth at BBB, when I last visited some 3 years ago. As I mentioned in Dreamboys review, one “boy” was visibly on the wrong side of 50, greying, balding and not trying to hide it. I wonder if this is the direction 80% of the Moonlight model line up is heading in. Some of these boys can remember customers they haven’t seen in 7-8 years. Remind me which one is Alex? The muscular Burmese who was ex Jupiter? Oud I remember as apart from not being the usual cookie cutter hunk of pre Covid Jupiter, he was the only one who smiled. I had complicated feelings when I saw Mekhin return to bar work. On one hand I was happy he survived his accident without severe paralysis or brain damage. On the other he is prime example of boys who should retire gracefully as he’s well into his 40s, has lost his looks and body, but not his heavy drinking habit.
  3. Talking of bar owners from years past, what happened to farang who owned Dreamboys? I was reminded of this when I saw a 28 year anniversary poster. I turned to my boy and said hey you could have started working here at 5 years old. He was not amused as he is passing for 26.
  4. He has actually told them he’s not working anymore. They just dont want him to stop working. Recently he gets calls every Friday when they see a spike in customers asking him to come back to work since he hasn’t moved to another bar. There is boy logic and then there is bar logic. Neither of which I entirely understand.
  5. Nothing so complicated. He has an arrangement with a customer (not me) and has mostly stopped working. Just to be sure I sent him a Line message. He said he had last been on stage almost two months ago and only for one day, but the boss still considers him on their roster since he hasn’t started working in another bar. So if he shows up with a customer, the rules still apply to him. Surely 7.30 is too early considering they seem to wake up at 4 or 5 pm! Jupiter’s official start time is 9 pm and there’s a 100 baht fine for latecomers. I don’t know how strictly it’s enforced.
  6. If you want a show bar, try Moonlight. I ran into Mekhin who said he was back working at Tawan but he no longer has the body of yesteryears.
  7. A Jupiter boy I know has stopped working regularly at the bar. I invited him to come drink with me at Jupiter one evening and he declined, saying that he would be asked to pay his own off fee to the bar and he didn’t want me to pay cover or off fee for him. We agreed the 500 baht was best spent on a nice meal for him next time. Jupiter boss conducts spot checks and if they are caught not coming into work but found outside with a customer, they are still asked to pay the bar 500 baht. When they are ill or hungover they send photos of themselves lying pathetically in bed to prove they’re not moonlighting. I used to think asking the boy to meet outside the bar was a clever way of avoiding the off fee but it turns out the boy will pay it anyway out of his tip.
  8. I seem to recall I was shown a red bordered menu with only 500 baht drinks but my eyesight in dim lighting isn’t what it once was. I clearly remember being told it was a 500 baht for a Coca Cola (which is all I wanted - ended having a beer though to feel some semblance of value)
  9. I passed by there recently and noted the new name too. My guy told me they had been shut down for too much drug activity and promptly reopened as H.I.M. New name therefore new bar, so no problem. Thai logic defeats me. Great venue for karaoke.
  10. More of a going….from Patpong to Thonglor. Some Jupiter boys have moved to Oasis, a new host club in Thonglor, I was informed over Line of the Grand Opening which apparently took place last night. https://www.instagram.com/oasis.ent.bkk On their social media I spotted Jack of the penile beads (which I was conveniently reminded about when I saw other member’s thread today about pearling or mook services out of the back of car). Also received a separate video showing the host line up including the Korean-looking Min, and another boy who I recognized but don’t know name. He is also from hill tribe Chiang Mai like Jack and Min so it seems they are recruiting from their own friend circle. Well I would not want to take bets on how soon I will see them back at Jupiter again as I highly doubt they can make money there, dressed up in badly fitted suits.
  11. I take your point, but my issue is with pricing structure of Dreamboys. 500 baht entry and first drink, sure. But 500 for every subsequent drink even if a simple beer or Coca Cola feels overpriced and illogical for a bar that hopes to be profitable as punters will limit themselves to a single drink, and perhaps one for boy. I seem to recall the usual pricing for bars was 500 (or whatever) for admittance to bar, show and access to boys galore, plus first drink. Subsequent drink for punter at a cheaper price (150 or 200?) and a slightly more elevated boy drink price / mamasan who manages to squeeze a drink from you . Or am I getting old?
  12. I hope this is suitable to post here, as I didn’t want to start a new post. Made my annual pilgrimage to Dreamboys, first time sitting through their full show in this current location. I rarely go more than once a year for various reasons, although I did poke my head in to apprise the wares earlier this year. I met a friend and his boy earlier in the evening and we all agreed we wanted to see a show but couldn’t agree where. Friend felt his boy wouldn’t be comfortable at Jupiter “too snooty” and we all felt disinterest in Moonlight so Dreamboys it was. No door fee but they charge you 500 baht for every drink what a rip off. On a Friday night, bar was respectably full with the usual mix of punters and tourists. It was refreshing to be reminded that (unlike Jupiter and Moonlight) Dreamboys show doesn’t take itself too seriously. There was one glitzy and rather spectacular Thai traditional dress number featuring the only good looking ladyboy in the whole of Patpong, along with some proper, professionally trained dancers so that was a pleasure to watch. The lead boy dancer, an attractive twink, received a big tip from a regular and he did not show up with a number tag later on so my guess is that he was really hired just to perform. They also stole the “I’m so sexy” number from Jupiter but instead of being performed by straight boy and ladyboy, here it was performed by two boys and an actual blow job. The other notable number was a stout “ladyboy” (or a male pretending to be one) in nightmare inducing clown make up, who pulled yards of ribbon out of his arsehole in full view , stringing it around the stripper pole and waving it at the more squeamish tourists. Boy line up at Dreamboys is always a mixed bag, ranging from young and fresh to fifties and greying (honestly this particular boy seems to have aged out of the market but I guess he was still here because there were takers). I spotted a familiar face of an ex Moonlight twunk and wondered aloud why he did not continue to work in Moonlight, or at least Jupiter, as he was one of the most attractive boys there. My friend’s boy, overhearing, explained that some boys do try to work in the classier bars but if they go a couple of weeks with no business, they move on. Other less attractive boys have already been rejected especially by the notoriously high standards Jupiter. Or some boys misbehaved while at Jupiter and were thrown out. There was one case of a boy who videod his encounter with a customer. I spotted two gym fit twunks who were my taste. One had a perplexing tattoo on his left bicep which could either have been a landscape or the head of an eagle, while I do not remember his number there is no missing him as he has “Shan State” inked in large letters down his forearm just in case he might be mistaken for Thai, or heaven forbid, Lao. The other is number 20 with an obliging manner and a septum piercing. The next few numbers were the obligatory wooden footed boys with waving cocks aplenty, and a “special show” where boys who were willing were paraded around the audience with cocks out for a grope. Offs seemed to be occurring at a brisk pace despite the varying quality of boys, with every rotation a number of boys disappeared unlike Jupiter where even the studs can be on stage until the bitter end. Shan State was snapped up so I consoled myself with #20. Friend’s boy and later #20 explained that rates at Dreamboys were also cheaper, starting at 1,500 or even 1,000 for “drinking”. Side note: the regular customer I mentioned earlier was a female in a very strange outfit and a big black hat, as though she was a rejected auditionee from Wicked. Could have been Thai, but based on her other female companion, Japanese seems likely. She made a point of tipping every ladyboy and performer, and a few boys, all of whom made a big fuss of greeting her. Final extravaganza featured two ladyboys prancing amidst billowing cloths and four boys in the most outlandish headgear, mini fans strapped to their foreheads featuring light projections of hunks and “Dreamboys” as well as “Songkran 2025” so must have been sponsored props too extravagant to be discarded. Has to be seen to be believed. We left, my friend with his boy, and me with number 20, for a final beer at a small local bar near Super A (not recommended) before calling it a night.
  13. The first two pics are of the “Grand” room which is a handsome 39 sqm, and depending on which site you’re looking on (in this case the official hotel website) can be booked for 4,500 baht per night inclusive of tax, so no other hidden costs. This is of course after the Christmas and New Year peak. 25 sqm “Deluxe” is the third pic I posted. It appears some Deluxe rooms even have access to a small balcony and two chairs which is very helpful for those that are particular to fresh air, or boys that smoke. 200-300 baht more. So I guess you can pick if you want a balcony or more space. This is a big selling point for me and it’s hard to find rooms with balconies in Bangkok, even down riverside where you’d think they’d be de facto but alas no.
  14. Or you might strike the lottery? I think it’s pleasant to have another “5 star” offering which is more reasonable than Le Meridien but still with full gym and pool facilities. Value for money I agree with your pick of Hotei, and also other Japanese hotel like Nishetetsu. I like the small touches, efficient layouts and after googling Hotei I’d quite like to try the Japanese inspired room where mattress is on the floor. Seems conducive to a number of things!
  15. Recently walked past a nice new Voco right next door to Le Meridien with official opening date listed online as this month, December 2025. Starting rate around 4000 baht which seems fair for the comfortable room, well equipped gym and impressive pool, if the photo mock ups do not lie. Down side is the basic room size seems small, 25 sqm. I played around with some hotel booking sites and while the rates spike over Christmas and New Year, they fall back to 4000 baht after high season ends.
  16. I have had boys leave all kinds of things behind….watches, socks, fake Prada necklace (that he returned to claim in a hurry so clearly he liked it very much, perhaps it was real), good and bad memories… but never a phone charger. Vice versa I had boys irritatingly use my phone charger without asking permission. One even removed my phone to charge his own which to me is a cardinal sin. Lucky for him he was cute.
  17. Yes, I stand corrected….while my research isn’t exactly confirming it is “legal” (Airbnb seems to be a grey area) over 30 days is compliant with existing regulations. But I’m interested to rent for at least 30 days at some point next year so would be interested to hear positive or negative experiences.
  18. Given that Airbnbs are illegal in Thailand how secure have you felt using this service? My concern is that the landlord can flout Airbnb guidelines knowing the tenant has no recourse to making a police report should anything go wrong, or even evict you after collecting payment.
  19. Oh I see you have to travel to Thailand multiple times a year because you are headliner at GASS!
  20. Except this wasn’t an unsolicited story of woe but my own observations over several days reinforced by chatting with a couple of the guys. Also with another 10 or so breathing down my neck waiting to be invited for drinks due to lack of customers. Boys with no offs sit clustered along the Jupiter stairs, anyone who has been to the bar is familiar with the set up. It is high season now so I hear Fridays and Saturdays are improving but far from Jupiter’s heyday.
  21. I found this on their social media 😆 I’m guessing yes
  22. Excellent suggestions thank you. “Boy du jour” is from Bangkok and we have a flexible 2 day arrangement while I ease back into Pattaya. He’s a very amenable companion but quiet type so maybe Boystown as first stop to pick up extra company, grade the offerings for the rest of my stay, and then follow your recommendation. Sounds like a perfect first night back. Does anyone know the present rate in Pattaya for being hired to drink for 4-5 hours?
  23. I will be in Pattaya late December after a long time away. Is this a good venue to catch a show or unwind? Boyzboyzboyz has been very aggressive on their social media lately but I don’t know how is the atmosphere now along with the rest of Boystown. For my first night I’m looking for an eye candy entertainment or a good people watching spot first where I can relax and have a drink without being harassed by mamasans. T25 seems more skewed to the local straight crowd? Is it gay friendly? I will usually come prepared with my own drinking companion but I don’t want to feel out of place either.
  24. One of the Jupiter boys told me that now the ratio of boys to offing customers is heavily skewed and they rarely get proper offs. If they get offed it is usually for short time drinks. It’s hard to make real money. Spending in the bar is not what it used to be either. They don’t want to be seen parading there day after day with no offs so many of them opt to work in other bars for a short stint , come back as a “fresh” face and then leave again.
  25. Yes they are biological brothers from Burma. The similar hairstyle (which is permed not natural) doesn’t help in telling them apart. Second pic is the older brother Amen who has worked at Jupiter since 2018 and used to be one of their best performers. He went home at some point over past two years and younger brother showed up this year and replaced Amen in the shows he used to do. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Amen just came back in the last month. I don’t know if he’s reclaimed his spot but he used to be better looking and more charismatic than Junior. I was told Junior is friendly and loves to be invited drinking.
